  • Useful and easy to use
I've become a pandemic stay-at-home cook for my family and have gradually expanded my arsenal of kitchen tools. I'm been somewhat frustrated by temperature variations between my different skillets (non-stick, cast iron, stainless steel) and thought I'd try this out. The bottom line is that it's extremely easy to use (the dual laser beams really work) and it's quite educational in terms of knowing more precisely what's going on in the pan (at least temperature wise). Has it transformed my cooking? Not really, but I've no regrets and continue to practice with it each time I pre-heat a pan! ... show more

  • The extra laser dot is worth the few extra dollars!
This thermometer really works, and the dual laser is worth the few extra dollars you'll spend for it. By using two lasers, you can not only aim the thermometer but also gauge the distance/spot size (imagine a circle sandwiched between the two laser dots) so you know exactly how much area you're averaging. (Documentation and a handy label on the unit recommend a distance of 14 inches for the best result). I tested against other thermometers and found this one to be very accurate. For less than $20 it feels like a much more expensive instrument because the details are "just right". Pull the trigger and there's a delay of just under a second while the device calibrates; then the lasers and backlight come on. The display shows the current spot temperature plus the maximum so far for that session. Buttons are in a good place; you can turn off the lasers or screen backlight if you don't need them (and those settings are remembered!), and the display holds for just the right amount of time after you release the trigger. It's educational to just walk around your house and measure the temperature of ordinary things: a human's skin temperature runs around 87-90F, coffee from a single-pot brewer just over 140F. It's great that it's instantaneous and there's nothing to clean after each measurement. Once you know these temperatures you'd be able to spot issues (air conditioning not cold enough? Refrigerator at the right temperature? What temperature is "6" on the stove?. ... show more

  • Great infrared thermometer.
It's a great tool to have in the house. I used it to measure the temperature on my condensing fan motor, my ac compressor and even food temperature on the stove. Highly recommend it.

  • Very happy with my purchase
This is a great product. The plastics feel very high quality, and have a great texture and good feel in the hand. It gets a reading instantly, and appears to be accurate to within a degree, at least when compared with other thermometers I have. Moving it around to different surfaces, it seems to get a new reading in about 3/4 second. It's dead simple to use; just pull the trigger and it automatically turns on and gets a reading, then turns off after 15 seconds. The screen is very easy to read, and the controls are very simple, but you won't need them often anyway. This thing feels much more expensive than the price would lead you to believe, and I couldn't be happier with it. As an added bonus, my cats love the dual laser pointers. ... show more

  • Great and accurate unit for quick temp. measurements.
Pros: Auto turn-off After measuring the temp., will hold the temp. number after releasing the trigger. Display lights up automatically in the dark. Battery included Excellent detailed English instructions and illustrations included Cons: No way to attach a lanyard or having a way to "hang" this unit if needed. A simple hole at the base of the handle would be nice. After removing the plastic around the 9 volt battery I was able to connect the battery and the unit became operational right away. Understanding how to obtain a correct measurement is necessary in-order to have more accurate readings. When the unit is activated, two red dots (laser) will show. Move the unit toward or away from the object being measured (about 14 inches) until the two red dots become one red dot. Read this measurement. I found focusing on obtaining the "one red dot" and then looking at my measurement obtained the best readings with this unit. After releasing the trigger and the red dot goes away, the measurement will remain displayed for about 15 sec. before auto-turning off. So, focus on obtaining the one red dot, release the trigger, then read the display for the temp. obtained. Overall, a very excellent unit, well constructed and expect to be using it for a very long time. I would recommend this unit. ... show more

  • Wow, Great Product at a Great Price
This does exactly what it says. It is not for checking if you have a fever but it was perfect for checking my refrigerator and freezer temperatures, oven temperature, and heat blankets used on a press. Also, doubles as a laser my dog loves to chase. But I am told you should not do that too much as it might make them crazy... my dog is already crazy but I still limit that time. Great item at a great price, very happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • Simple and effective
This is a review for the 1022D. You will get it in Blue and Grey even if another color is selected. Reasonably good accuracy for the price, within a degree or two. I had to order a second one and return the first since the lasers were misaligned with the housing; they pointed rather far to one side. Likely this wouldn't have affected the reading since I assume the IR detector is aligned with the lasers rather than the housing but it was far enough off to be rather annoying when used. Otherwise, for the price, this can't be beat. Easy to use, very intuitive. EMS can be adjusted. ... show more

  • Works well after replacing the battery
I thought something was wrong with the unit as I unwrap the battery supplied and inserted it as instructed to only find it not working. The LED would light up as long as I held the trigger but would not read. I thought to try another battery I had and it works great. I use it to know the temp of my Blackstone griddle. It works great, I can tell the temp varies slightly but not a big deal when I’m looking at temps up to 500 degrees. Be sure to check those batteries when you get one. ... show more
