Never had a pool skimmer last this long and it’s far from done, been dipping leaves today. I pick up these 8-12” long spiney 1/8in diameter at most thistle-like nasty bits off a 50ft tall Redwood Tree, some have baby cones attached. Pulling them out of the mesh has yet to break/trash the netting, very impressive! I’ve sewn lots of fabrics and this is extremely tough mesh netting. For two years this laid outside wherever it landed, it bleached out from sun yet now 3 years have passed and still no damage. When I first got it, i’d make sure to lay it in the shade to preserve, then cancer hit my household. I’m so impressed by the two fellows that designed and made these seven years ago that I’ve came today to tell everyone it is worth every penny. I hate having to run and buy stuff made to break and that makes writing this review worth my time and my act of kindness today for everybody else like me. Enjoy! ;o) it worked causing no damage on my heavy mill vinyl lining, I bought the heavier mill liner last time, 20 was it? I forget. Buy it!

There are many more reviews on the 18" FibroPRO than on this one, so I was hesitant to purchase the larger one, but I'm glad I did. I was concerned that this 24" behemoth might be too big and unwieldy to handle, but not at all. It is no more cumbersome than the average 18" net, yet the capacity is much greater and the extra width is a blessing. I often blow my yard debris into the pool and then skim it out. Having an extra 6" of width makes the skimming much faster. It's also great for grabbing those long palm frond strings that tend to quickly overwhelm smaller nets. The dimensions of the opening at its widest points are 22.25" x 10.75". Construction-wise, this net can hold it's own against any I've used. The aluminum frame is sturdy and strong. The mesh seems to be very well double stitched. The additional protective mesh layer seems to be causing some confusion, but it works something like this: the net itself is very soft and malleable - not like the window screen style mesh that some other nets use. It is more like soft nylon that ball/equipment storage bags are made of. On pools like mine that have lots of rock landscaping and Pebble Tec, the soft net would be prone to snagging on things, so there is a protective half net partially attached to the front. This protective net has roughly 2" of stronger screen-like gusseting near the leading edge of the leaf rake, then the rest is a larger-holed mesh that is only attached on the sides. Kind of like an apron. It has no functional value other than to protect the rest of the net. It is not sewn together on the bottom, so cleaning out anything trapped between the layers is never a problem. Really quite an ingenious design. I can't yet comment on the long-term durability of this purchase. I live in Las Vegas where the sun pretty much destroys everything. I keep my brushes and vacuums in a shed, but my nets generally hang on a shaded wall outside. So we'll see how it holds up over time.

Bought this net in December 2016 and only now (November 2024) finally had to replace it as the net tore away from the frame. So it lasted 8 years - pretty good for these pool nets as past ones we had barely lasted a few years...

13 July 2020 . One day too late to return it. I have been taking care of my Florida home pools for 40 years, 52 weeks a year. 1. the thing is too heavy to be maneuverable. If you try to flip it around under water the weight drags it down and a good quantity of leaves will fall out. 2. I was attracted to the design of the lip believing it would help catch more leaves. Well, the shape is in the wrong direction to catch leaves as you pull it to you. So I find it leaving most of the leaves on the bottom of the pool as I draw it to me 3. The design of the lip doesn't seem to add anything when you push it away from you either. 4. I believe I got better value and ease of use from the standard leaf rake with the blue bag and aluminum frame. Certainly not a product I would recommend or purchase again.
