I bought the Dyson V16 Piston Animal primarily for our two cats and one dog, and it has completely outperformed my old Shark. The suction is honestly impressive — it pulls out significantly more pet hair from the carpet than I ever managed before. It does fill up pretty quickly because of how much cat hair is in our carpets, but emptying it is super easy and mess-free. Battery life has also been excellent. I’ve already used it for over an hour straight and it still showed 24 minutes remaining. I was always skeptical of Dyson products and this is the first one I’ve ever owned. I’m pleasantly surprised and already thinking about trying another Dyson product. Highly recommend if you’re dealing with pets and tired of mediocre suction. ... show more

    • Don't bother, it's a terrible design!

I've had 4 Dyson cordless vacuums over the years, the V8, V12, Gen5 Detect and was excited to upgrade to the V16 (even though I only had my Gen 5 for a year and a half). What a complete disappointment! The worst Dyson ever! I've returned it already. Maybe I received a defective machine, but the dustbin didn't close properly and would open while vacuuming. It was constantly shutting down, telling me there was a blockage, and there were no blockages. I could be a Dyson technician for the amount of times I've had to take these machines apart over the years. The cleaner head is smaller and it takes longer to vacuum. The suction is horrible, even on boost setting it's lacking power compared to past models. It was difficult to maneuver, seemed to have a mind of it's own. The cleaner motorhead is a bulkier design and it's higher and very bulky. My past Dysons fit nicely under furniture, this one does not. I like the compact feature in the dustbin, where you can compact the dirt so you don't have to empty as often, but I fear that this new design is what's causing the bin to not close properly. This machine didn't perform well, it felt cheaper than all my previous Dysons, and I'm wondering if they're trying to cut costs? If so they're certainly not passing these savings on to the consumer, this machine was over a thousand dollars! Dyson I think you need a woman who loves to clean and vacuum (that would be me), to help you with a better design. Not sure who's engineering these vacuums, but it certainly can't be anyone that is a vacuum enthusiast, too many shortfalls Dyson. ... show more

it’s a pretty good VACUUM. It does have a light that shines on the floor. I have a golden retriever. I never realize how much hair there was that the light shines that you can’t see when you’re just using my regular original DYSON cordless vacuum I almost wish I didn’t buy it because it’s showing me so much hair that it seem like it never goes away. Purchased to replace V8 that we had for years but had reached its end. Knew it did not have a hose attachment but was disappointed that none of the V8 attachments or charging stand work with the V16. For now the V16 is much higher cost with less options. As a cordless vacuum, it performs very well. Just be aware that without a hose it is limited in use and so far there is no charging stand available. ... show more

I am not a vacuum snob, I don't know much about the best ones to get, or even the good ones; but I can say though this is an excellent machine, easy to use, great compared to the v15, I would still hold onto the v15 if that's what you have. This dyson was disappointing. The quality of the item is not typical for dyson. The floor head was difficult on all floors. It came with only two tools. A crevice tool and a pet tool. For the price it should have included at least a dusting brush also. It did not. The suction I found weaker than the original dysons. Battery life was good but it was just not worth the price. I have used one hundred dollar vacuums from amazon that cleaned much better. I am not a vine customer and I am giving my honest opinion ... show more

The vacuum is defective. I purchased it on July 7 and have only used it twice. Today was only the third time I tried to use it, and it turns on for about five seconds and then shuts off automatically. For such an expensive vacuum to fail after only two uses is unacceptable.
