  • the "moppy schlingy thing" is honestly worth the buy
Size: T30S COMBO
I bought this a couple weeks or so before xmas and it was swiftly delivered the day after xmas. Having gotten walloped by a flu, I've been responsibly huddled in my bed while responsibly feeling sorry for myself, and have been respectfully listening to my Asian girlfriend clean my house for me. She has an Asian woman's sense of cleanliness, amped up with an OCD toward cleanliness and turbo charged with a cosmic abhorrence toward cat hair. She's thorough. Having mostly conquered the pestilence within, I assembled "that moppy schlingy thing" (say that like an Asian woman), let it charge, downloaded the app, let it map the downstairs, and then I put it into its first clean/mop cycle. What got dumped into the dirty water tank (translation: what an OCD Asian cutness didn't clean off the floor) was gross. It was humbling (not for me, I'm a guy). Honestly, this little robot is thorough, it's quiet and it's freakishly good. The app seems pretty intuitive to use, and it allowed me to actually name the floor cleaner. (My buddy Greg said that "House Slave" is extremely insensitive, so I've named it Greg instead.) Looking at the map of my house what Greg cleans, I can see how accurate the map was - dining room, kitchen, The Dojo (aka powder room), main room, etc etc are all there, and you can watch the thing clean real-time on the app. Assembling and initially setup of Greg and the system was pretty easy - I really think it helps to have the app downloaded first. Really, all I did was install the robot's tray and then plug it in, and then put the cleaner into its nook to charge. The rest was the initial robot setup (date, time, region, cleaning preferences, etc). Actual Greg suggested that I add denture cleaner (those fizzy tablets that I buy my dad but go unused apparently) to cut down on the odor from the dirty water tank. As I've gone through two full cleaning cycles, I've yet to experience this, so I might use the tablets instead in my bath tub if I start to feel crappy again. Bottom line - well worth the buy so far. My floors, a combo of hardwood and carpets have never looked so good. I've got a persian rug that was getting kind of dusty (Asian girlfriend calls it gross and in need of the dump), but I think all it needed was a good vacuuming or two. I think a daily dose of Greg will do the trick, honestly. Setup was easy, the app is intuitive and the cleaning robots are thorough and quiet. I forgot quiet. No one has aver cleaned my house and been that quiet. ... show more

  • I love it
Size: T50 Max
This thing is perfect. Definitely, hands down, one of the best purchases I have ever made. It's mapping is excellent. Hardly ever gets stuck. Vacuum works superb and gets everything up. The noise level can be adjusted. Last but certainly not least it does an outstanding job at mopping. I have tried out most of the competition brands and this one is definitely better ... show more

  • MUCH better than I thought with a few minor issues.
Size: Deebot T8
Tried to do research on vacuum/mop robots but they're mostly tied in categories. So I picked my criteria of good mapping, good obstacle management, and good mopping. That narrowed it down to just two for me and I just picked the T8. I chose not to get the T8 AIVI with the camera as I don't care to have a photographic map of my house available. It's bad enough there's a digital map but if you want mapping vs random, you have to allow it. So this little machine completely exceeded my expectations. First with the mapping. It mapped our whole 3000 foot house very precisely (less one room we blocked off) and managed to shockingly vacuum the entire house on one charge the first time. Our house is all hardwood tile with rugs. It crawls right onto the rugs, turns up the vacuum, and then back down to the hard floor and turns down the vacuum. The second time it ran out of juice before it was finished and I had to carry it back. Since then there was a firmware upgrade and it usually finishes the whole house and gets back to it's charging station on one charge. Once it wasn't quite done and it announced it was heading back to charge. Impressive. Mopping was trial and error. It remapped the house for mopping, carefully avoiding any rugs. The problem is some of the rugs don't leave enough hard floor for the robot to get through so it avoids those areas. I flipped up the corners of the rugs to give it room to pass and it works fine . Remember, it's not really "mopping", it's dragging a wet pad along the floor. The pad coverage was OK, but I decided to run up the water to max and it's much better. Pad wet trail behind the T8 is still about 75% the width of the pad. I keep an eye on it, and when the water tank gets low, I pause the robot, refill the tank, clean the pad, and let it keep going. This vastly improved performance. I haven't used the app to tell it to re-do specific areas yet, but I will experiment with that in the future. I may consider purchasing the shaker mop, but for the time being, I vacuum one day, mop the next, then one day off, so the floors are actually staying pretty clean. The T8 works its away around all our chair legs very nicely, and it only got stuck once, behind a curtain. I'm not sure why it didn't avoid the curtain, but this is very good performance in my opinion. We have a small dog and I read that if your dog has an pooping accident, robots won't stop and go around, instead smearing the accident as it goes. So we ran a test with a small Baby Ruth bar (hat's off to Caddyshack) and the T8 ran into it and kept going. Bad news if your "accident" is real. Perhaps the AIVI version with the camera and AI would recognize it and go around, but I just don't want a camera. All in all I'm pretty impressed. I vacuumed the house before we let it run loose the first time and the bin still filled completely up (the T8 runs under our beds!). When we ran it the second day it filled up again so I assume it got so full the first day it couldn't take any more debris. Now I pause and check it after an hour. It vacuums as it mops too and it's still picking up residual dust and hair. I won't be getting the tower that cleans the bin. I think it's too tall and I'm placing the T8 under a shelving unit to keep it out of the way when it's not in use. If I feel the mopping isn't working well with the high water setting and moping every third day, I'll consider the shaker. But I gotta say, I'm amazed at how well this worked out. ... show more
