We had one of these about 5 years ago. We just had to replace it this year because the stability of the unit was terrible after a few years. This redesigned model has welded reinforcements for support on the tube that supports the umbrella being upright. I loved the size and assemble was easy, but only after a few uses the string that pulls the umbrella open snapped and it broke. I havenā€™t open the umbrella more than 10 times. I really liked it, but now I canā€™t use it.

We have a front porch that gets a lot of direct sunlight for most of the day and it can become unbearable to sit outside for any period of time in sunny weather- which is most of the spring and summer where we live. I spent a lot of time reading reviews about various outdoor umbrellas. All the reviews were so mixed and I was genuinely confused. Plus you never know if the reviewer actually assembled it properly or if they live in incredibly non typical windy weather unsuitable for the average umbrellaā€¦ so with many unknowns, I decided to just buy it and see for myself! Here are my experiences having this umbrella for a couple weeks. (We got the 10 ft offset umbrella in tan color) Pros: - Easy to assemble with basic instructions which although werenā€™t perfectly clear, was pretty straightforward for the average intelligent human. - provides shade!! I thatā€™s the point but itā€™s good to know it does itā€™s job. - opening and closing the canopy is pretty easy. - when the umbrella is closed, it seems like it would hold up to rain and basic wind. (Havenā€™t had any yet to know for sure) Cons: - A weighted base is absolutely necessary to make sure the umbrella doesnā€™t fall over. (Thatā€™s the case for all umbrellas- think backyard basketball hoops too) However the con is that the base that is officially recommended for this umbrella to be purchased separately was almost as expensive as the umbrella itself which seemed super pricey to me! Instead, I bought a sand bag from Amazon for about $20 and got two $5 bags of sand from Home Depot. Seemed to do the trick! (See pic) Yes, a bit less aesthetic, but who cares? - the last 2-3 cranks of the lever to fully open the umbrella is hard to turn. The first part is very easy. - we have not experienced any high winds while owning this yet, but from what I see it swaying slightly in the breeze, I donā€™t think this umbrella would hold up if it is left open in any substantial wind. - the umbrella mechanism opens by turning the crank which pulls a string that opens the canopy. This entire umbrella is dependent on that string! (See pic). I just pray that it is durable enough to hold up long term. Iā€™m a bit skeptical! - the umbrella does not have a feature where you can tilt the canopy to accommodate where you need the shade as the sun moves. I saw other umbrellas that have that feature. - the fabric is not completely opaque (see pic). You can see the sun through the fabric. It does give adequate shade and still shields you from the bright blinding sunlight. But just thought Iā€™d add if anyone cares. Final thoughts: We paid about $80-$90 for this (without the sand bag). Iā€™m pleased with the purchase for now as it has saved me from baking in the sun while outside on my porch. It definitely provides the shade it was created for. I would recommend for someone in a decent climate with minimal storms. You definitely will have to be diligent about closing the umbrella when not in use. (So far we are!) I took off one star as I wonder about long term quality. Weā€™re hoping for the best! ... show more

It's an undeniable truth: 'You get what you pay for.' However, this so-called 'product' is nothing more than a heap of junk, cobbled together from flimsy plastic and brittle pot metal. To add insult to injury, there's absolutely ZERO support ā€“ not even a whisper of assistance. The audacity doesn't stop there. The product arrived on my doorstep ensconced in a box that looked like it had survived a natural disaster. Unsurprisingly, the crank handle essential to its function was snapped off, adding to the litany of disappointments. Despite the entire ensemble arriving battered and bruised, I had begrudgingly considered keeping it ā€“ conditional on receiving a replacement crank handle. Yet, the company, conveniently stationed in the distant realms of China, has chosen silence as their customer service strategy. Their lack of response is rivaled only by Amazon's own radio silence. I am so much enjoying my new umbrella this morning during my quiet time. As you can see the morning sun blocked from this perfect umbrella being used in my balcony. I did purchase the Best Choice Products 4-Piece Cantilever Offset Patio Umbrella Circular Base Stand w/Carry Handles, Easy-Fill Spouts, Base Connector Hooks, UV Stability - Gray for added weight for more stability. For me I put all this together all by myself a woman. The instructions did come with it but I found the video even more helpful confirming that I read the instructions correctly. Yes once the umbrella attached is heavy to carry. But I put it in its side to connect the two pieces together and then kind of just pushed it out to the balcony. Once I filled the water in each base I just rolled them out. Thank you FruitTeam making this Umbrella affordable and it was delivered to me very quickly. I bought this umbrella as the cheapest, but most functional to fit my needs, but didn't realize I'd need to spend more for a base. None the less, the umbrella is decent, but within a month the threads were almost completely ripped out of the strap that holds it to the frame. Any time there's decent wind and it's open we close it, and it stays wrapped when not out, so it's just low quality stitching. ... show more
