I was skeptical that this would be just-another-nameless-manufacturer of relatively inexpensive (i.e. cheap) patio gear, but I was wrong. This heater is nice for the price. It's sturdy enough for the purpose (especially if you get the sand/water tank for extra weight), and it puts out a decent amount of heat over a wide area. The 50K BTU unit is pretty big (I didn't really consider the size of the baffle when purchasing - be warned). The heat is even, and the heat mesh puts off a nice glow as well. It was pretty easy to put together, and the quality of instructions (color, with pictures and diagrams) and components (everything has a spare, not using soft metal, etc.) are excellent. I purchased the stainless steel model, directions were in perfect English and very easy to understand. The protective blue wrap was satisfying to remove off the top cover . The company did an amazing job at packing the unit and it arrived safely to my home with zero damage. Unit works great and I can enjoy my outside deck in cooler temperatures. I have read almost every review requesting customer help. However, I read that right after I made the purchase. What I will say is that I have absolutely no complaints. As a female near 60, I took it upon myself to attempt it myself. I actually completed it in 1 1/2 hr alone. I waited 2 days because of other responsibilities when I started it. It was a little tricky To put together. It has a lot of parts. It works well, it’s not all that heavy and is pretty easy to use. It does leak propane slightly but otherwise it’s good.

Leaking regulator. Not a small leak. It was streaming out of the fitting. Regulator had a leak at the 1/8 npt fitting, mostly from it being stripped out the in aluminum. Make this whole thing useless and dangerous. Now I have to spend more money on a regulator. So 30 dollars and a trip to tractor supply and my new heater works Making this effectively 40 dollars more expensive, and delay in using this by couple days till I had time to replum the gass system. At least I have the ability to work on the thing, most would have tossed in trash or returned the useless broke out the box junk. Would not buy this again and can not recommend because you have a gas leak. As a follow up, they reached out and made it right. I was compensated for my time and the new regulator. I appreciate them reaching out, their customer service rep was polite and prompt. The heater works as intended now and I enjoy seating under it. Plenty of heat. Thank you ... show more

The heater worked great on our patio though the winter. I was moving it to another location on the patio and the upper pipe broke at the weld base. Inspection showed a defective weld. I contacted East Oak via email, described the issue, and enclosed a couple of pictures. They immediately responded and told me they were sending out replacement parts. I received the box a few days later. I inspected the welds and they seem to be solid. Everything installed quickly and it is back up and running. I would highly recommend East Oak for their prompt response and desire to stand behind their product. ... show more

I purchased this heater after reading lots of reviews, noting that many said they had problems with the igniter, but customer service was great and fixed the problem. And the lower cost compared to other well reviewed brands was much better. Well, I have to say it was worth chancing it. We did have one problem, a screw hole was stripped and we couldn’t fully assemble it. After contacting customer service they quickly and apologetically sent me the replacement parts I needed. And even checked in after to make sure I got them, and it was working correctly. The 55K BTU is more than enough on a cool spring night, we don’t even turn it all the way up. This is a great heater and works very well. My husband was moving it and bent the reflector shield pretty badly. I had purchased Asurion insurance to cover the heater, but it doesn't cover the shield. I contacted customer service to order a new one, and they said they would replace it for me free of charge!
