  • Best Car Battery You Can Buy
Got this for a 2005 Mustang GT. Fit perfectly. It has WAY higher CA and CCA ratings than the Duralast Gold it replaced. I've ALWAYS went with Optima because they last forever. Yes, they are expensive, but they are TOUGH, they don't die on you if you happen to let them drain dead overnight by leaving the radio and lights on for 20 hours or whatever like many batteries do. I'll update if any issues come to plague us, but if you don't see me come back, just know the battery is still doing perfect, even if it's 8 years from now. I may update every 3-4 years and say how it's doing, but I have faith 4 years will be trouble free with an Optima Red Top. I'm just saying, it's worth paying the extra hundred for one of these than saving that hundred and needing to buy another car battery 8 months to 2 years MAX later. These last forever AND they blow the competition away with the cold cranking amp ratings (the important rating). I've used these since 2005 or 2006. I even keep a spare that I've had for 6 years that I keep to bring with jumper cables if I ever need to jump someone off since it's so much easier. I think it may be 8 years old now, actually, lol. Long story short, this is one of the most important components of your vehicle. THIS decides whether you crank and leave or get stuck where you parked. This decides if you run it dead, will it still be good (yes) or will you kill a cell with some other cheaper brand (you will). Spend the money for one of these and then you can forget about worrying about your car battery for YEARS to come. ... show more

  • Optima Guarantee
Original battery would not take charge.Could be because it was put in an Amazon box upside down and shipped.I contacted Optima and they have you fill out a form and send some pictures to them.About a week later they said they would ship a new battery and for me to recycle the old one somewhere. It arrived in about 3 days and going strong about 3 weeks now ... show more

  • Terrible battery, don't waste your money, battery replaced in 13 months
I rarely write reviews but feel I need to put something on for this battery. I had a five year old battery in my fishing truck. I drive the truck about once a week but noticed that on cold days after sitting a week it would need to sometimes be jump started. I had a local major auto parts store test the battery (and charging system) and it said replace the battery I decided to order the Optima battery from Amazon and made a huge and very expensive mistake. I figured it would be more durable for the application. The battery was fine for a while but I had the truck at a shop for a few weeks waiting on parts. After that, the battery wouldn't hold a charge for an entire week without a jump. I contacted Optima who told me to discharge and recharge to de-sulfate the battery. I did that and left it on a charger or tender regularly. If I had to jump start it, I could drive it around and it would restart no problem. Once I left it a few days, it would need to be jumped or charged. Mind you , my 5 year old Walmart battery I replaced with the Optima performed better. Finally today, I had to jump the truck and drove it at highway speeds for over an hours. I parked it for 30 minutes and it needed a jump. All the while the alternator was charging fine and there were no issues. I took it to the same large auto parts store and the test showed the battery was bad. I bought a new, non-optima battery and got rid of this awful thing. When talking with the parts person, she informed me she had a yellow top Optima that wouldn't hold a charge if her car sat a week as well but her Walmart special (not the store she works in) was fine sitting for weeks on end. I believed that Optima batteries are overpriced, and overhyped. This was my first and last one. Notwithstanding the fact that once contacted, Optima said I would have to go through Amazon for a return. I just ate the cost of the battery. Lessons learned: 1. Don't get an Optima battery. 2. If you purchase an Optima battery, buy it IN A STORE. Optima doesn't care to assist in replacing their crappy product they just want the seller to deal with it. Save your money, get a regular battery. Support your local auto parts store. ... show more

  • My car's battery was dead as a doornail
I tried jumping it, tried charging it - nothing. I've owned the car for a couple of years now and that battery was in it when I bought it (and my car is older), so I have no idea how long it was in my car prior to my purchase. So...while I wish batteries weren't so expensive, this one is right in the costs of recommended batteries for my vehicle. I also did check on the cost to have someone bring a new battery which also required I pay for installation meaning TWICE (and a little more) than the cost of this battery!!! I have very little money to spare, so...I bought this battery, took out the old battery, although I had to have help to get the old VERY heavy battery out (my male next door neighbor helped pull it out of the engine bay as I am a 70-year-old lady with no upper body strength. This battery was actually lighter weight so I could pick it up and set it on the battery plate and that is the only downside is that this battery came with a bottom that could be used on the old battery platform EXCEPT that the way my battery platform ties down is this long screwtop with a J-hook bottom that hooked into a small spot in the original battery platform and the ones that were sent with this battery didn't have any way to use it with that J-hook and screw-top piece that was NEEDED to tie down my battery. Other than that, I was able to tie down and hook up this battery very easily. I did my little prayer that the car start after hook up and my car purred to life and works so well my neighor who stopped to see how I was doing said, "You just replaced the battery?" His eyebrows up, he added, "And it's running?" My car runs so quiet even with the hood still up he couldn't hear it running! So, all I can say is while I wish batteries weren't so dang expensive, this one worked perfectly. I'm happy with it as my car is back to running - what's not to love about that? ... show more

  • Best batterys
I've always been a fan of OPTIMA batteries. they hold a charge for a long time and have exceptional cranking power. Years ago I was an insurance adjuster and had to have a computer and printer working off the battery. after less than an hour of computer work the car wouldn't start without a jump. Installed one of these and never ran out of power. ... show more

  • Best Battery in the World but:
"I'm working on my 4th Optima Battery istalled in a BMW and my Isuzu Amigo. Optima would not recomend I install in my Bimmer because according to them, there was not enough clearance and air-flow being that my Battery in installed in a small space in my trunk. I said screw that, and bought their red-top and it works and fits flawlessly! Now for the Amigo, a little more heavy duty red-top was recomended. On my 2nd installation and just under 3 years the Battery Failed. Would not hold a charge. Warranty is for 3 years. Now listen up: Their Customer Service, Optima whom I purchased Direct from (later I purchased from Amazon) acted like I did not have a problem. Sent me a long questionaire and told me to get a professional inspection. They acted like nothing can ever go wrong with their battery! I argued back and forth for a week and finally after a Letter to Corporate, they sent me a New Replacement Battery but also made me return the old one and then told me because it was a Replacement they can not offer a Warranty! I have to say this in retrospect of my experience; "When the Battery functions yes, it may be the best on the auto/marine market in the USA but if it does fail, you have to fight them to get a replacement if you are still under warranty. I hated the idea of the long-wait for the new Battery and then having to pack the old battery and have FEDEX pick it up. So buyer beware. Also be aware the Battery is actually made in Mexico and can be sent through the mail. As far as the Battery itself, no complaints! ... show more

  • An actual review from a competent car owner
First one lasted me 10 years and 2 months through 2 cars. Currently in my 2004 VW GTI VR6. Only reason for replacement is it finally started corroding due to a pinhole leak somewhere around the negative post. Battery still turns the car over like it’s new. Managed to kill it dead probably 4-5 times across that 10 years, and it came back full force every time. I just ordered the exact, same battery because it’s just that good. Don’t listen to the bad reviews on it. If your car isn’t loading the battery when off, they last much longer than any standard cell battery, and are well worth the additional cost. ... show more
