Purchased 4.0 Dark Brown For the longest time I used a natural hair colorant and then one day it did not seem to get the deep brown shade that I longed for. I am 43 years old and my once medium brown hair is probably 50% grey from age, stress, and pain. I started dabbling in other brands and this is the first time I have tried Garnier Olia. I must say I am very happy with the color. The brown is cool toned which is what I need. I guess you would call me a "cool winter" as far as color. I run between pale skin in the winter to a medium skin tone in the summer with pink undertones. I have grey eyes. I look good in colors such as black, blue-red, deep purple, just about all blues, etc. I colored my hair a few days ago and when rinsing it out. I just used conditioner. I find this helps the color sit and take longer. I then washed it 2 days later with a mild shampoo followed by conditioner. In the last number of days, I have actually gotten a number of compliments on my hair, which, it has been a long time since that happened. I used to get compliments all the time, but as I got older it slowly stopped. Now that I have gone back darker, THIS seems to be my shade and, I am going to stick with it for awhile. I have hair that is past my waist and this whole kit seemed to cover my roots and actually do my entire head with a pretty even color. I think, it you wanted a more uniform, deep color and your hair is super long, perhaps a bottle and a half to two? I was actually happy with the one bottle. I have never paid to have my hair colored. I have always done it myself. It is so easy these days. This brand did not seem to damage my hair. Since it is long and I am 'older' I am pretty particular about my hair products. I follow my washes with Bumble and Bumble Invisible Oil and usually something by Living Proof and then I sleep on it all overnight. I wash at night to let my hair pick up some natural oils since my hair is normal to dry in nature. Using this hair color did not change my hair texture, if anything, it feels a little better, a little less frizzy at the ends. This is good. Overall ... I will be purchasing this brand and this color again. Very pleased. Please see the video for before and afters. I think I probably had an inch of grey grown out and my previous color and brand had faded a lot.

I’m so impressed with this color that I will never use anything else!! I used Warm Golden Mahogany on my dark brown roots, but light brown lengths, having previously died my bleached blonde hair back to my natural color. The previous color had faded and my hair is still pretty damaged, so I wanted a product that wasn’t as damaging which is how I ended up with Olia. I was shocked as there is little to NO smell. None of the strong ammonia that you get with every other brand. Instructions were easy to follow and once mixed, the formula wasn’t runny, allowing you to apply it without it running down your forehead. I waited the 30 minutes and showered, and was surprised to see there was NO color all over the bottom of the shower-it’s like my hair literally soaked this up like a sponge. Immediately noticed my hair felt soft and not at all like it had just been colored-it didn’t have that dry, Brillo pad feel that you get before conditioning. Used the conditioner in the box which is very thick and emollient, and am just SO impressed with this color! After drying it’s exactly what I wanted-a pretty reddish-brown that actually has SHINE!!!! No flat, ugly one-dimensional color here, it’s truly beautiful. It also managed to do what I was worried about, which is turn my lighter, dried-out ends the same color as my healthy dark roots. I have long, fine hair and I used the whole bottle... those with thicker long hair may find they need two boxes. Can’t say enough good things about this product! I’m hooked for life!!

I switched from Garnier Nutrisse to Olia a few years ago (because I figure I'm worth that extra buck), and I am really pleased with this product. Just once do I recall the coverage not being great, so now I am more careful to leave it on for a good hour. No problems since. I now buy 6 at a time via Amazon's subscription service, and invested in disposable shower caps, and that makes that one hour somewhat productive rather than being confined to the bathroom. Great color, too, very dark but rich color. I color about every six weeks. When I start to see roots, sometimes I use temporary color spray until I can color, but I try to be careful to make sure there is no color spray still on my hair when I do color it. My hair is very shiny and healthy, and after years of coloring that is saying something.

A real cool toned brown. I am about 80% gray and it doesn't leave any brassiness. I was using the Nutrisse before. The Nutrisse was gentler, less drying but it also faded faster and left a wash of brassiness. This also has a stronger less pleasant smell than the Nutrisse. So, overall it lasts longer and is a truer ash brown but it is a harsher product. It is nowhere near as smelly and harsh as the Loreal line and it holds the color longer and better than Revlon or Clairol brands. It's really pretty good for a "Drugstore brand" The only caveat are the dispensing bottles. They are pretty but functionally almost worthless. I will keep using this anyway because the product itself is very good. If you are all thumbs, the mixing bottles with their slippery teardrop shape and hard to squeeze plastic may make you wish you bought a different brand.

Having battled grey hair since I was 18 I have tried a ton of hair color products. Some I love, some I don't love and some just do their job with no excitement or disappointment. The thing I really liked about this product is from the time I was in the shower rinsing it off until the time I was drying my hair, my hair was never tangled. I think the extra oil in this product is the reason for that. Usually when you color your hair it feels kind of crunchy when you are done rinsing it out, this one was different. It felt smooth and was easy to comb through. I am pretty pleased with this brand. It was easy to mix and had enough hair color for longer hair.

Gentle on my hair. Smells great. However, it washes away after just one shampoo at my temples exposing the gray I just covered. I love this brand, unfortunately, I have to use something a bit stronger that doesn't smell as pleasant but keeps my gray away.

This product was super easy to use and smelled good. I have always used Garnier Nutrisse. I have very long, dark hair and need to use 2-3 boxes of each product. The color here was beautiful but it started fading within a week. I usually only dye my hair 2-3x/year using the Nutrisse but within one month, this product was gone. I had no choice but to go back to the Garnier Nutrisse. It lasts for months and months on end. It just doesn’t quit!

This stuff is awesome and fool proof. This is my first time using this product and I accidentally put the conditioner in with the color instead of the developer. I though oh what do I do now... so I put the developer in the applicator bottle and put it on my head and mixed it well and it came out beautiful. My hair was so soft [maybe because I conditioned it for 30 minutes instead of 2 due to my error.] A lot of times hair dye will make my head burn a bit but this one didn't. I would recommend this to any one.
