January amendment: The 2-sided heater really didn't work for us (see comments below), but early in January I received an email from East Oak Customer Service offering us a choice of 2 other heaters- at no cost. This was after we had returned it and been refunded our original payment. I told them that and the offer was still good. Mind blown! They sent us the 1500W Tower Heater but the glass was cracked. I let them know and today, 1/23, we received a perfect heater that is well on the way to heating our enclosed patio. Fantastic! I am grateful for their help and genuine consideration. I will recommend this company but not the 2-sided heater. Our new heater seems great! It's been a long road, but we got to the end of it all nice'n'warm :) December comments: We still have some weeks to decide to keep or return this 2-sided heater, but we are not satisfied so far. It is too warm in our smallish living room and not warm enough outside. Only my knees and hands felt the warmth when sitting within 2 ft of the heater on our patio. We removed the (safety!) glass to see if we could better feel the heat, and it really wasn't enough of an improvement to justify the brightness and exposure to the very hot tungsten screen. Many people have made the same complaints, but I really hoped we'd agree with the 5 Star reviewers. Oh well. Just wondering if the 1500 w are divided between the 2 sides- in which case a 1-sided heater would radiate more heat?? It is attractive, but I pick Function over Form. Also, while it is weather-proof, we will never leave a heater outside at night (uncovered patio), so we may be better off with a less expensive space heater. This one is quiet because it has no fan. So the best thing I can say about this heater is that it is pretty and quiet? I want that in a houseplant, but this should put out heat. **** We have given the heater every chance to win us over, but it was not to be; we've returned it.     • Quit working after 2 hours, customer service poor

I bought this as an additional heat source. It was a gift for my wife. I assembled and tested the unit on 12/27/22 and tested the unit manually for about 2 hours. The next day,I tried to turn the unit on, it is completely dead, no LED, nothing. Checked and verified the power outlet, no issues from the wall socket. UI reported this issue to East Oak on 12/28/22. The message assured me I would here back within 24 hours. I did receive an email from East Oak the next day asking me a couple of questions (was I using the remote and what color was the LED lights) I responded right away saying the unit was completely dead and I was not using the remote. I have heard nothing for the last 6 days. When I called the service number, I received a message saying the mailbox was full. I have attempted to let East oak correct this issue w/o going back through Amazon, but it looks like I will have no option but to return the product through Amazon. Horrible customer service, avoid this company at all costs! I will update if something changes. Update: Company service representative contacted me after a number of days. After that contact, a new heater was sent out to be at no charge. Would have preferred to have it handled that way from the start, but I am willing to chalk this up to the holiday time of year. The replacement unit is functioning fine on day #2. One other note. I have another IR heating unit from a different mfg, and I can say that the amount of light coming off the East Oak lamp is much lower than the other unit.     • Good heat, Bad pole assembly instructions

Like other customer reviews, I found it frustrating spending time trying to figure out which parts go where for pole mount assembly. The photos posted by D. Glass were very helpful. The rotation problem is reduced when you tighten down the screws in the pole bracket. Of course, you then have to loosen the upper screw in order to raise or lower the pole height. The entire pole bracket and its parts would be unnecessary had the manufacturer put holes in the upper part of the receiving pole. Also, you will need a quad screw driver for the lower screw; only a hex screw driver is included. Oh, and you will need a second hex driver to hold one end of the screw in place while tightening down the other end of the screw at the top of the heater that keeps it from flopping downward. ... show more

I was debating between the under table unit, table side or whether to go a different way with a ceiling mounted unit for our 3 sided 10x20 screened in porch. I’m glad I went with the larger 1500w table side model. As others have said, you have to be close. I put the unit between our chairs and it allows us to sit comfortably outside into the 40’s (if dressed warmly). The unit is about 2 feet away. I can’t imagine how you could feel anything from a ceiling unit unless you had a very low ceiling! The double sided design is perfect for a couple. I took 1 star off because the remote really is almost useless, but I only use the max setting anyway. We like to sit outside and this will extend our porch usability time as we live in Georgia with relatively mild winters. I also like the fact that it is portable so we can move it to use at the table while eating. On our deck we use a propane fire pit, but for a porch with a roof, this seems safer. It is quite large, but it works great as long as you don’t expect it to heat an entire outdoor room. ... show more

    • Heater Angle of degrees

I wish the heater Angle of degrees could be locked in place on the stand @ 90 Deg . The heater itself works great but the heater angle is pointing to the floor @ 40 Deg. & even at the tallest setting & it is not what is shown in the pictures with the heater at a 90 degrees to the stand & it can not be set. Note: The stand is just OK & at the tallest stand setting the power cord is just long enough to plug the heater in if the plug is right next to the heater. Overall i like this Heater but not so happy with the Mounting Angle of 40 Deg on the stand height & for the lower height setting the angle pointing to the floor will heat up the dog laying in front of it. Update: After going on line & printing the manuals there is a way to set the heater angles so I'm happy with this product. I wish thay would put all the assembly instructions in the box. ... show more
