The Wyze Outdoorn Pug has been reliable and problem free. I’m using two of these outdoors to control café lights, yard lights, and a big zapper, and they’ve powered everything and worked exactly as expected. They are small enough to tuck away and the small cord makes it work with my outdoor plugs. Setup was straightforward, and I haven’t had any connection issues since installing them. They’ve stayed responsive even being used outside daily, so they are definitely durable and waterproof. The Wyze app is simple and intuitive, making it easy to turn each outlet on or off individually. I also appreciate the flexibility — I can control the plugs through the app, by voice, or by setting up schedules. Being able to automate lighting based on time of day has been especially convenient. Integration with Google Home has been seamless. Voice commands work reliably, and the plugs respond quickly without lag. Having dual outlets in one unit is also a nice touch, reducing the need for multiple outdoor plugs. Overall, these have been dependable, practical, and easy to manage. Although these are for outside I bought these for use inside in areas where I need two plugs controlled by one outlet. I cannot believe how easy these setup and just connected to Wi-Fi, right out of the box, compared to other smart devices in my house. I did not have to play any games, drop the security on my router or any other weird stuff. They did come with a firmware that was approximately a year old. And a couple of them took a couple tries to update the firmware but, overall, now that they're all updated they're working even better. These devices were truly a joy to work with and I will not hesitate to buy Wyze devices again! I do have one, very, very annoying complaint though ... Why in the world don't these have a 90 degree plug !?!? Especially If they are designed to work outdoors and in a protected box. For the future ... Two nice features would be dimmable or three way sockets. Update Aug 2023: We had a Thunderstorm and power outage. Since then, all of these have remained disconnected in both the Wyze and Alexa apps while every other device in the house has well since reconnected. This is NOT good as they are buried behind couches, buffets, etc ... Those I can see just sit there with the blue light blinking. I was able to unplug two of them and plugged them back in but they still will not reconnect. Lowering my rating as this is an absolutey HUGE issue if this happens every power outage and everything has to be re-setup. Update June 2024: There must have been some kind of firmware update because now they seem to reconnect with no issues after a power outage. Moving my review back up to five stars.

I have two of these at this point. I use the Wyze security cams, doorbell, and robot vacuum. Safe to say I'm a fan of the brand, but these are so convenient. Here's how I'm utilizing them. My house has a big back yard but no spotlights. I had bought solar powered lights before, but they only ever lasted a year or so. I bought plug in spot lights that are much brighter than the solar powered ones and ran extension cords to them. Now I can actually see my dogs in the back yard when I let them out. My setup to my outside is weird - my upper deck has 0 exterior outlets, but I do have one directly underneath on my lower steps. I ran a short extension cord from this smart plug up to my deck, and now I can easily turn on my string lights without having to either go downstairs to plug them in or run a cord through my house and having to prop open my door. TLDR; the ability to remotely control electronics through an app I already use makes my life so much easier. I've had my first one for about 2 years now. Never had any issues.

When they work, they're great. However be warned in my experience approximately 1 in 5 (20%) don't work properly as they won't configure with the network. If you dealing with a strict time line you might want to get an extra one. Make sure to check them upon receipt. Also works great with Christmas lights.

Being able to schedule and monitor energy use on outdoor lights and equipment right from the app has been genuinely useful, not just a gimmick. The IP64 rating has held up fine through rain, and setup with Alexa was painless.

We purchased this to use with holiday lights, wanting an easy way to schedule on/off cycles, and also control the lights directly whether we're home or away. We've found this plug delivers well for those use cases. Notes: * The cord on this is approximately 5". The "box", is approximately 2.75"W 4"H and 1.5"D. * The plugs are standard 15A at 120 volts, 60 hertz (approximately 1,800 watts) * The plugs do not have dimming capabilities, these are on/off only * The plugs (2) work independently of eachtother * All schedules or rules are created in the app, the plug does not have "controls" on it, other than on/off buttons * These operate on 2.4GHz so they will work within a 'normal' range for this band. Ours is within 25' of our home and we've never experienced an issue with connectivity. * Setup and connection to the Wyze app was simple and pain free. Creating a schedule was also quick and easy. Improvement suggestion: The plug is designed to hang down, which intelligently keeps rainwater from coming near the points of contact. It would have been great if they used a 90 degree plug rather than the "straight out" plug which causes the cord to then bend at a 90 degree angle. The cord is thick enough that I don't have concerns about it failing, but it seems like this small alteration would have been a no-brainer. I see this on many of the cheaper, off-brand versions of these outdoor smart plugs. At just under $10 and are very pleased with its construction and performance. We have other Wyze devices in our home so it was nice to purchase a Wyze plug and not have to download yet another app to control smart devices. If you use Alexa, this should work well for you, too.

It's a nice form factor. Based on my experience, don't bother. To set the stage - My home has over a dozen IoT devices. Point is, I'm no stranger to installing and troubleshooting Iot. My time investment over three days was in excess of two hours attempting to get this device operational. Wyze support was willing to preserver, I was not. Wyze was willing to send another unit, again I put more than enough of my time on this device. I will have better luck somewhere else. It may be the device just had a malfunction, or, perhaps, it was just not compatible with my network configuration. That said, I have a Wyze Cam working just fine and had no trouble getting it set up. I'm bothering to write this review to both praise and critique my experience with Wyze. An important point of this is even after letting them know I'm not interested in additional troubleshooting, support wanted to keep me engaged. That was until I finally got through to them, that I no longer wanted the device but had the device orphaned on my Wyze app home page, and the app would not let me remove the device. Since then communication has stopped. The app will not allow me to remove the Outdoor Plug because it is stuck at updating the plug's firmware. This is not something that can be excused or worked around as far as I can tell. A failed firmware update was experienced across about twenty attempts. Each time following Wyze support's instructions to the letter. BTW - I tried from two different Android platforms. To remove a device from the app, one pokes the device on home screen and select settings wheel for the device. You cannot get to the settings if the app determines a device firmware update is required. Unless the device is online and willing, that won't happen. Therein is the problem I face. App designers have not provided a way to bypass the firmware update requirement and if the device won't accept it you get stuck with a useless orphaned device. I'm still waiting to hear from Wyze support on this. Guessing this problem does not have a solution. Color me unhappy.
