A couple of years ago, we bought a full-size, corded Shark vacuum, with all of the extras, which we love; it's an absolute beast. But, when we bought that, I wanted a cordless, lightweight vacuum, instead - an "everyday vacuum." So imagine my delight, when last summer (July 2024), during Prime Days, I ran across this little gem and got a sweet deal on it, too. It is everything I was looking for in my "everyday vacuum" plus so much more! It's super lightweight, super easy to maneuver all around our house, has plenty of suction power for most all of our needs and it empties quick & easy. It has plenty enough charge to vacuum our entire house, and that includes bumping it up into high-power a couple of times to suck up something bigger than the usual dust & crumbs. We do have hard floors throughout and our house is only around 1500 SQ feet, but we also have cats, dogs and 2 big, messy Macaw parrots, so I do put it through its paces. I think my favorite thing about it is being able to "turn" it into a hand vac, or converting it so I can clean the ceiling fans, dust the furniture, etc. All of the attachments, and things are so easy to remove and put together with that satisfying "CLICK"...no fidgeting with hard to press buttons or fighting with parts that have a top secret way to fit together. And, when you're done, hang it up until tomorrow, when you'll find it charged up and ready to go, even if you're not! ... show more

    • Awesome, worth the money
I am more enthusiastic about my Dyson cordless vacuums than any other appliances I've ever owned! My first, the V8 Animal, was a gift. After 4+ years of daily use, the lightweight, powerful and super convenient machine's battery wasn't lasting very long on the highest suction and the beater brush was getting worn down. Both parts are replaceable but I decided to put the money toward a second, newer model, the V8 Extra. I now use the older one for the patio and workshop. Dyson is a class act and the customer service is wonderful. I have purchased an after market soft hardwood floor head which I like for dust. It is lighted which would be my preference for the regular beater head, but I still wouldn't buy another brand of vacuum cleaner. Worth every penny. ... show more

Charges slowly, on high suction, the battery does not last very long. Overall very easy to use and the attachments are very handy.

    • Dyson is TERRIBLE
Dyson is an absolute joke. We’ve been on with customer service chat for well over an hour with no resolution other than being forwarded troubleshooting videos after we’ve specified MULTIPLE times that all troubleshooting steps have been addressed for our issue. We are asked for proof of purchase, then after giving PoP from Amazon, we are told it’s insufficient as the Dyson store has supplier listed as “Other”. What’s the point of product registration, having an account (which why you need an account for a vacuum is ridiculous itself), and confirming a laundry list of information when you’re just going to be told they “can’t verify purchase” in the end? Are you serious? We’ve had this vacuum less than a year and a SINGLE issue can’t be resolved. Biggest waste of time and money. Save yourself the trouble of dealing with Dyson CS. They go around and around doing everything to NOT take responsibility for a poor product and waste your time. Go with another company! ... show more

    • Dyson V8 Extra is a beast!
This is better than my regular vacuums. By far the best I have ever owned. I was a little hesitant to get another stick style vacuum I had purchased one before that was a bit junky and did very little but make a lot of noise. But this Dyson is a BEAST! It never fails to perform. And with all the attachment choices there is very little I cannot reach. I mean I have purposely sought out nooks and crannies because I have this there is no place that this thing cannot reach and clean. Worth every penny. They cost more because they WORK. Battery for me is great you rarely need turbo or high speed mode the regular mode does so much. I guess if you had to suck up a lot of really heavy bits of something turbo mode is needed, but so far it is like hitting the NOS button on a race car.....it goes Plaid. Get one. You will not be let down. ... show more

I've owned an older refurbished Dyson for years. . .. but don't care for lugging around that elephantine machine, and after using the newer 'stick' version at families homes, I finally decided to get one for our place! It stores in a convenient, small space, has plenty of suction, and is amazingly quick and efficient, especially on wood, or laminate floors. It manages tight spots, and is so light and easy to use, and I'm just discovering the hand held advantages for cleaning the car, and other small clean up jobs! I also love the 'user friendly' Dyson design, with easy to replace parts, filters that can be cleaned and reused, and You Tube videos for repairs and problems. What a deal. . . . . with my recent Amazon discount special!! ... show more

    • Works OK, liked earlier version way better
Try to find the version 7 if you can! I have a 7 that I absolutely love. Got this one because it was on sale, for a different level of the house. Its obviously a cheaper version. Doesn't show how much battery is left, it shocks my hip everytime it touches me, the way it attaches to the wall doesn't automatically charge it - you have to jam it in the holder then watch for the blue lights to know its seated correctly. It doesn't have digital codes on it to tell you things like the other ones do like "clean filter" etc. They screwed up the design with this one. It does have a switch on it for more suction that works great, other than that I'm not very happy with this model. ... show more
