  • If you have pets that shed, you need this!
Style: X8 Pro SES
Okay, first let me just say that when I bought this vacuum there were only 6 reviews, and 5 of them were from verified product reviewers who got the vacuum for free, so I was skeptical at best. But we have 5 dogs (2 Shepherds, a Pyrenees, and 2 tiny mutts) and a cat, plus I had a baby 6 months ago, so 5 of us shed really bad, and 2 of us don't. I'll let you figure out that riddle 😜 Naturally, having a baby who is learning to crawl, I wanted our floors to be fur free, but I'm also active duty military and often work long hours because of that, we have a 14 year old involved in all of the sports and schedules that entails, and my husband and I play indoor soccer two nights a week. Ain't nobody got the time or the energy to sweep every single day. Plus, it doesn't help that I'm the only human in my home that knows how to use a broom, apparently. Having said that, I usually do my research at nauseum, but was really concerned when this vacuum had very little in way of reviews. Honestly, I was 1 click away from buying the roborock quevo when I decided that I had to try this machine. At the time of purchase I owned a Shark. When I bought it, it's biggest selling point was that it was bagless, and I didn't want to spend a fortune on bags, but I'll get to that in a minute. For comparison sake, I'll be comparing the shark to the eufy, because it's night and day y'all. The pros: it has an automatic brush detangler that works so well!! The attached pic is after 2 days of use on what was initially an unswept floor. I am not kidding when I say that the shark would leave clumps 3 times that size behind, not to mention, the shark would constantly get stuck because hair would get caught on the ends of the brush roller and wouldn't allow it to roll at all. So what did I do? Well I bought multiple filters and rollers, and after months of vigorously cleaning it after each use and swapping out parts, it would still get stuck mid-clean, every time. But the Eufy will stop mid-clean, detangle, and go right back to cleaning. You can set multiple schedules to include set schedules for different rooms, which really helps keep the fur down. I could only set 1 schedule for the whole house with the shark, which meant my dogs had shed a whole other dog worth of fur and the shark had to get it all at once and here I am just thinking "may the odds be ever in your favor." Newsflash: the shark was not built of the same stuff that Katniss Everdeen was. It has 3 suction settings. Because we have all these furry critters, I run it on the highest suction level, which does take more battery, but I have it scheduled to basically split the house in half, cleaning 1 half and then the other half 2 hours later, which gives it plenty of time to recharge, and I gotta say, my floors have never been this clean. It has a mop attachment.... that I haven't used yet. But when you have 5 dogs and a doggy door and you're at work when it rains, you're going to come home to muddy paw prints everywhere. I'm just hoping the mop will make less work for me. The sensor is awesome and updates in real time as it runs. Which means that when my toddler rides her scooter to the middle of my living room the eufy sees it rather than knocking it over. Or when my Pyrenees is too lazy to move out of the way, it goes around him. The app is super easy to use and shows you where the vacuum is in real time. It also keeps a log of all of your cleanings. There are no go zones you can set, although I haven't messed with those yet, and you can spot clean simply. Overall it's user friendly. It has a child lock and I have a feral toddler. Do I need to say anymore? It has a do not disturb mode, so that it won't start in the middle of the night (or whatever time you set) for whatever reason (maybe you're not using the child lock and a dog bumps a button). The cons: it has a bag and the bags are rather pricey, but I figure I can just put a zipper in one and problem solved. It sure beats paying for all of the replacement parts I was buying for the shark. It is rather loud, but remember, I run it on the highest suction, so that's to be expected. During the week, I just have the schedule set for when we're not home. Cords are it's kryptonite. And my husband's headphones are usually casualty #1. He constantly leaves them on the ground and then I complain, he does better for a few days, and then it's back to business as usual. However, I feel this is a bigger con for my husband than the vacuum. The battery only lasts about an hour on high suction, but this isn't that big of a deal since I can set multiple schedules. I need that high suction so I can walk around in my socks without giving them a winter coat. Overall , so far, I'm thrilled with this purchase. I can walk around in socks or bare feet comfortably, and when my fam stops by unannounced I don't have to rush to clean up or be embarrassed that I can't keep up with all the things. ... show more

  • Great Suction, Great Mapping, Great Vac!
Style: X8 Pro SES
The media could not be loaded. We had a Shark robovac for 2 years. A couple of months ago it stopped operating properly. No firmware updates or resets would help. With 2 retrievers and a small house, I needed a replacement, and fast. Using the upright once a day just doesn’t cut it. After doing loads of research, and also having a great experience with another Eufy product (security cameras), I decided to go for it during the Black Friday sales. It took forever to get here, but today it arrived and it was super easy to set up. It comes really well packaged with simple, easy to follow instructions. Plug in the base unit, place the vac against it, and download the app while you wait for it to charge. Connecting to WiFi is seamless. After you update firmware and it has a full charge, press the “clean” button and off it goes. The realtime map it creates is accurate, and you can even watch the wee vac make its laps on the app. The app is heads and tails above the Shark’s. But the most important part - the cleaning. Suction power is fabulous. It even leaves beautiful track patterns on my area rugs. I can’t find any dog hair on my floors, and it left no corner unturned. It emptied twice into the bagged canister (which I love!), and multiple times performed a cleaning of the brush rollers during the vacuuming process. Compared to the Shark it is quiet. It’s solidly made, and doesn’t struggle to return to the base or dock like my Shark did. If the Eufy vac continues to perform this well, I’ll be thrilled. I’m very impressed with Eufy products. If you are looking for a robovac that does it’s job, look no further. Edited to show the app in action. I love watching it zip around my house. Yes I’m boring haha. ... show more

  • Effective, Easy Setup, Dock Requires SPACE
Style: X8
The vacuum works great; suction power is adjustable and can be set to adjust automatically. Setup is as easy as finding a place to set up the charging dock (with 3' to each side and 6' in front) charge the vacuum, and press go; the first run will create a map that can be edited and adjusted to create specific zones and rooms. Any subset of the map can be set to clean on a 7 day schedule and down to the minute, or, at will with the push of a button in the app. The vacuum isn't exactly quiet but, it's not so loud that you can't hear anything over it. Pet hair is no challenge, and even cat litter gets picked right up. This vacuum is for day to day cleaning and will not replace a regular vacuum for deep cleaning on carpet; if you're sitting on solid flooring surfaces you'd likely only need a mop alongside this unit. Aside from the significant open space needed around the dock, my only complaint is that there's no warning system in place for the dust bin; users are expected to empty the container regularly but, it's easy to forget and, scheduled cleaning while away from home could become problematic. For the lack of warning system or automatic shutoff for the dust bin, I have deducted one star. Edit: We've been running this for a few months now; within a couple days our house looked and felt more clean. We haven't had any trouble with performance but, the vacuum does need a little regular maintenance; every few weeks it's a good idea to flip it over and clean the beater bar of wrapped up hair/fibers/etc. I find the dust bin needs to be emptied about once a week. The top of the unit attracts and shows a great deal of dust but, it's easy to wipe off with a cleaning cloth. I have had a bit of trouble with firmware updates; the last update simply wouldn't complete. After numerous tries I eventually tried power cycling the vacuum and that did the trick. I noticed the map of our house is a bit strange; we have a long hallway in our ranch and the map sectioned off the hallway to include portions as part of two of the bedrooms. It's not terribly difficult to edit this but, the app only allows for a certain level of zoom and with that maxed, it's a little cumbersome to draw an intersecting line. I went back to clean up some of the map today and ended up getting and error, which caused problems with the vacuum operation and forced me to delete the map and start over. It would be great if the app allowed for a map backup to be stored to prevent this issue. Overall, I'm still very happy with this. We love this vacuum so much we ended up buying another for my wife's parents, who also love theirs. ... show more
