This is a great looking patio heater. It does require assembly. The instructions say it will take about an hour. When I opened the box the blister pack that had all the nuts and bolts seperated had broken so many of the parts were mixed together in the platic bag that held the Blister Pack. So.... one hour wasn't going to happen. Over all the instructions were fairly easy to follow. Some of the steps were a little akward to to do with one person but I managed. The assembly instructions were mostly pictures and there was an error in the instructions. The braces to attach this to a deck or floor were shown upside down in manual. They should be turned so that the "ear" is closer to the floor so that the provided screws can anchor it. Over all this wasn't bad it just took time sorting the bolts. Once finished I didn't have any problems lighting the heater. I had to let the propane run for about a minute to get the propane up to the burner. The built in ignitor worked on the first try and and we were off. It took a couple of minutes for things to warm up and get to generating heat. Once everything was going it worked great and was comparable to other heaters of this type. I wouldn't say it was any better or any worse, just about the same. The only complaint I have is the reflector on top is a little thin or maybe flimsy is the word. Great heater over all. If the blister pack hadn't been broken assembly would have been fairly quick. it does a good job heating but should only be used outdoors. ... show more

This looks like a good purchase so far. The components and build all seem to be fairly high quality. There's a good bit of assembly required - expect to spend 20 minutes or more on this - but the assembly is all very straightforward, and the manual is clear and well-written. All necessary parts are supplied, with a few extras as well. The only hitch we ran into while assembling was that the screws which hold the two pieces of the tower together didn't quite screw in tight. Turns out that the holes weren't properly/completely threaded; fortunately I was able to take a 10-24 tap and complete the threads. The heater is very attractive, and starts up and warms up very quickly. The screen surrounding the burn actually gets red hot (as intended), so you get some radiant heat, augmented by the large reflector on top. Heat level is continuously adjustable from low to high. The tank (not included) is hidden away very neatly in the base. The unit can be tipped onto its wheels and rolled very easily, but mounting tabs are also included if you want to screw it down to a deck or patio. Although this was manufactured in China, it's worthwhile to note that the manual is VERY well written and complete, and contains US phone numbers and email addresses for support. This is a good purchase to extend your patio or deck use a bit further into the shoulder seasons. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This is a fairly mature product that has been around for years. I have one that is fairly old and is showing its age cosmetically. This one claims to have better quality materials. The old one is still fully functional. The assembly instructions and user manual is printed on high quality material with clear pictures and instructions. It was heavier than I expected after seeing my FedEx deliver lady deliver the box that was bigger than her. When I tried to pickup the box, it was obvious she was a LOT stronger than me. It does have wheels and that does make it easy to handle the completed product. I tested it the other night outside. The temperature was around 45 F (see picture) with no wind. I was very comfortable wearing a T shirt and an unzipped hoody on the lowest heat setting. On the highest setting, it felt better if I backed away more. The burner was easy to start and ignited on the first click/try several times. While I like the product, I do have a few dislikes. All the fasteners use hex head bolts except for the screws used in the middle of the center post. At that location they use screws that all seized before they were fully seated using the first screw driver that is usually more than adequate. I was not able to fully seat the screws with any of my cross point screw drivers. The screws also support using a flat blade screwdriver and the one pictured was able to fully seat all the screws. Not sure why they could also use hex headed bolts in this location. My other dislike is the regulator/hose configuration has the hose crimped to the regulator making it a single unit and less modular requireming the complete assembly to be replaced if either should fail. In addition, there is no elbow to reduce stress on the hose due to the short radius bend present. See picture. If you are around 5 ft, you may have trouble reaching the controls as I'm only 5'8" and they are reach for me. The completed picture shows it being about 7 ft tall based on the opening of my carport. If you want serious heat, this is the product for you. If you want the open fire pit look, that's fine, but their heat output hasn't worked that well for me. ... show more
