This doorbell is so well made. I'm so impressed. I've had Ring, I've had Logitech Circleview (still do) and this trumps them all. I use an Ecobee thermostat, and I have Apple HomePods and other outdoor cameras that work with Apple HomeKit. This is the reason I went with Ecobee. I was not expecting after the fact they would come out with a doorbell camera. When someone rings the doorbell, it rings through all my HomePods through out the house and my thermostat. This also works well with Amazon Alexa. You can use any Alexa as your doorbell speakers as well. Also, my residence faces the sunset so I needed a doorbell that wouldn't overheat. The Logitech Circle View Camera, which works with HomeKit, overheats. This one does not. This one also has distance settings as to how far from your house you want it to notify you. I've tested it and it goes out more than the footage it says. For me I have it set to about 20 feet because of how my house is set up. This camera also has great night vision, has lots of in app automations you can set in the Ecobee app, but I use HomeKit to set those. Also when someone rings it shows up on my Apple TV and my thermostat displays the video as well. I can't say enough good things about this doorbell. It actually stays connected to my Wi-Fi. It doesn't go offline when it's in the sun or too hot. It detects motion and reliably notifies me. Absolutely amazing compared to the last video doorbell that I had. Great picture quality.

Style: Smart Doorbell Video Camera
I’m coming from having a ring doorbell (2 of them) and I really enjoyed the ring camera. I purchased the Ecobee doorbell because it integrates with Apple HomeKit and honestly I just wanted to try something new. The installation was awesome, so easy. The App walks you through the entire installation and I was super impressed. Best of all, it comes with a doorbell chime adapter, unlike the Ring (at least when I bought my Ring doorbell). The entire process took 45 min. Keep in mind you’ll likely need a power drill (to drill very small holes in wood), drill bit, and screwdriver. If you have masonry or other material you’ll need different tools, but this is a 101 level project and I’m confident anyone can complete with the solid instructions from the app, which is step-by-step. The quality of the product itself is great, and feels premium. Yes, it’s bigger than my Ring Pro but barely. The doorbell button is obvious and perfectly placed. The camera quality is great and the HomeKit integration is awesome and fast. I have an embarrassing amount of items in HomeKit and this was super simple to add. The camera loads fast and is high quality. My reasoning for 4 stars is with the software and motion/activity notifications. It’s frustratingly difficult to receive simple notifications when someone walks in front of the camera. I am no Einstein, but I shouldn’t have to search google to figure this step out. So far, I’ve been unable to figure this out to my satisfaction and this is done so well on Ring that this seems like a huge miss by Ecobee. It should be as simple as one button to turn these notifications on, no disarming or unarming. They get really close here but seems like they overthought this OR (more likely) I’m just missing the obvious. If their programmers are listening, you have a real winner on your hands if you just make motion alerts simpler and more obvious, none of this disarm/arm/Smart Security/confusing stuff. I will gladly give this 5 stars if either I can figure this out or they upstate the software. UPDATE: I figured out the notifications eventually but they were inconsistent and not reliable. I went back to my Ring Doorbell Pro 2 and it’s much better. This is all my opinion and I think in time the Ecobee will be great. ... show more

    • Worked for 6 months, then quit.
Style: Smart Doorbell Video Camera
The media could not be loaded. Bottom line up front, the unit works great, but is hampered by the companies need to try to cash grab with their subscription to their “security”, as well as potential quality control issues and longevity issues. The fact that this doesn’t integrate with HomeKit secure video is an automatic 2 star max. Installed Christmas Day and the doorbell worked great for almost 6 months. Aside from the lack of HomeKit Secure Video functionality the doorbell worked great, until it didn’t. One day, I noticed I couldn’t connect to it through the app. So when I got home I took a look and it had a blue ring circling the doorbell. Followed the support steps to reset it and the reset button doesn’t do anything, at all. So I removed power and rebooted the doorbell. Same issue. So I contact support, which is complicated by being outsourced and language barriers, even through the chat. They ask me to bypass the chime adapter, verify the wiring, and transformer voltage. After that’s complete it’s after support hours so I have to contact them again during normal hours. The next support person has me repeat a lot of the same steps, requests more pictures of the equipment and wiring, as well as the transformer. Finally, after 3 days of contacting support, and 3 different support people they decide I need a replacement. To me, if a major part of the unit, the reset button, is non functional, that would indicate that something is wrong with the unit. We’ll see how the replacement does when it gets here. ... show more
