Wow, these pans are awesome. I haven't tried the big brand name pan that sell for 129 or more but I doubt it could be any better. These pans are the best I ever used and yes I did fry a strip steak and it cooks as good as cast iron for searing. The only thing I would improve is the way the beautiful handles are held on by screws instead of rivets. I highly recommend Snow Clad for the high quality and value, once you try these pans you will wish you got them sooner. ... show more

I have a set of Hexclad. Got this 12” skillet to see how it compares with the name brand. It’s a nice skillet, but does not compare to the name brand. The pattern/etching is much finer on Hexclad. This impacts the performance. It cooks pretty evenly, but does stick when cooking eggs, etc. Cleans pretty easily with a scrubber sponge. Hexclad is the clear winner, but this is worth the money for the price point. In the pictures, the wok is Hexclad and the skillet is Snow Clad. ... show more

well, the size and the performance is wonderful. Yet for our style of cooking, for the same volume if the depth is more say upto 3.5 inches, the splitters from the vessal while flying out will be better controlled and stirring with a spatula can be done more confidentally.
