abunda_amazon_reviews I'm amending this review to add this header. CHECK THE DATE OF THE REVIEWS BEFORE FORMING AN OPINION. Take note of the YEAR of the reviews. I wondered why there were so many 5-star reviews and 1-star reviews. Clearly something changed with Optima's quality and warranty since 2017. I was tired of dealing with corroded cables and conventional lead acid batteries, so I decided to bite the bullet and get Optima batteries for my cars and Camper. I purchased a yellow top in February of this year. That's right; OF THIS YEAR. I spent a ton of money on a battery that I expected to do the job, not be finicky about multiple charge/discharge cycles (since the truck and camper sits for long periods) and be the end of my messing with batteries. Well; That didn't turn out to be the case. The battery ran down after a couple of weeks of non-use. At first I thought the truck had a problem. I charged the battery, tested for current draw, and found nothing significant to worry about. This happened for about six cycles before I decided to just remove the battery and charge it on it's own, with a smart charger. At first I would see that the battery was charging, then a fault code would appear. OK; I decided maybe it was the charger. I used a "dumb" charger and timed a cycle of four hours, to get it going, then put the other charger back on. I set the current low (2 amps) and after 24 hours or so, it showed "Full". I put it in the truck, It lasted a few DAYS and ran down again. I charged it again and noticed that one side of the battery was getting warm and the rest of it was cool. In the mean time, I put an older, known good lead acid battery in the truck. After three weeks, no problem with the "old" battery. So I decided to contact Amazon about the warranty. Amazon says, contact Optima. Optima says "try recharging....." I'm sick of the runaround and getting garbage for high prices. I'm sick of Amazon and of Optima right now.
