Good quality material. Light weight until it is filled with sand or water. I used silicone play sand and it was easy to fill the unit. There is some confusion on the assembly instructions. They show in step 1 the use of a washer but it is not needed. Also the washer is not included in the parts delivered with the unit. I emailed the company and they were very responsive.

I bought a different water filled umbrella stand along with an umbrella from Lowe's when I needed shade in a hurry to cover my tile saw I had set up outside to work with. That stand was really flimsy and when the sun got on it, the plastic softened and the umbrella started leaning over. Searched for a better one at Amazon and came across this unit. It looked like it would be sturdy which I needed as was not using a table with a hole in the center to help support the umbrella. It worked great as it has a steel post that goes down through the center of the stand to a metal plate at the bottom giving much better support. The umbrella did not lean at all, even when the sun got on the base. I needed one that would use water as the weight as needed the base portable for my work. Flame and Shade also have fantastic customer support. When I was assembling the stand, I thought I was missing one of the parts which is the sleeve that you can add to the base for an umbrella with a smaller post which mine has. After using it for a few weeks, I decided to write to Flame and Shade and see if I could get the sleeve. They said they were all out for the season so just gave me a refund for the whole stand. I was not expecting that at all. Turned out the sleeve was already installed in the base which I discovered when taking it all down. When looking at the instructions, they listed the sleeve as loose piece so thought I was missing it. I contacted Flame and Shade to make things right and pay again for the stand but they said they were not able to reverse my refund or take a new payment so said to think of it as an Early Christmas present from them. I would highly recommend buying anything from this company. They were fantastic even when I was in error.

Sturdy enough for 1 7" umbrella but not crazy about the way it is designed to fill. If there were two openings to add the sand it would have been better. Great price and not a bad investment for a first time user. I would buy it again for a smaller umbrella.

I really like the base. It was easy to assemble. At first, I just put water in the base. It wasn't as heavy as I wanted it to be. I then emptied the water out and added a 50 lb bag of sand and then some water as well. The weight is much better now. Good purchase!

This is the second umbrella that I have had sent in the last week. It has a pin that is to come out and then be replaced when the umbrella is raised to the fullest capacity. The pin on the first umbrella would not come out, I have received a new umbrella which now the pin still does not come out and I'm also missing the bottom pieces that you slip into your stand. This to me is unsatisfactory. I'm not understanding why the PIN is in the umbrella in the first place if they want you to remove it and then replace it once the umbrella is fully extended. On the first umbrella I did receive all the boots that go into my umbrella stand but not this time. This is unacceptable and terrible quality.
