So I started using Garnier Nutrisse a couple of years ago after spending way too much money at a salon for highlights. I could not be happier. Not only does the color cover beautifully but it has highlights and low lights in the dark brown color which I love. Also, my hair is left looking healthier and softer unlike when I get it professionally colored which makes my hair feel like a brillo pad due to the amonia/bleach. I've been using this Brand (off & on) & Color for almost 3 years & in my opinion & experience it's the BEST for Covering gray hair..if you use it correctly...I've been coloring my hair since the 80's & personally I think this is the BEST BY FAR OTC COLOR TO COVER GRAY HAIR.. TIPS: -use "no gray drops" that you can add to the mixture (G.O.D. Gray Oxidizing Drops by Powertools) -Ion Color Brilliance Booster step 1 -Ion Protein filler -Ion Pre-Color Treatment -Ion Color Sealer I also go online & read about how it's best to color Gray hair-like adding certain oils to your hair before, after & in between coloring to keep it HEALTHY & strong...(which I also use). I added the No Gray drops & I used the Ion Booster Step 1 & my hair turned out REALLY GOOD...I haven't tried the others yet but I will in the future...most of the reviews I've read are pretty good- so it's worth a try. It may sound like a lot of ingredients but it's so worth it to me-the color for me when I add extra drops lasts maybe 3 weeks longer... Everyone's hair is so different & so many factors are involved when doing your own hair...this is my experience with this color & brand & it's worked VERY WELL FOR ME... I upgraded to this ultra coverage after realizing there was such a thing! Crazy but I never noticed. The boxes almost look identical. This will cover new growth (gray) way better and matches the rest of my hair now rather than new growth ending up “lighter”.
