  • Great NG heater!
Pattern Name: Heater
Great quality, solid, very good output. I got tired of swapping propane tanks and wanted a slimmer profile Natural Gas unit, which are harder to find and often very pricey. I found this at a great price (most I saw were over $400, many over $1,000...) this lists for about $400 but was on sale for less than half that. I would have been happy even at full price. Well packaged, assembly wasn't bad, under an hour and decent instructions, included fasteners (several options, really...concrete, ground stakes, etc.) Photo has cover (not included) for winter but head unit is clean and we'll made, not cheap "value" brand, feels more like commercial grade. Good controls, tall, lights consistently, very happy with it. Definitely needs to be mounted, would be too tippy without being secured due to small footprint (also a plus for me, not wasting space), I just used four 3/16" lag screws into my deck. Once mounted, very secure, no chance of tipping or blowing over even in strong winds. Only shortcoming is the dome at the base is pretty lightweight plastic, but may be better than metal in bad weather (could have been a little beefier...). All in all, very satisfied, exceeded expectations. ... show more

  • Nice patio heater
Pattern Name: Heater
Be prepared for problem anchoring the heater. The expanding bolts need a very large 1/2โ€ concrete drill . I elected to buy other anchors that used 3/8โ€ drill bit. Since itโ€™s natural gas, the heat is not intense as with a propane heater.

  • Works great but unstable
Pattern Name: Heater
Works great. However, mine arrived damaged. It still works just fine but the top heat shield/reflector is bent and crinkled. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because without adding a significant base as others have done, it is extremely unstable.

  • Poor Base and Gas Hose is too short
Pattern Name: Heater
I have a natural gas outlet on my deck. The gas hose exposed at the base is only 15 inches long, and the manual says it should be at least 2 ft (24 inches) from the wall. I suggest increasing the gas hose exposed at the base to at least 4 ft and having a solid base. As a result, I have to buy a new hose paying $35. I also have to buy 1/2 Inch NPT Male X 3/8 Inch NPT Female, Threaded Pipe Fitting Adapter to connect the hose to my deck line ($5) It should have been nice if they provided these parts or at least mentioned these adjustments in the manual. The base is really small, and it cant stand on its own. With a simple touch, it will fall. They have included iron rods (if it's on the ground) and screws for the deck (these are big). I don't want to drill this big on my lovely deck, and if I do, I won't be able to move this around. So, Im going to buy a concrete stab and fix this using nuts and bolts ($10). The total additional cost of me is $50. ... show more

  • Good Value
Pattern Name: Heater
Fired up first use with no issues. 46 degrees outside in a t-shirt nice and toasty. Removed middle post section to make shorter. Mounted on 16", 5-wheel plant dolly filled with concrete and decorative rock. Used 1/2", 12' hose with quick connect to gas line.

  • How I solved the "base" problem
Pattern Name: Heater
The creativity of everyone here on how to mount this thing or to make a base is impressive! It helped me find a solution that works well for me. I did the following: -bought a 34lb patio stone (about 2.5" thick) from Home Depot -bought some Red Head 3/8" x 3" concrete anchors -I drilled completely through the stones in 4 spots (using the patio heater base as a template) -hammered in the concrete anchors (they just fit perfectly with about 1/2" poking up for the screw) -bolted the patio heater base to the above -threw out the ugly plastic base cover (the industrial look of the base is nicer than the plastic molding look of the base cover) ... show more

  • Hook it up with a quick connect
Pattern Name: Heater
I really like that I connected it with a quick connect natural gas line. Now getting ready to disassemble & put it away until winter. Just wish it had a base for stability. Also I recommend a heat diffuser.

  • Danger Will Robinson, Danger!
Pattern Name: Heater
The media could not be loaded. The heater itself puts out some great heat. However, it can be a bit dangerous if you are not paying attention. We set ours up and it started to smoke. We looked a little closer and the fire was actually coming out of the top mesh area. It's difficult to see the actual fire in the video, but it was definitely FIRE! Customer service was great, they sent us out a new replacement head, but that one arrived with a cut in the gas hose. So, they sent us out another replacement head. We haven't had a chance to install it yet so we don't know if this 3rd one will work or not. The reason for the 3 stars at this point is... I think their quality control should be better before they ship these things out. Ya know... since we are dealing with the possibility of being blown up! ... show more
