Battery drops right in to the unit! I tired of replacing the AGM battery with its quick loss of capacity, and the internal charger causing it to swell up into oblivion. This requires a small modification to work. Cut the wire from the the back of the charge plug. Install a small plug on the side of the unit being careful of placement so it will not interfere with the PCB or battery. I installed the charge wires with a 10 amp fuse by splicing into the battery wires. Now the unit can only be charged with a compatible external charger or solar charger. I built up a cable/plug for my charger or solar charge controller, and can use this plug as a 10 amp output port. Since I was on a roll, I installed a 20 amp battery selector switch on the top of the unit and a fused (20 amp) external battery plug on the other side of the unit allowing easy use of external batteries if needed. This modification requires greater effort and care due to limited space and switch placement, insulating the switch terminals due to risk of shorting to the board. Due to space limitations, I used a SAE plug (again careful placement), and created a adapter cable to Anderson Power Pole connectors which my extra batteries use. When you open up your Goal Zero you will see if this is a project you want to take on. This battery has much higher capacity and greatly lighter in weight. Installing the new charge plug (measuring and drilling required), and splicing in to the battery is relatively easy. This totally upgraded my GoalZero in its capabilities and reduced the weight significantly! Highly recommend.

Battery only lasted a little over a year. Now it dies superfast, have been stranded on the water twice now. Charger says 100% but lasts only 10% of the length that it used to when new. Only charged and discharged a total of 20 to 30 times.

The battery seems to function well but there was a problem. I have a cable to hook to the batter which has standard lugs on the ends but when you try to tighten down the bolts that hold them down the bolts bottom out before you can get it tight. Very frustrating that you need to supply your own washers just to make a battery terminal work. You would think they know this.

I ran a full capacity test as soon as I got this battery and I am measuring a little more than 23ah. So I can't complain. The BMS seems to be functioning as it stopped charging automatically when full. Same for discharge, cut off when the voltage reached a low enough level. So much better than lead acid in every way.

I bought one of these with the charger in July. I was so pleased I bought another two weeks later. Its light weight and battery life are amazing. Now here's why I rated them 3 instead of 5. I used both on a fishing trip two days ago. They worked for the entire time. Went I tried to recharge the newer battery, it would not take a charge. Let's try out the customer service.
