As a modeler and miniature painter this is my go to liquid resin. It’s very low odor and easy water clean up. I have used a regular liquid resin and the smell was unbearable. Don’t get me wrong this does have an odor. But it is low odor and won’t fill your whole house with a chemical smell. I don’t have a dedicated hobby room so I get my 3-D printer out and print what I want to print and then put everything up. So usually I’m running my printer on my dining room table. The older doesn’t fill the whole house. Just for informational purposes my resin 3-D printer is a Creality LD 002H. It regularly goes on sale a little cheaper here. You just have to keep watching for the price drop. Usually when I catch it a little cheaper. I’ll buy two bottles at a time. I go through a bottle every four months that doesn’t seem like a lot but I paint everything I print before I buy another bottle so I’ve been using this resin for probably a little over a year. That also tells you that it has a decent shelf life after opening. I’ve seen no deterioration in my prints from the first print out of the bottle to the last. Just make sure you keep your lid tight when you store it. But don’t tighten it too tight because the top cap sometimes will crack. Pros… Very reasonable price. Low odor. Water clean up. Comes in a variety of colors. Has a good shelf life after opening. Cons… None really. The only trouble I have had is on a few of my bottles if you tighten the cap to tight it cracks at the very top of the cap. So when you go to shake the bottled up it will leak out if it is cracked. That’s not really the product tho. That’s the packaging. Overall, if you’re into 3-D printing and using a liquid resin, this is a good reliable resin. ... show more

    • So much easier to deal with

I am new to resin printing. I have had a FDM printer for a long time now. I was concerned for a long time about dealing with the resin. The cost of having to have a lot of alcohol on hand, the odor, and keeping everything clean was concerning to me. Decided to try the washable resin to see how it did. I was initially concerned that this would be inferior to regular resin and although easier to deal with, would create worse prints or be more fragile than regular resin. I am glad to say my fears have been unfounded. The prints so far have come out fantastic and with great detail. I have had a few issues, but that was due to support layout (learned my lesson about using the autosupport function in my slicer, it isn't close to enough supports). The cleanup has been a breeze with just water. I also got a small ultrasonic cleaner. Works so great with just plain water. I found that a 3 step cleaning process gets all the lose resin off. I use a pickle bin first to rinse it right from the printer to get the heavy stuff off. I swish it in basket for 10 seconds or so. I then remove the supports and put in the ultrasonic cleaner and run that for 4 minutes. I change the water and run again for another 4 minutes. After that I let air dry and then cure when fully dry. That process took some trial and error. My first prints I just washed in the pickle jar and was getting a heavy white powdery stuff on the print. Did some googling and determined I wasn't cleaning enough. I then used the ultrasonic and it got better but not perfect. That is when I did the second wash with clean water and then fully air dried the pieces before curing and now I get perfect prints with no powdery stuff on the outside. I also don't have to do a lot of manual scrubbing that I don't have time for. I figure the cost of the ultrasonic cleaner is definitely offset by the fact that I don't need any isopropyl alcohol at all. Which is good because that stuff stinks up my shop when I use it. Speaking of odors, the resin does have a slight odor. You can smell it and it has a distinct odor, but I don't think it is strong at all and so far has not been a problem which is good because I can be sensitive to odors. With the lid closed on my printer and the bottle closed, I don't smell anything. Only when pouring new stuff in the vat do I smell something and then it quickly dissipates. ... show more

I don't like this as much as the 8k upgraded resin in Space Grey. The color of this stuff is very light and I'm not convinced the detail is as good as the 8k. Don't get me wrong, this isn't bad, it's just not as good as the 8k. I think it would be fine for game minis, but for large figurines and scale models, I'd get the more expensive resin. That said, it behaves well and post processes fine using water and Simple Green. I find no need for Isopropyl with this or the 8k stuff. Using with a Saturn 3 Ultra 12k printer. ... show more

    • Good for large pieces, too brittle for small

Tested out the water washable gray. OK, printed out the Elegoo rook that comes as a test piece .. and it was perfect. A solid print (two of them actually). Solid feel to the print. Easy to clean with water and the provided brush .. the details stunning, especially the fine text on the top of the rook. the inside helix and stairs look phenomenal. Printed out smaller pieces like battletech mechs, or fantasy dwarves with battle ax and chains .. and they all printed fantastically .. the details are amazing .. except small pieces are amazingly brittle.. the antennae snapped just sitting in the sun for the short cure time. Thought that odd .. but then swords or battle axes, or the ball and chain - well they would break with just the smallest pressure. I can't even imagin brush painting these without something breaking. So for larger more solid pieces, this has been fantastic - just amazing .. for smaller pieces, you're going to want something with a wee more give - so that they don't break. With COVID and the lack of IPA .. water washable is good to have on hand. ... show more

I have zero complaints with this black resin. It dependably prints when all other factors are controlled correctly (temperature, supports etc). It looks great as well with a wonderful satin/matte sheen that tends to shimmer at the right angle under the right light. Low odor as well.
