Love this paddle it’s light and accurate. This paddle is an upgrade from my paddle tech paddle which was also a really good paddle for beginner to intermediate players. Wanting to go up a notch in my play and this so far has given me the results I was looking for power, spin & feel.

I like the paddle but the shock absorber comes apart and won't stay together. They don't give you any way to contact the seller about it

The Gamma Airbender is definitely an innovative paddle. I think currently it's the only paddle with this level of customization in regards to the weight. However, with just the paddle itself and no additional accessories, the customization is limited to only the shockbuster (the rubber insert in the hole of the paddle). If you want full level customization, you have to buy 2 additional $25 accessories, the additional shockbusters and endcap weight. My paddle was already decently weighted, it came at 8.55 oz with the standard shockbuster. I do like how gritty the face is and the handle/grip felt very comfortable in the hand. The edgeless design looks awesome and I liked that they put some texture on the edge to protect from scrapes. Performance wise, I can't say it performs that much better than my $100 paddles with just the standard configuration. The spin is there and power is there but for a $200 paddle I think it should at least come with some extras like another shockbuster or end cap and not separate purchase. Another negative about the paddle is the shockbuster becomes loose after using the paddle for extended time. I played about 3 weeks now about 10 hours a week and my shockbuster is so loose that I have to push it back in every game. I'm not entirely sure how it became loose but probably because of the impact when you don't hit exactly on the sweet spot, sometimes it can hit the shockbuster area and makes it loose. I also experienced a crackling sound in my paddle after 2 days of playing. It started rattling so much and it felt like the upper area of the paddle was dead and inside something felt cracked. This is just from hitting basic shots and not serious games at all. I did get a replacement and it appears to not have this problem but time will tell. Overall the paddle performs as expected, it looks great and feels premium. However for the price it should have come with additional accessories to customize the paddle and not separate. ... show more

This review is from my husband's input as he teaches pickleball and has about 40 paddles, including paddles with the latest technology. This Gamma Airbender certainly has some new and unique features. The open throat design is not new and even two openings is not new, but the get insert into the smaller opening to deaden shock is new. I believe Gamma uses this same technology for their tennis rackets. It is certainly a very handsome looking paddle in the pure black and white motif. It is a 16mm thick core paddle with an almost edgeless style, but the thin edge is minutely raised off the raw carbon fiber surface. The edge has a honeycomb design and the throat has car like pin stripping. The handle is long enough for two handed players and feature the industry best Gamma honeycomb grip. The paddle weighed in at 8.5 ounces, 16-1/4" long and 7-3/8" wide with a 4-1/8" grip diameter x 5-3/8" long handle. The raw carbon surface is closer to smooth than gritty. Our foursome played with the paddle this morning for a couple of hours. The most common descriptions were that it felt a little head light and exhibited better control than power. The fact that you can buy added weight kits for the base of the handle and for the gel throat, would make the head feel even lighter. If you do add those weights, you would probably need to add some lead tape to the top and sides of the paddle to get some more balance. You would then be playing with a more pro weight paddle well over 9 ounces. Everyone enjoyed playing with the paddle, but it you are looking for a paddle with more power and pop, this may not be for you. 5 stars for the innovation and quality. ... show more

    • Wanted to Love It
Style: 16MM - Paddle Only
I have been anxiously awaiting this paddle. I currently play with a GS Air Pro and figured this would be an upgrade, considering the price. First, I want to make sure others are aware that none of the items needed to make the advertised changes to this paddle come with this paddle; you will have to buy them separately. I am a smaller female at 5'1" and I prefer my handle to be a little shorter than this handle but thought it might work with some of the advertised adjustments. So, I am reviewing this based on what came already on the paddle. I am aware that bigger, or even better, players may find their experience with this paddle entirely different, but I am giving my rating based on MY experience with it. It looks great! But I actually found the sweet spot not to be large at all and I didn't find it to feel as balanced in my hand as the Gamma Obsidian. For ME, it was a little clunky and not as easy to handle as I expected. My teenage son who is a 4.0 has used numerous paddles and complained of the same things. I won't be using this paddle, and I'm sad about that because I wanted to love it! For the price, I expected something better. I prefer my $80 paddle. ... show more
