  • Shiny, check. Silky, check. Smooth, check. Awesome, check.
I know printing the T-Rex skull has been done to death, but of course that's the first thing I printed with this filament because just look at this beauty! This filament works best with larger prints just due to getting more of the color transition effect. I did a T-Rex skull at 25% and it showed mostly the same color. Also, larger prints come out far smoother than smaller prints, even when the larger prints have a lot of detail. Smaller prints, like the 25% T-Rex skull, started to have issues with sagging in places like the teeth and bridge of the snout. But the smoothness in those larger prints is really great and I don't see the layers as much as I might with other filaments. The shiny, silkiness of the filament is fantastic and I'd love to get this filament in some of the colors represented in the color transitions, like a darker blue, a teal, and that purpley mauve color. I have the copper filament from the same line, but this color transition filament is my favorite of all. ... show more

  • Rainbow gradient silk (dark)
This review is for the rainbow gradient silk pla. This rainbow is a bit different than others. It tends to run darker colors and more gold tones. Basically no red, green, or pinks. Two of the gold tones print very similar even though they look very different on the spool. This makes it come out as long stretches of gold (see the deep sea diver model pic). If you like gold, like I do, this isn't really an issue. You can expect most of your prints to include at least some gold coloring. This spool looks like it has so many colors but really you just get 3 main colors and then very gradual transitions that look smooth.:: A rich sapphire blue, a burgundy-ish copper, and gold. Of which there are multiple slightly different gold tones varying from yellow, orange, a coffee, and copper ish. The sool colors can be deceiving. It's surprising seeing what looks like a light eggplant color filament print as a distinct gold color. But you will see this happening with these colors. I'm not sure why the printed colors change so much from the way the color looks on the roll. But it does. I really like the colors but be aware you will find a lot of gold in the mix compared to the blue and purple. And that it will be tricky to predict what the filament will look like when printed. As for quality. No complaints. Printed fine. Wound neatly. I typically bump the nozzle and bed temp for silk. these were all printed at 205c and 70c bed. I sometimes get bed adhesion problems if I use 60c. So if you have such issues, try bumping the bed temp. And make sure bed is clean. ... show more

  • Great filament... but not perfect
Prints great on my stock Ender 3 Pro. I picked up the “silk rainbow” and have been having a lot of fun printing with it. You can get some truly awesome color combos. Layer adhesion isn’t the best but I’m not entirely sure that’s the filaments fault. Sticks great to my glass bed. Seems kind of brittle for PLA. Temperature Bed at 50 degrees .4mm Nozzle at 205 .6mm Nozzle at 212 Those settings worked best for me. Any higher to try and get better layer adhesion made things way too stringy. ... show more

  • Great and affordable filament
I purchased this because I have wanted to try a rainbow filament for a while, but I could not find a color mixture that I liked. This filament has a perfect finish with a great shine and prints very easily. Printing at 200 with a hardened steel nozzle and 60 on the glass print bed on my Ender 3 Pro. The only thing I wish was different is how quickly the color changes. It seems that anything under 30 to 50 grams does not have a color change. I am going to print a larger 100-200 gram print to see the results better next. Overall I am happy with it! ... show more

  • Expect a problem or two
MY EARLIER REVIEW: Fantastic prints. However, has a bit of problems with quality control, Occasional spots are over-sized (scrape dust at nozzle entrance and a spool I had had kinks or something that caused filament breaks during printing. Again though, such beauty is worth the pain. THE PRESENT: The quality problems appear to be under control. This is one of the less expensive "rainbow" filaments. Prints well and looks great. It is a darker colored rainbow. Only thing I can suggest improving is for more colors to be added., ( the first image is from my first review, the second one is a current print). ... show more

  • Colorful and easy to use
This pla is great. It's beautiful and easy to use. It has more colors than those listed in the title. My filament came in a vacuum-sealed package. I didn't even have to change my printer settings and still got amazing results. If your prints are ripping apart, you should increase the perimeter. It is known that silk pla is not as strong as regular pla. If your model needs supports, you should be aware that this play makes them very strong so it's not as easy to remove compared to other brands. ... show more
