A self-basting stainless steel lid helps seal in heat and moisture, plus this 6-quart stockpot is dishwasher safe and oven safe to 350°F. The generous stockpot is a great addition to the other pots and pans in the Farberware Classic Series collection. Prepare complete meals in this ample Farberware Classic Series Stainless Steel 6-Quart Stockpot with Lid that cleans up easily in the dishwasher. Functional as well as beautiful, this 6-quart stockpot is made of heavy 18/0 stainless steel polished to a mirror finish and has an aluminum core in its base that spreads heat quickly and evenly. The core is completely clad in stainless steel so, like the rest of the pot, the bottom resists corrosion and discoloring and cleans up easily. Thick rolled rims add durability and make it possible to pour from the pan without dripping. Because the pan comes with a domed lid that self-bastes foods it can be used for braising on the stovetop or in the oven. (The handles are oven-safe to 350 degrees F and stay cool on the stovetop.) I ordered this pot because the 7 ply one I have is way too heavy for me to pick up when it has anything in it and has a "squared off" top edge which makes it impossible to pour out of even if I could pick it up. A few months ago I ordered the Farberware Classic Stainless 3 quart sauce pan and love the fact that is is light weight, has a rounded edge on top, cooks evenly and works perfectly on my ceramic cook top. SO it was logical to order the same thing in the 6 quart soup/stew size. The day this pot arrived I immediately washed and dried it and made a batch of stew. It is a very nice pot. It is medium weight, but I can still pick it up when it is half full of food or liquid. Like its little sister, the 3 quart sauce pan, it cooks evenly and works perfectly on my ceramic cook top. The next morning I made a batch of almond milk. Although I actually make the milk in my blender, I strain the liquid through a nut milk bag into this pot and am able to pick up the pot and tip it to pour my 2 quarts of homemade milk into jars without spilling any down the sides. This is great! I only wish I had ordered a complete set of these Farberware Classic pans 2 years ago instead of the horrendously expensive 7 ply set that I bought at that time. Overall I like this pot (and the Farberware stainless steel pots and pans in general). Sturdy construction (with a steel lid that I like after having broken a glass lid on a different pan), heats well and cleans pretty easily. Took off one star because the handles get really hot, and somehow stay hot even if you run it under water and cool the rest of the pot down. I think hoop style handles would have been better; they don't heat up as much and are easier to grip. ... show more

6 qt stock pot.. At first I thought about returning. I bought it to replace my 8 qt stock pot, which is just too big for me now. But the 6 qt is within 2 inches of the 8 qt. However mr 8 qt is too large to store, so this 6 qt is a keeper. Matches my vintage Farberware perfectly. It's great when a manufacture sticks to it's original design for generations. One thing I like too is that farberware is relatively affordable compared to newer brands. I now have 5 pieces + a covered frying pan, so that makes 6. I have another one on the way. (a single handle 2 qt sauce pot . Each pot I have is 2 handled and can be challenging to pour from. So I ordered a single handle coming this week for easy pouring. My original 8 qt was my Mother's that she gave to me OVER 30 years ago, and I have added to the set over time. Glad its still the same design. Always easy to clean even with an accidental burn. Vinegar and baking soda is all it takes to get burned gunk off. Burning a pot is one of the evils of Face Book LOL. But thank goodness Farberware is designed to survive.
