I bought a similar product at Home Depot for 10.00 more . I figured it would be good because it was the featured expanding hose they sold. It did not work right out of package . When I returned it the person at customer service said they get returned all the time. She said everyone complains they don’t work. I then purchased this hose and right out of the box worked perfectly, it expands and is light weight easy to store and carry around .     • Light weight, Compact, Practical but delicate
This hose is a great replacement for heavy, stiff rubber hoses for light uses around the house. It is light weight and you must empty it when finished using it each time while it shrinks back in size - NP. However be aware that the internal elastic membrane of the hose is very delicate. don't pull it through any sharp objects because it will pierce the inner membrane. This is my second hose and the first one developed a leak when I pulled it around a pillar with metal flashing. It pierced the hose inner membrane while not affecting the outer nilon surface at all. Once you get a leak this thing is toast. But, I did like the hose enough to buy a second one and will now be much more careful. ... show more

I maybe have to replace one every couple years but for me the lighter accordion hose is the way to go.

    • Does not last
I have purchased this hose twice and found that it just does not last. The first hose developed a leak out of nowhere after I had it for 2 months. I guessed I must have dragged the hose over something thorny and created a puncture. I replaced the hose with a second purchase and once again after only a few weeks the hose failed and started leaking at the bib connector. One other note. These hoses greatly reduce water pressure coming out of whatever you attach them to be it a sprinkler head or a hose end sprayer. This is due to the hose using water pressure to expand to full length, plus if you drag the hose to it's full length under pressure then open your sprayer the hose shrinks back significantly in length. Bottom line these expanding hoses are pure crap. ... show more

    • Works Great!
I went looking for an expandable hose after my husband installed a new hose hanger (where I asked) and came back and said "I think you're going to hate it - the hose is going to trash the plants around it." He was right. The hose was 100' long, the hanger wasn't big enough, and it was heavy. This is the PERFECT solution! It's extremely light weight (my 3yo niece can even use it - under supervision). The 50' length I purchased shrinks down so much that I only need to wrap it around the hanger 4-5 times and it only hangs down a foot or so. Plants will be fine! The shut-off valve is a nice feature and it comes with 2 extra gaskets - one of which I used on my spray nozzle. Nothing leaks, plants aren't mangled, and it looks good. I haven't measured the total distance once it's extended, but it's plenty long enough for my needs. You do need to remember to empty the hose once the water is turned off. I didn't rate Durability because I've only had this a couple weeks and used it a handful of times. But, that said, it does seem that it will hold up; perhaps (and hopefully) better than the similar hose (from someone else) that it replaced. It is best (IMHO) to toss the hose out to pretty much full unexpanded length and then turn on the water at the source, so you can let the hose expand naturally on its own. (I also fully drain it when done, and put it away. Which brings up a small point; this hose did NOT come with a storage bag. So I repurposed the bag from my original expanding hose. (Glad I saved it when I tossed out the old hose, which had developed a bad leak at the shut-off/attachment end.) Time will tell as to how durable this one will be. ... show more

    • Lifetime Warranty Lacking
This has been a great hose for several years. I have enjoyed the ease of using it. It has been taken care of, e.g., has been in a hose container and protected from the weather. Several weeks ago a leak occurred in the fabric just below the metal connector at the spigot, but not at the connector. Given a contact number by Amazon, I contacted the company for a replacement since it came with a lifetime warranty, which I might add was a good part of the reason for purchasing. After several back and forth emails that seemed to request at least some of the purchase information again, I would be getting a replacement, but NOT the same one originally purchased, but one (after looking it up) that was HALF THE PURCHASE PRICE of my original hose. I received the Silver Bullet Pocket Hose instead of the Flexihose. I realize that my hose cost less a few years ago, and that the replacement is actually closer to my original purchase price, but it's the same product that should be the replacement, despite inflation. Maybe it will last awhile, but the point is that they are falling short of their advertised lifetime warranty if they won't replace with the same product purchased. There were other reviewers who were pleased and gave positive reviews requested replacements. Perhaps the hose is not warrantied this way anymore, but it was when I purchased it and that matters to the customer. UPDATE: NECESSITY dictates that I must update this previous review; and I have gave a star less based solely on customer service rather than on product. The replacement (pocket hose) I received is no where near the hose I originally bought; and it's an understatement that I am frustrated, and that I even troubled myself to get my Flexi Hose replaced, as well as waiting about two weeks to receive it. I just hope no one pays good money for this pocket hose. You can not even put a nozzle on it; you twist the nozzle that's attached to turn it on, and when you twist to turn off it dribbles (leaks, rather) water from the spray nozzle. Maybe it's worth $30, but I don't think so, and the quality doesn't match up to the Flexi Hose, which is a pretty good hose; this pocket hose probably won't last very long. I'd rather pay a few bucks more for a better performing hose. The main point is THIS: IT WAS MY REPLACEMENT for the Flexi Hose that I have had, that came (or so it said) with lifetime warranty. If the company decided that the hose shouldn't have a lifetime warranty, that's fine as long as those that purchased under that warranty are honored if their hose tears up; they should replace it and inform the customer that hoses acquired after such and such date will not have a lifetime warranty. BOTTOM LINE: A company should stand true to what they advertise. I am more than disappointed. I will look for another hose from a different maker and hope this cheaper hose one can make it until then. P.S. How annoying to see the Flexi Hose on HD website and still advertising the Lifetime Warranty. ... show more
