Amazing stuff. I've tried dozens (literally) of different brands and types of hair lightening products over the past 20 years, but this is the first and only one that lightens my hair this much--and without brassiness. I don't know what the Magic Ingredient is in this brand, but I'm so grateful I've found it! It works much, much, much better than other brands AND professional color. It definitely lightens many shades (my natural color is light brown) and leaves it with not a hint of gold/brassiness. Perfect. My hair starts getting gold-y again after 2-3 washes, but then I use Clairol Shimmer Lights conditioner on it (I leave it on 5-ish minutes--sometimes I don't even rinse it all out) and it looks fantastic again. It's freakishly hard to find in stores...Target usually has one or two boxes left, but it's hit or miss at CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, and various grocery stores. Many places carry this brand, but not this color. Weird, given how popular it seems to be. Tip: I usually put a plastic grocery bag over my hair while it's processing and heat it all up with a blowdryer. When I used to get my hair done professionally, the stylist always sat me under a dryer for most of the time...she said it makes the lightener/color work faster.

Great product, nice colour

Pleasantly surprised: My first time colouring at home for 4 years since some bad experiences. This product is great though, especially for a non-bleach, milder blonde colouring. I have dark blonde ash hair naturally - I got a better, lighter result with this hair dye than I've had at some (expensive) hairdressing salons. I left it in a little longer than stated on the box, keeping an eye on the colour as it progressed. Nice, light blonde with a slightly cool tone (you can see there's purple pigments in the dye as it develops, so it counteracts yellow tones). I didn't get as clear a colour as the photo on the box but it's close enough - and a lot less damaging to my hair than bleaching it blonde. I've regularly paid $180 upwards for a hairdresser to do what this product managed to do for less than $15. This will be my new go-to!

Awesome for blondes!

Best blonde box color/toner! So happy I bought this to touch up my roots. Usually touch ups done with a box or just with bleach end up super gold-y and I have to buy a toner from Sally's to make it match the rest of my light blonde hair but this matched perfectly! I left it on about 25 minutes (just roots!) and it left me with perfect, light ash blond hair. Make sure not to put it over already bleached hair though, it will turn blue/gray...not a huge problem though if it does it will wash out after a few shampoos. Highly recommend this for those who are already blonde and want to eliminate gold/brassy tones.

This stuff is great. I have mousy brown/dark blonde hair naturally, and it lifts it about 3 shades. It's blonde, but definitely not platinum like the box picture. It comes out a golden blonde that looks natural, and has gotten me many compliments. It's a warm shade but not overly brassy. I have tried a lot of box blondes over the years, and this is my fave. I really hate the add-on, tally-up vibe you get from salons (just charge me what you quoted when I walked in!!!), and this stuff makes it so I never have to deal with the headache of finding out what a trip there is *really* going to cost.

Use A Product To Remove Old Hair Color Before You Use This.

I ordered one box of this extra light ash blonde and did a strand test to see what it would like on my hair which is dyed with light ash brown hair color. It doesn't make much of a change over previously dyed hair. I think that you have to use some other product first to remove the old color before you use this. I used to color my natural hair color with a similar color made by Loreal years ago and it turned my hair medium warm blonde which is what I was thinking about trying. My hair is now dyed light ash brown color and my roots are gray and brown. This product did seem to condition the strand of hair very well though. Don't expect this to turn your hair light blonde if it's been previously dyed. It probably would if you put it over untouched naturally brown hair that hasn't been dyed.

FINALLY, not brassy!

I used this about a month and a half after I had used another L'Oreal hair color product that had gotten great reviews and mentions about it not resulting in brassiness. Didn't work for me however, even with the addition of some "red out" or red gold corrector additive drops (my roots were particularly orange afterwards). My hair is naturally a very ashy, dark blonde, and whenever I use boxed colors they tend to make my hair too yellowy and brassy. This, however, was a pleasant surprise. I still used the additive drops, but the result was much cooler, and much closer to what I have always tried to achieve in the past.

I don't know what happened I've used this brand before it turned my roots golden and stripped the color to almost white the bottom half of my hair. I just had to order a different dye and I hope it fixes it. I look like I have gray hair for the bottom half of my hair then I have a golden blonde on top.
