After about 20 years, our big-brand toaster broker. Most of the big-brand models cost over $100, and many over $200. That felt ridiculous for a device that basically just heats up coils. My spouse and I decided to try the Bella and it's great. At the time of this review, it cost $35. We got the 4 slice Oatmeal colored one. Looks great in our kitchen and pretty much works just like our old one. A few notes for those that are interested: - Has no bell to indicate it's done. That didn't bother us - especially if the other person is sleeping. - No digital display. The temp control is an old school knob that articulates very nicely. It took us a moment to get used to this because from a distance with our old toaster, we could see the temp setting and make corrections if we forgot to set it how we like it. Easy adjustment for us to make. - It has a removable crumb tray. This is important to us because we beat our toasters up by putting all kinds of foods into it which sends crumbles to the bottom all the time. - It doesn't have a "lift to look" feature...we kind of miss that but it's an easy adjustment for us to make. - Looks great - we do like having a little style / design in our kitchen. It looks like an up-scale product. - Very light-weight. We move it each time to a storage area (i.e. don't let it sit on the counter all the time). I love it! It has a clean and elegant look. The slim design is perfect for our small space. It functions smoothly and is very pleasant to use. I want to keep toasting things haha! It toasts well (not perfectly even, but idc so much about that), and fits two pieces of toast or waffles side by side (I haven't tried bagels yet). Great value for the cost. I really like this toaster — the slim design is honestly one of its best features. It doesn’t take up much counter space at all, which is perfect if you have a smaller kitchen or just want a cleaner setup. Performance-wise, it does exactly what you’d want. The 6 shade settings actually make a noticeable difference, so you can get your toast just how you like it. It toasts evenly on both sides, and I haven’t had any issues with uneven browning or needing to run it twice. The reheat function is also a nice bonus and works well for warming things back up without over-toasting them. It feels solid overall and not cheap, and the controls are simple and easy to use. If I had to point out one small thing, it’s that like most slim toasters, it’s better suited for standard bread slices rather than really thick artisan bread — but that’s expected with this style. When I got it I wondered if the material was cheap - but it turned out to be pretty reliable. Looks great on the counter, has a convenient bread crumb latch that slides out and does not require you to tilt the toaster. The heat might be a bit strong - so better to get the settings right on the first toast rather than go back again. Love the sleek design as it saves space on the counter.
