S I have had the V12 for about 4 years. Was ready for an upgrade. We have 3 cats and 2 dogs and the pet hair is a challenge. The pros: the vacuum does a great job cleaning hair and dust. The vacuum attachment has a green light now which is helpful but also horrifying. The filter is washable so no need to replace it. The dirt cannister hold more and a plunger feature pushes all the dust/debris out of the machine. The battery lasts much longer than my V12.The cons: it's heavier and the vacuum attachment is not as wide so I spend longer cleaning and the main pole attachment does not attach easily (on and off) vacuum base. ... show more

This has to be the worst Dyson cordless vacuum made to date. The cleaner head is small, they boast the “most powerful” vacuum they’ve made yet when putting it on the turbo strength it will not stay. It switches to low every time. A very poor excuse of a vacuum all around and when you’re changing more than $1000 it better be worth it. Dyson had the Animal vacuum years ago and at that time they were making great products. It’s gone downhill since. ... show more

This dyson was disappointing. The quality of the item is not typical for dyson. The floor head was difficult on all floors. It came with only two tools. A crevice tool and a pet tool. For the price it should have included at least a dusting brush also. It did not. The suction I found weaker than the original dysons. Battery life was good but it was just not worth the price. I have used one hundred dollar vacuums from amazon that cleaned much better. I am not a vine customer and I am giving my honest opinion ... show more

This is the first vacuum that I've owned that actually makes me WANT to vacuum. I've owned 5 different stick vacuums, some from Dyson and some from other companies. This new V16 animal vacuum is the best I’ve used, it is an absolute gamechanger. It turns vacuuming into a game, I feel like I'm on a treasure hunt or a quest to collect fur and dust. The green dust finder light is incredible! It makes the dust and fur visible and honestly kind of grossed me out at first. I’ve been vacuuming consistently so I never knew there’d be so much dust in the house! I guess my current non-Dyson vacuum was not performing well. This vacuum comes with 4 heads and my favorite one to use is the Fluffy Optic one because I have mostly hardwood floors. What I like to do is alternate the cone sense and fluffy optic. One day, I will use the Cone Sense head, then the next time I vacuum I'll use the Fluffy Optic. This works great because the cone sense head picks up my long hairs and prevents it from tangling, while the fluffy optic head picks up the remaining dust, fur and smaller dust particles. The cone sense head is great for getting under the bed and other furniture because it rotates in all angles and can become completely flat. I also love how you can just detach the head and there is already a built in angled tip so you don't need to carry around an extra head to do the crevices. I thought the vacuum would be heavy but it is a good weight and I'm able to vacuum the whole house in one go without recharging or emptying the canister. It takes me about 30-40 minutes to vacuum the whole house. The vacuum glides smoothly on my floors, and rug, and even my yoga mat lol. The green light makes it so fun, I actually look forward to vacuuming now! The dust canister is super convenient because you can push the dust/fur down and compact it. Once the bin gets full, you can actually push the contents down and out of the bin. I love this feature because it means less bin cleaning. With my previous vacuum, I used to wear gloves and reach into the bin to pull the tangled hairs out. There is no tangling of hairs at all with this vacuum! None of my previous vacuums have been this much fun to use, or this effective. It is an expensive vacuum, but the quality and technology is incomparable to any other vacuums I've owned. And it is actually encouraging me to vacuum more often. So for me, it is worth the price. Oh, I've also noticed that I've been sneezing much less!! ... show more

I've used a lot of vacuums over the years, from budget models to premium brands, and this is easily one of the most impressive cordless vacuums I've ever used. At this price point, expectations are understandably high, and I'm happy to say the V16 Piston Animal delivers. The first thing that stands out is the suction power. It handles everything from fine dust to pet hair and larger debris without hesitation. Carpets look noticeably cleaner after a pass, and hard floors are equally impressive. The vacuum feels powerful enough that it often replaces my full-size vacuum for everyday cleaning. The build quality is excellent. Everything feels solid, well engineered, and designed with attention to detail. The attachments connect securely, and switching between cleaning tasks is quick and easy. Whether cleaning floors, furniture, stairs, or vehicle interiors, it adapts well without feeling cumbersome. Battery life has been very good in normal use, and I appreciate that Dyson gives you useful performance information rather than leaving you guessing. The filtration system is another highlight, especially in a home with pets. It captures an incredible amount of dust and fine debris that many vacuums seem to miss. What surprised me most is how easy it makes cleaning. Because it's cordless, lightweight, and always ready to go, I find myself cleaning more often instead of waiting until things get bad enough to drag out a larger vacuum. That convenience factor is hard to overstate. Is it expensive? Absolutely. A thousand dollars is a serious investment for a vacuum. But after using it, I can at least understand where the money goes. The performance, engineering, filtration, battery system, and overall user experience are all genuinely premium. If you're looking for the cheapest way to clean your floors, this isn't it.
