Solid filter. Strong flow. I have two of them. Both work great and no major issues. They do need to maintainced every month of so but it's simple. Just squeeze out the filter sponge in some aquarium water and check that the impeller is free of debris or algae. If not, the sponge will get clogged up or the impeller can get restricted. It's not a design issue, it's a user's lack of general maintenance issue. I have one in a 29g to push water around and another in a 9g for a Betta. I use the directional output tubing to slow down and control the flow for the Betta so it's not too fast. I particularly like to add these in an established tank so they can become ready for a new tank. The only thing I've found I dislike is they can be noisy. This tends to happen when the bottom edge of the filter is in contact with the glass. It can rattle a bit. So, I either mess with the cord so there's a counter force helping to pull the bottom away from the glass or since the bottom is solid, I rest the bottom on the substrate.

This is a pretty decent little filter. It keeps my tank clear, it's super quiet, and it's very adjustable. I recommend it for betta tanks, as it does not create a super strong current that might distress a betta. It is a little flimsy feeling and it is constantly tilting sideways on the glass from the lid pressing on the cord, but that's fine, it's not in there to be decorative. After a few weeks the sponge developed a good bacterial colonization and it's working well both physically and chemically to keep my water clean. I have it in a 10 gallon tank and it works.

Seems to work as advertised but the impeller is very noisy. Update: I contacted the seller (Ibay-Life) about the noise and they were very responsive, immediately offering to replace the item or refund the price. So it seems you can expect good customer service if you have an issue with the product.

had this for my quarantine tank. It stop working altogether when it decided to pop open. when it does work its great, very quiet, and powerful. when it decides to not work, primarily the air bubbler, you will have to take it out, dry it, and literally blow into the tube to the air flowing again. its cheap, so you get what you paid for. i would not recommend this if you are trying to actually make a display tank. it does the job for a quarantine tank.

The media could not be loaded. 5-STAR UPDATE: Seller refunded my money promptly, which was MUCH appreciated. The filter itself, as just a filter and mover of water, works very well. The aerator will fit the actual pump if you jam it in there, but won't attach to the spray bar, but c'est la vie. If you JUST want to filter water and NOT aerate, its still great for the price. But I bought it specifically to use the aerator AND the spray bar, which doesn't work. I appreciate the seller getting back to me quickly and making it right, this alone is worth a 5-Star review on Amazon these days. I will definitely buy one of these again in the future for a future tank build, but for now I'm going to use the refund to buy an aerator and air stone. FEATURES: It has an adjustable flow switch which is nice. At peak flow it is overpowered for my 7 gallon nano aquarium (unless you want to create a significant current, which might be desirable for whatever kind of tank you're building) but this flow rate works great in my 15 gallon cube aquarium. At low flow it is PERFECT for my 7 gallon nano aquarium, so the filter can be used in a variety of tanks. I will almost certainly buy one of these again in the future for other aquariums, the spray bar feature is great and very versatile, as you can keep it below the water line to motivate water, you can aim it in multiple directions and swivel the nozzles, AND you pop the bar above the water line to slightly aerate the surface of the water and create a nice waterfall effect. The filter media reservoir is large enough to fit many layers of media if you want to customize the filtration (I'm using loose carbon media in a media bag, a polishing media pad and carbon pad). All in all, for the price, it's hard to beat. The suction cups can pop out a little too easily, and for some reason the top of the filter has a lid that can come off too easily (I can't tell what it is supposed to be for, as it doesn't expose any working part), but that kind comes with the "$15 filter" territory, and the other features more than make up for it. !!!One important note is that the slits to the intake/filter media, while very small, are still too big for tiny fish fry or baby shrimp to avoid getting sucked in to the filter.. Even expensive filters have this problem and I fixed it by super glueing a strip of filter media bag around the intake of the filter, it took about 3 minutes. See the fix in the pictures (it's the white material at the bottom of the filter.). ORIGINAL REVIEW: So far the actual filter and water pump work great, but the part I received that I was hoping to add an air pump feature to the tank does not fit anywhere and does not visually match the described part I thought I would receive.. It is filtering well (I used different filtering media than what it arrived with, although if your just looking for a large detritus filter and water agitation and O2 aeration, this filter is absolutely great, provided you receive the advertised parts) and moving water almost ENTIRELY silently (It really is super quiet), but it didn't come with the part I wanted and that was described in the description that would also allow me to add O2 to the tank. SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS. I WOULD HAVE EASILY GIVEN 5 STARS IF PARTS WERE CORRECT!
