  • Excellent quality, sturdy, easily handles weight of Blue Yetti
Hello everyone I bought this the other day and immediately set it up in my computer room. I own a BLUE Yetti mic and I have always put it away because for some reason the stand always transferred my typing noise through the hard wood and base of the mic stand. It was just loud and I always knew that I needed a device like this with the shock mount in order to use the Yetti to its fullest potential. This device is adequately priced for the quality of item you get. The materials are quality, piped steel construction and it is weighty. It has a durable feel and retains the position easily even under the weight of the Yetti which is one of the more heavy microphones. Even the head of the device, which is double jointed, holds its position nicely with the use of the tension screws that are provided. The base itself is a cast steel base with a large or ample depth for attaching to just about any surface. It attaches securely and once tightened down does not move at all. I would put this item in the same quality grouping as some of the nicer ergo arms on the market that really hold their positioning with no trouble at all. The range of motion is good. I have it mounted on the top of the hutch above my monitor and I can swing it completely out of the way even with my second monitor ergo arm directly underneath it. Overall I am extremely pleased with this device. It is made of quality materials and really holds its positioning perfectly. I highly suggest this item for anyone, gamers, studio engineers, streamers, vloggers or whoever just needs a mic stand with a 1/2 inch mounting screw and a shock mount. This item is good for personal or business use, and would be an excellent gift idea for the right person. 5 stars for quality, engineering, and construction. I found no defects with this item and it came nicely packed in a Styrofoam mold padded box with instructions for use. I hope you found this review helpful today and I hope you enjoy your new item. Thanks for looking. ... show more

  • Doesn't feel like it would be very solid, but it somehow is and does work well
My headline up there kind of says it all. I've used and/or reviewed quite a few of these boom arm-style stands, and there's a lot of variance in the quality out there. I thought this was going to be one of the weaker ones, but it turned out not to be at all. The parts are thinner and seemingly less substantial than some other ones, but somehow, it still feels very stable and holds its position well (one of the biggest problems with many of them). Another common issue is that that first joint, right behind the mic itself, is often very hard to tighten well enough to keep a heavier mic from just drooping and pulling itself down, and then you end up having to tighten the knob on the joint so tight it feels like you might break it. This one doesn't feel like that -- and that's testing with a Shure SM7B, one of the heavier mics you're likely to be using with this stand. All in all, I think this one is a pretty good bet, if you're in the market for a stand like this. ... show more
