    • Long bread - no problem

This toaster makes me very happy. You should get it. Here's my recent "toaster journey." My previous (expensive) toaster stopped working sometimes. Unpredictably and inexplicably. And then it would work again a few days later. I had to cut the ends off my bread machine bread (which is the staple in my bread box since the pandemic) but I rationalized that I'd save a few calories by wasting a sixth of all the bread I baked. Sigh. I finally gave up on it and ordered another one from Amazon. Its slots were even shorter than the expensive one. Its touchscreen controls (which were situated right below the toast lever, meaning you couldn't see them unless you happened to be 40" tall or shorter) felt cheap. And the settings always went back to their own default, not my default, if the power was removed. It had a countdown timer (why???) that felt like just another thing that was going to fail prematurely. Decided to get this for these reasons: long slots, simple analog controls, elegant appearance, high ratings, and good price. I'm happy on all accounts! The darkness setting is intuitive and consistent. The long slots accommodate the longest slice of bread out of my bread machine (without my having to cut it in half... I mean, I've got eggs cooking! I ain't got time for all that!) This toaster also handles the little tiny slices of cinnamon raisin bread that the 93-year-old lady next door buys me sometimes because I fix her computer. "Did you know Windows 10 support is ending?" she'll ask, about once a week. "Yes, I've been told that." The long slots, of course, accommodate multiple slices of more traditionally-dimensioned breads. Just remember to keep things as close to the center as possible for optimum toastification. The only thing I can't see a need for is the little rack that can be erected with the push of a lever above the slots. I guess I'll have to buy a beignet, or a scone, or a cruller, or some other kind of specialized bakery product to try that feature out. I don't know. I've never had any of those products so I don't know if they're good candidates. Get this toaster. ... show more

Toaster looks nice, fits well into the space. Does a great job of toasting. The thing is though, it does too good of a job. Even on the very lowest setting it sometimes toasts too much, especially with any kind of slim-sliced bread. They need to dial down the temperature another notch to get that fifth star. I should have looked at the dimensions before I bought this toaster, but I didn't, and this ended up being one of the biggest toasters I've ever bought. It was simply too long and too big overall for my limited kitchen space. Other than than the size issue, it emits so much heat from the top when in use, that it would make it difficult to use under the cabinet without worrying about damage from the heat, and as a result would have to be pulled out with every use. Definitely not convenient to have to worry about using it. Another thing I didn't like is that it's not fingerprint resistant. I got the plain steel model without the black section. Just by taking it out from the box and putting it on the counter, it left every single fingerprint on the side that couldn't be easily wiped off. Otherwise, based on the heat during testing, I can attest that this will definitely toast your bread. It felt like oven. It has multiple functions to include frozen bread option. It looks nice if you have space for it, removable crumb tray, and the cord storage area on the bottom. Simple to use and plenty of space for larger slices or bagels.     • Decent for the price, but two cons to note…

I've had this toaster for about six months now. It still works as well as it did on day one. The pros are the extra-long slots that can fit slices from wide loaves and the pull-out crumb tray that collects anything that falls to the bottom. The cons are that it takes longer than I'm used to to get a good browning (even on the highest setting), and it doesn't toast both sides of the bread evenly, so you have to pull it out and flip it if you want it to be even. With that said, if you're looking for a long-slice toaster on a budget, this isn't a bad choice. Other models I looked at were double, if not triple, the price. Having to flip your bread around and wait a couple of minutes more may be worth the savings. ... show more
