And it has different colors and settings to choose from, also you can set the timer for how many hours you want it to stay on! I bought it to use for the winter to help keep my house warm, although I can’t say how well it will work cause I haven’t used it yet, but I feel sure it’ll keep my living room and kitchen warm, I did try it out and it does put out a decent amount of heat, I love how it looks and it’s a very nice size. I am totally impressed by this heater. Better quality, looks and operation than I was prepared for. The size was perfect for where I wanted to place it, not too big, not too small. It throws out enough heat for a smaller confined area, like a bedroom as a primary heat source. If it's in a larger open area like I have it in it's best used as a secondary heat provider. It definitely helps take the chill out and adds a soothing warm comfort. All metal construction, durable, reasonably priced and great looks that serves a purpose is what I was looking for and this was it. Some complain about the top getting hot, not so in my book; it gets warm only towards the center of the top but not even warm to hurt a toddler if touched, I know this for a fact.     • Add your own sound and you have a realistic multihued fire

The media could not be loaded. There's a lot to love about this electric fireplace. It's a light enough weight that you can easily move it around but has a quality look and feel instead of the usual cheap plastic. The legs are metal and easy to attach with the included screws--you just need your own Phillips head screwdriver. You can change the flame speed and color (the highest speed is the most realistic) and when desired it puts out a nice amount of heat from the top of the fireplace, where it's less apt to damage the LED flame electronics. I also really like the fact that the fireplace will briefly light up a red number at the back of the fireplace to show you the flame brightness, speed or color setting. It hits that sweet spot of being useful but unobtrusive. I also like the option of manual buttons, which allow more direct control of the log color separate from overall brightness, flame color and speed. Its greatest weakness is the remote. It's finicky. Really finicky. I often have to wave the remote around in an attempt to get the fireplace to sense my button presses, and it can take five or six attempts to get the fireplace to respond. The only other down side I've noted is easily remedied. The fireplace has no sound. Fortunately, there are apps that you can install on your cell phone that will seamlessly add that extra dimension to your fireplace. In the video I recorded showing some of the speed and color options, you'll note crackling sounds part way through the recording. THIS ISN'T FROM THE FIREPLACE. It's an example of what the fireplace is like when you add cell phone audio from the OnSwitch app in fireplace scene mode, which not only gives a realistic crackling sound but also controls Hue lighting. I find using that app for sound with my favorite color settings and the flames on the highest speed makes me feel as if I have a real fire without the heat (unless so desired) or mess. Some have asked about using this on a covered screen porch. I've done that, but only with a really heavy-duty, short, outdoor power cord when the humidity isn't crazy high. The manual says indoor only, and I suspect that high humidity could damage the electronics and shorten its life expectancy. Given how much I like the fireplace, I decided to move it back indoors. The instructions say to keep it 2 feet from a rear wall, but in the video, I have it in front of my existing fireplace with the doors open, where it has 2 feet of clearance from the back of the firebox. I can't yet speak to the fireplace's longevity, but I'm extremely happy with it so far and would probably buy it again if it lasts the year. ... show more

I was hesitant to purchase a space heater like this after reading the reviews, however, I took a chance. I bought this for my wife's home office. We live in a house that was built in 1876 and has no insulation in the walls. We live in north-central USA where temps are often below zero. Her office faces the south and measures approximately 14 feet x 17 feet. Many of the reviews state that the item will not heat a room. She found this to be true at first. Then she noticed a major design flaw - the intake for this heater is on the back when it should be on the bottom to draw up the cold air from the floor. Therefore, to get the optimal use - it must be placed in a position where there is constant airflow into the back of the unit. Placing it neatly next to the wall will prevent this unit to properly heat the room. She placed it at the entrance to her office where the circulating air that enters is cold. You have to READ the instruction manual to fully understand how this unit works. Unlike space heaters from the past where you just flip the dial to the setting, this one has lots of settings. Set on the appropriate max setting, in four hours at 90 degrees (the home furnace setting at 70 degrees - her office is 68 degrees) it will move the temperature up to 75 degrees. Please note, on occasion this unit will go into cool down mode. This helps prevent it from overheating. Her only other complaint is that the fan is loud, yet she is sensitive to unwanted noise. In the end she has enjoyed this unit and it's sleek classic look. She is able to comfortably work in her office without the use of several layers of clothes and blankets. Further more, this unit keeps the entire upstairs (three bedroom and a bathroom) warmer than it normally is. We are thinking about purchasing another for the lower level. However, we are waiting to see our electric bill first. I hope this helps you in making your decision... ... show more
