  • Tool Box Asset!!!
Style: iPhone 14 and Older - For iOS with Light...
As a facilities manager, I use this Flir for my inspections and it is an amazing tool. I've even used it to locate irrigation leaks in the lawn and to map out where the electric ceiling heat is located in a house so a radon system could be installed where the elements are not located. The image showed a clear contrast of the elements and the voids between the tubes. Love having the ability to take pictures or record as well. ... show more

  • Make no mistake, FLIR is the industry standard for Infrared Thermography
Style: iPhone 14 and Older - For iOS with Light...
I trained and certified on $10k FLIR T530 equipment, and I have to say that this FLIR Pro LT model (iPhone Lightning) does exceptionally well for what it is designed to do. As the mantra goes- in IR, it is all about Focus, Focus, Focus. Aligning the visible light camera depending on your distance yields marked improvement in your scans, as does maintaining a consistent distance and blocking of your own heat signature on your target. The fact that this device is self powered means you can tether and position the equipment to further avoid reflective degradation of your target due to emissivity issues. I was skeptical of the performance to cost ratio, but I liked the results of the iPhone Lightning Pro LT model so much, I upgraded to the full Pro. The battery life is no mystery- FLIR fully discloses this in the user manual. 45 minutes to 1 hour of scan time. I've included a T530 scan, and 3 others from the LT. Happy Scanning! ... show more

  • Versatile and User-Friendly with Limitations
Style: iPhone 14 and Older - For iOS with Light...
The Flir One Pro thermal camera, designed to work seamlessly with iPhones using the lightning connection, is a tool that blends innovation with practicality. I have used this camera for a variety of tasks, from identifying insulation gaps in my home to spotting nocturnal wildlife and even aiding in home improvement projects like hanging paintings. While the Flir One Pro stands out in certain aspects, it also has limitations that potential users should consider. Versatility and Use Cases: The Flir One Pro's versatility is its strongest suit. Its ability to easily connect to an iPhone makes it incredibly user-friendly for various applications. Detecting insulation gaps is effortless, providing a clear understanding of where heat loss occurs in a home. Its utility extends beyond typical use cases; for instance, its effectiveness in spotting animals in trees at night is remarkable. The camera also proves handy for DIY projects, such as locating beams in walls, which is invaluable for safe and precise installation of fixtures and artwork. Connectivity and App Features: Another commendable feature is the device's connectivity. The lightning connection to the iPhone is stable and reliable, ensuring seamless integration with the phone's interface. The accompanying app is robust, offering a range of options and settings that enhance the thermal imaging experience. These features make the Flir One Pro not just a thermal camera but a sophisticated diagnostic tool. Accuracy: In terms of accuracy, the Flir One Pro delivers commendably. It provides detailed thermal readings, making it a reliable tool for both professional and personal use. This level of precision, especially in identifying problematic areas in home insulation, adds significant value to the device. Drawbacks - Frame Rate and Resolution: However, the Flir One Pro is not without its drawbacks. The most notable is its low frame rate and resolution, especially when compared to newer and often cheaper alternatives in the market. These limitations can affect the clarity and smoothness of the thermal imaging, especially in dynamic situations or when fine details are crucial. Battery Life and Charging: Another downside is its reliance on an independent battery, which requires regular charging. The inconvenience of the device not drawing power directly from the iPhone means that one might often find the camera with a depleted battery when needed. This aspect can be particularly frustrating for users who require the camera for spontaneous or urgent tasks. Cost Consideration: Lastly, the cost of the Flir One Pro is a significant factor. It is an expensive device, and while it offers a range of applications, its price point might not justify its purchase for everyone. Potential buyers should assess their specific needs and frequency of use before investing in this thermal camera. Conclusion: In conclusion, the Flir One Pro thermal camera is a sophisticated and versatile tool that excels in connectivity and accuracy. Its range of applications, from home improvement to wildlife observation, is impressive. However, its lower frame rate and resolution, coupled with the inconvenience of battery charging and a high price tag, make it a device best suited for those with specific, frequent uses for thermal imaging. ... show more

  • Excellent thermal imaging tool for PCB analysis
Style: Android with USB-C
Thrilled with the performance of this camera using the free flir app (also excellent) on android. I do electronic ckt and PCB design and primarily use it with my phone (pixel 3A) to image PCBs for thermal analysis. It views in real time and optionally detects the hottest (and/or coldest) spot, and can also be configured with a few other (reposition-able) spots to report the specific temperatures at those points. Displayed temp values update very rapidly (seems around 10 times per sec or so). Saved images are saved as readily viewable .JPG files, but those files also invisibly include all the thermal data for every pixel in the image. These images can be further analyzed on a PC using the "FLIR tools" app (downloaded free from FLIR). In that app the image color scheme and range can be scaled/changed. You can display spot temps, average or peak or minimum temps within user defined regions. I generally use the camera at a distance of around 6 inches and get fine results. The only downside I've noticed when using it that close is that the optical image overlay on the thermal image does not align very well, so I just disable that feature. Quick start usage guide (for android): Charge the camera. (must be charged using it's USB-C charging jack - does not get charged at all from phone) Download/install the Flir phone app on google play. Optionally download Flir Tools (PC app) from FLIR website. Camera works without this, but allows later analysis of saved images. You might need to provide your proof of purchase details to download. Before plugging the (charged) camera into the phone, first turn it on by pressing the button on bottom of camera. LED in button will light. Not sure if this is just with mine, but the button doesn't seem to depress when pushed, but just the pressure of my finger on the button turns it on. Once on, now plug it onto the phone. Note that the knob behind the USB plug can be turned to adjust the length of the plug to fit a recessed USB port due to a phone case. The (previously downloaded) app should automatically start within a few secs of when the camera is plugged in. If it doesn't automatically start, open the app directly. The camera views the scene in real time, and snapshot images are saved to your phone just as normal photos. They can be transferred (as JPG) to your PC via the normal methods (email, USB, etc) where they can be further viewed, analyzed, printed using the Flir Tools app. ... show more
