I purchased this to replace a cheap Ridgid vacuum which was horrible. This vacuum is everything the Ridgid wasn't- it is relatively quiet, has a long, heavy cord, and a long hose. I was choosing between the Fein and a Festool dust extractor. I already have a Festool and it is an excellent vacuum which I use mostly for dust collection when running tools. I chose to purchase the Fein because I wanted something easier to carry around, and to use for both dust collection with tools and for clean up. The Fein is not inexpensive, but it is considerably less costly than a Festool, especially when you factor the accessories that are included in the set. I have only had the Fein a short time, but so far I am thoroughly pleased and would purchase again. One complaint is the proprietary hose connection which requires some force to press in the buttons to release the attachment, and also limits use of non Fein attachments. I had two Festool cleaned vacuums in my old garage home shop and loved them. I had to sell them when we moved and needed a garage vacuum in our new house. I'm familiar with the quality of Fein power tools and did some research. I decided to spend a little less than the cost of a Festool cleaned and chose the Fein Turbo I. It is very well made and works as advertised. The one complaint I have with the hose storage. The Festool had a "hose garage" on the top of the vacuum which neatly stored the coiled hose. The Fein has no such feature (I've looked for an after-market or Fein hose storage accessory but there is none). So, you have to loop the hose around the stored attachments on top of the unit which is awkward and doesn't hold the hose in place (it's always falling off). Other than that annoyance, it's a good vacuum which you can plug a power tool into to the vac comes on with the tool etc. So, it's ok. But it's not a Festool. ... show more

Never had a dust extractor work like I wanted until this. Even while sanding down the ugly drywall texture it doesn’t let the dust escape. A must have if you’re OCD about keeping work area clean.

This machine is far superior to the $150 shop vac I had been using and I regret not changing sooner. The suction and noise level decrease is significantly better. I love the auto-on feature when a tool is plugged into it.
