All I ask of a toaster is this: lower my bread into the slot, heat it until it's the golden color I chose, then send it back up. Don't make me pop it up and down multiple times to see if it's burning, or not cooking, don't make me flip it around to toast the other side. And could you please do the same thing the next day? This toaster actually does its job. It's FABULOUS. 2 people in the house. Both like a different shade of toast. We don't use big or fat bread - just basic, artisan sized grain bread. This toaster has some perfect features to accommodate for most anything - my favorites: 1. Memory feature: his and hers for us. 2. Quick View button: is my toast burning or not cooking? One touch of the button for a peek without resetting the timer. 3. +30 second button: okay, wish my toast was a tiny bit browner, but I don't want to burn it - this is your go-to feature. On top of that, mechanical lower and raising of the bread - quiet and zen-like - not a fan of slamming the levers. And did I say it actually toasts my bread on both sides!!! Thank you. (My toast is more golden that it looks in the photo's - it's a tan/brown color bread). Let me also say this: it's a crapshoot whether the heating coil cards on any toaster come out of the factory working like they should. They all use the same parts made at the same place using the same lower quality components than what we had in our life before. If you can find a toaster that does its job, looks like you want and fits your budget - it's a good thing. No, it's doesn't make the buzzing sound some mentioned in reviews. If you use super thick, super long bread, this isn't for you - find a toaster that's made for that. (Don't try jamming oversized bread in - yes, you will ruin the mechanical raise/lower feature). The cord length is just right. If you're toasting 1 slice - use the 1 Slice button - it's made to adjust the heat for just one slice (doesn't matter which side). It actually comes with a paper instruction guide - read it. This was our third and final attempt at finding a replacement toaster. For us it's perfect. PS - all of my family and friends that have a Duolit happen to have them all on the blink right now :-) Even the "premier" of toasters fail. ... show more

We love this toaster. It cooks perfectly every time. It is versatile and easy to use. The soft lowering and lifting is elegant, and there is no need to push a lever downward. It is very good-looking and solid. It's nice having a good "old-fashioned" metal toaster. The chime that sounds when cooking is complete is a pleasant tone that can be heard well across the room. The only thing we don't like is that the crumb trays are accessed from the back of the toaster, so the unit has to be moved away from the wall and turned around, but it is a small issue that hasn't affected our enjoyment of this appliance. ... show more

Wow! This is a true toaster. This is a “ set it & forget it toaster “. So the aesthetics is absolutely beautiful. My old toaster has seen better days, it was literally burning my toast at a setting number 2. This one is amazing, first you place your toast select what type of bread your toasting, the darkness, lightly press the little lever down and BAM 😃 it lowers your toast down into the chamber very slowly and then…. Just walk away. The toast pops up when it reaches your desired doneness. It lets you know it’s ready by a beep. The stainless steel is absolutely gorgeous, looks very expensive ( which honestly it was a bit on the pricey side ) but it looks like it’s going to last a looooong time. At first glance it looks very heavy but it’s not. I’m a kitchen anything freak 😂. It’s a very sturdy beautiful accurate toaster. I’m very very happy with my purchase. Apologies for the length of this review, but... We, a Cuisinart household, started this review with a sense of anticipation. After our trusty old Cuisinart toaster finally gave up, we were eager to try out the new 4-Slice Motorized Toaster-CPT-540. The top controls were a promising feature we were excited about. That's where the excitement ended. We went through the warranty process after a few weeks because of all the burnt bagels on BOTH sides. On the old toaster, the bagel setting was great because it only toasted the cut side of the bagel, which we found to be the perfect balance of crispiness and softness. We used a setting of four and only toasted one side. The bagels turned out great. With the new toaster, we used caution and a level two setting. It burnt BOTH sides AGAIN, and I had to throw the bagels away. We tried a setting on one and got the SAME result. We returned it. Now, we find ourselves in a situation we never expected—having to use our LG oven to toast our bagels. Even our wheat toast, when set at four, comes out burnt. We've had to adjust to a setting of two for our toast, which is not what we signed up for when we bought this toaster. Our disappointment with the drop in Cuisinart's quality is profound. This experience has not only left us with burnt bagels and toast but also led us to seriously reconsider our loyalty to this brand. It's a pity, they used to be so reliable. I had your previous motorized four slice motorized toaster, and the bagel setting only toasted the one cut side of the bagel. This one toasts both sides when a bagel has been selected. ... show more
