The chairs are much darker than pictured. They are almost black. However, I still like them a lot. The style is beautiful. They seem comfortable and sturdy, but have mostly just been used by my kids and myself so far. The seats are easy to clean which is important with kids! As someone who has assembled my fair share of furniture, I thought the assembly was pretty quick and easy. They give you an Allen wrench to tighten the bolts. I used a vice grips to help hold the wrench in order to better tighten the bolts underneath the seat and this worked well. ... show more

The chairs were anticipated to replace like stools, and from the description it appeared they would do just that. However, the seat diameter as advertised is smaller, and the ease of assembly is not the easiest, because angles of the legs, and locations of the screw holes. A wider diameter screwhead would have eased assembly considerably. And an Allen wrench with a longer "short-leg bend" would have been great. Also, upon inspection of the chair pieces, it was discovered that two (2) places on the surfaces were marred, thus missing a painted surface. Also, the feet of the legs had no padding (which I overlooked when selecting the chairs). Therefore, there will be a challenge to drill sad legs and attach appropriate padded protections to eliminate possibilities of slipping or sliding on damp surfaces. As of yet, we are hesitant to assemble the second chair, and trying to determine if we might return them? ... show more

I think they are very attractive the wood is beautiful. The seat is a little firm am hoping it softens with use. I am allergic to plastics and foam rubber and have trouble finding things I can use. I really hope these will work for me.
