They work well for indoor applications like lights, Christmas Trees, fans, etc. They have an o/off button but you do need to load an App on a smart device (phone or tablet) to get full functionality. I gave them 4 stars because they often go offline and need to be unplugged to reset. The additional features like timers, groups and smart scenes are a little complicated to figure out and the instructions are not great for these. I've used a number of their products before, like their Wi-Fi enabled light smart switches, LED light bulbs, and LED light fixtures, so when trying these smart plugs, I expected them to work pretty good and they do. They work! This is one product that the hardware and iPhone software work great. This is my second order. I have had the others for over a year and have had no problems. You can even turn your light or radio on while away remotely. Never come home to a dark house or an outer building. Turns on any electrical appliance, light or equipment that has an on/off power switch. Can’t say they will or won’t work on a soft touch switch. Software allows you to set just a timer or set a schedule. On and off at designated times, all on the same day or even different times on different days. Very versatile in usage. It is 15A so you can connect and control pretty much all the household appliances and it works like a charm. Only downside is about certain functions of the software. When I purchased this smart plug, I did it because it offered a software that could show you how much electricity the appliance consumes and it does but it somehow doesn’t show an accurate info. It looks like it’s keep showing the same info on the daily consumption part which what’s important. I compared the data by connecting the same appliance to a more sophisticated smart plug and the results were different as the other item gave me a more real time data. I purchased this so I could control my lights at home when I am traveling. It has an app and you can schedule when the lights can turn on and off. Very happy with that, but not happy with my Wi-Fi bulbs which disconnect a lot.
