I use one of these bags for cans and bottles, and the other for paper and cardboard. I like that they coordinate with each other and are nice bright green colors, and they're a good size and proportion for recycling - about the same footprint of a paper shopping bag, but a little taller, which helps keep items from overflowing and falling out. I am a 1-person household, so it takes a while to fill these up, but in a larger household I'd imagine these might fill up too quickly to be as useful - for example only about 3 milk jugs would probably fit in each bag. The bags are stiff enough that they remain standing on their own, but I added a piece of stiff cardboard to the bottom of each, just to help them keep their shape and sit flat. The material is glossy enough to make them easy to wipe clean. All in all I'm very happy with them. Update: I've had these now for close to 6 years and they're holding up well. The stitching in one of the handles was unraveling and I was worried the handle might eventually pull off the bag, so I re-sewed it - just a few stitches with some heavy duty thread. After many trips to my local recycling facility with these bags it didn't surprise me that there'd be a bit of mending required after a few years. They've also held up to frequent sponge baths - no separating of the materials or fading of colors. Initially these seemed a little expensive for bags, but since I keep them in the kitchen where they're visible all the time I wanted something brightly colored and that looked a little better than just a grocery bag. When I think of the cost as just a couple dollars over each of the years they've lasted so far I think they're well worth it. ... show more

Our apartment kitchen is small and there isn't room for a recycling can. We decided to use the bottom of the pantry cupboard for our recyclables, but couldn't find a can that was narrow enough to fit in there (except if we wanted to pay over $100 - yeah right). These bags are the perfect solution. They fit in the cupboard so the recycling is out of sight, they stand up on their own, easy to cart to the dumpster, and they rinse out easily. I deducted one star because even though they stand up on their own the top doesn't stay open until the bag is more than half full.     • Reusable way to recycle
I'd been hoarding paper bags from grocery stores to collect recycling, but those inevitably got torn or otherwise damaged with the accumulation of recycling materials, plus I had to dump them out anyway since our city has single stream recycling (check your local recycling regulations, folks, lots of cities request you NOT bag your recycling). These two bags are the perfect solution: durable, lightweight, and clearly the recycling bin without being ugly. The handles are large enough so that you can still carry it when it's full, and then they fold up easily as well to get out of the way if need be. They're easy to clean out as well. Only complaint is that I wish shipping hadn't been so expensive for this item, but I understand that Prime can be difficult to work with and I am definitely happy with the purchase. We've happily downsized to a smaller home and don't want to lose any kitchen or pantry space unnecessarily. These recycling bags are perfect for us. They don't take up much room, yet allow us to properly sort recycling. And they perfectly fit into plastic milk crates in the trunk of the car so that they don't tip on the way to the the recycling center. Handles make them easy to manage, and the material makes them lightweight and easy to clean. I was looking for an alternative to the big Amazon box by the door we'd be using. I've had them about a month and really like them! They are made of a reusable grocery bag, but thicker. The thicker material helps them "stand up" while on the floor. The material is also great incase one of the recyclables leaves any residue and you need to clean it up real quick.
