This cage is sturdy and looks great. It’s a good choice if you know your hamster doesn’t chew through things. My hamster won’t even chew toilet paper rolls, so I knew this was a safe choice for him. It’s reasonably priced for its size and the ability to pull out the bottom tray and dump it is priceless. The accessories are worthless, so you’ll need to have a water bottle, hidey house, and wheel. The water bottle didn’t actually let water out. Please test it carefully or use a bottle you know works. The house is too small for my dwarf and the wheel is flimsy and too small as well. The food dish is fine. The cage was very easy to assemble with a power drill but would take some elbow grease with a manual screwdriver. I didn’t use the metal grate for the bottom because hamsters can break legs on those. Plus, they need to be able to burrow into their bedding and the grate prevents that. The platforms are great for giving more space and they wipe clean easily. The only downside of platforms is hamsters poop on them and can easily knock poop out of the cage. I check the area around the cage daily and clean up when needed. Overall this cage works great as long as you replace the accessories and your hamster isn’t a super-chewing escape artist. ... show more

    • Cage wire spacing's good for Roborovskis
That's what I was searching for when looking for a cage, so that's my headline. Even babies can't squeeze between the wires. That said, the biggest issue I had was that they gnawed through the front corners of the plastic bin on the bottom and kept squirming free through it. I put a wooden dowel in the front and stopped that. Overall, I really like this cage vs the neon plastic competition. The cage size and spacing allowed for me to Frankenstein a couple of layers on with old cage pieces, which has worked very well for adding space. What I approve of most is that it LOOKS very nice. It's not a horrendous eyesore of a plastic bubble. It's an unobtrusive dull wooden cage that has ample space for hammies without standing out horribly. Plus it's mostly wire, not solid walls. I fill the bottom bin with sand, and they burrow about happily, but the whole cage has air circulation because the walls are wire instead of solid plastic. ... show more

Okay so this is my first ever review on a purchase, but let’s get started! The cage itself is beautiful it’s a decent size big enough for my teddy bear hamster, when I purchased this cage I was hoping for an easy assembly. Goodluck with the assembly part it’s sturdy once you get it together but it takes some time! Cleaning is more of you need to do a wipe down every couple of days and cleaning the tray is the hardest part if you have big wheels and toys at the bottom, the best thing to do while putting this cage together is put your accessories in there before putting the cage fully together because there is not taking it apart and the doors aren’t big enough for anything to fit through. I’m just stating facts about this cage, I love the cage it’s beautiful my Apollo loves it he has a decent amount of room and he loves it. The cage is just flawed in some ways but which one isn’t? I paid a good amount for it but would not do it again. ... show more

    • Hamster can chew right through it. Accessories are unusable.
We bought this because it looks nice and is a good size. However, it's a terrible design. It was pretty fiddly to assemble but I managed. Once it was done I realized that there are big sections where it's just wood, without bars. It's flimsy soft wood and our baby hamster chewed halfway through it in a few days, if we had left it she would have chewed all the way through and escaped. There are actually lots of sections that look like a hamster could chew through and escape. So I had to order wire mesh and stable gun online to reinforce the wood areas and stop her chewing through...another $25 and an hours work. ACCESSORIES 1 - The house is too small for a hamster, she couldn't fit inside. 2 - The wheel is super flimsy and wobbles so much that she can't get into her stride when she runs, eventually she just stopped using it. We replaced it with a different wheel and she now runs all the time. 3 - The water bottle doesn't dispense water, it gets clogged. It took a couple of days to realize that our poor hamster wasn't able to get any water and was severely dehydrated. 4 - the bowl is a bowl...can't go wrong. Lastly, I thought that once I assembled it that would be the last time I had to deal with it, but you have to half disassemble it every time you clean it which takes forever.     • More cleaning
Got this cage for my two female mice to give them more space. It’s a beautiful cage but the whole thing is wood. Keep in mind, woods sucks up any of their pee. It looks like the platforms were coated with something to prevent that unless it’s just a small Polish. But it doesn’t seem to help much, Therefore the smell can get tough to clean out compared to a more solid surface like metal or plastic. It can easily be solved with just a more upkeep schedule compared to other cages. Soo keep in mind you’ll be cleaning this more often compared to other cages. It’s just something that the owner should be willing to do to keep it maintained for their lil babies. I personally think it was worth the money just a huge hassle to assemble, but it comes with instructions soo you’ll survive. It has a very nice sleek look compared to other cages that are just a bunch of crazy colors. And easier to clean since the bottom of the cage has a plastic bin that slides in and out to clean the bedding. I’ve seen a lot of reviews that made me doubt buying this because their pet would chew through the wood. Owners should know their pet to see if they would have the tendency to chew on the wood or not. And my mice don’t have a habit of chewing since they have their own chewing sticks to keep them occupied. That’s some thing I would suggest if you feel like it would be an issue. ... show more
