  • Love the V10
Color: Purple
I have hated every vacuum I've ever owned, including the Dyson ball, mainly because of the weight, cord management, and clumsiness of almost any vacuum on the market. That is changing with the V10, which we've had about a week. So far it is excellent in all areas. We have 2 Siberian cats that shed a lot of hair, which I obsess about. This is a solid solution for us, not only for the pet hair, but general use. The light weight, ease of changing attachments, and the options for power/speed are great. Of course I wish the battery lasted longer, but it is sufficient if you don't run it in boost mode all the time. Just set up the charging station somewhere and put the unit back every time you're done. A couple of things I noticed about the independent review video: I believe the adapting function from floor to carpet has been modified since the video was made. I don't have the problem of sucking up rugs and shutting down power like he does in the video, except on very light rugs (maybe he was in boost mode?). But the mechanism he shows you on the bottom of the main roller is completely different on the unit we received. Also, you do not get all of the attachments that are shown in the video. The mini-motor was not included. However, a similar screw tool specifically for pet hair came with our purchase and it works beautifully on furniture, curtains and other soft surfaces where cat hair sticks like glue. Use this in boost mode on those cat tree pads and they will be like new. Also, the Dyson phone app is great. You can chat with someone in customer service in real time. I recommend the V10, especially for pet owners. ... show more

  • I use it much more often than my Dyson upright
Color: Purple
Quick to use and it cleans well. I have a Dyson upright and the V10 Animal largely replaces it and can easily do things the upright isn't well suited for (stairs, under the bed, tight floor spaces). While the V10 is great for a room or two at a time, it won't replace a canister or upright for whole-house cleaning due to limited battery run time. The battery life is really dependent on how you use it. With a dusting brush and the suction on low you can go for a long time. With the power brush and the suction on medium you can do floors in a few rooms. If you have pet hair in your carpet you'll need the battery-eating high suction and you'll likely only get one room's carpet clean on a full charge. The dust canister is tiny compared to a Dyson upright. It's easy to accidentally overfill it (pet hair fills it quickly). When it gets overfilled (past half full), it can require pulling the canister all the way off and removing lint with your fingers. I wish the canister were a bit larger. Be aware that the lower-priced V10 Machine Head model has an even smaller canister, which I imagine would be frustrating as it wouldn't hold much. The rug/floor cleaning head is narrower than an upright so you need more passes, but it's a really versatile size and is ideal for stairs, bathrooms, the kitchen and under furniture. It works well on hardwood, tile, rug and carpet. The spinning brush doesn't collect hair but it will collect loose threads. All in all, a great cleaning tool and I'm very happy with it. ... show more

  • Love this thing
Color: Purple
Although the price tag made me wanna cry, after having this thing for a week, I have to say it's worth the price. Vacuuming used to be one of those chores I absolutely hated, and I'd only do it a couple times a week. Half the battle was dragging out the big vacuum and unwrapping the cord and then trying to keep the cord out of the way and then re-wrapping the cord when I was done. With this handy little machine, I can just grab it off the wall mounted charging dock and go. No cord to deal with, no switching outlets from room to room. And when I'm done, I can literally just drop it back on the dock and it starts charging again. Even on the lowest setting, this thing has plenty of suction. I haven't even used the max suction setting, I haven't needed to. The battery life is great. I just did all of my floors (4 rooms carpeted, 3 rooms hard floors) and all 3 of my cat trees (a four foot, a six foot and a seven and a half foot) on the medium setting and still had plenty of battery left to do the sofa. Super easy to switch between the floor tools and the handheld tools and back again. The mini motorized tool does a great job at getting out the stubborn cat hair on the cat trees and the sofa that suction alone could never seem to get. Only drawback is that the canister gets in the way when trying to do some of the tight spots on the cat trees. I do have to empty the dustbin several times when doing a whole house vacuuming because ugh, cat hair but for a stick vac the dustbin is actually a decent size. And it's super easy to empty. While this vacuum isn't "whisper silent" it's quite a bit less noisy than my corded vac. My cats still don't like it, but they don't race from the room like their tails are on fire when I turn it on like they do with the big vac. Since I got this thing, I have vacuumed every single day and I haven't minded doing it. It's just so easy to grab and go, drop and dock. Makes all the difference in the world! ... show more

  • We Love It
Color: Purple
We recently moved into a 1500 sq. ft. home with our 6 furry friends and we desperately needed a new vacuum. I wanted something that would be easy to take out and clean at the drop of a hat, something that can pick up lab hair (something I'm sure all lab parents battle with), and something I could takle the stairs with without wrestling the machine to do so. In fact, our last vacuum took a dive down the stairs and broke. My husband also has severe asthma, and keeping a clean house with so many pets is a priority. I took my time researching and settled on this lovely contraption. I must say, every single person I've told about it has been skeptical - until they use it. My husband was so disappointed I didn't get the Dyson ball, it actually turned into an argument. Well, after charging the battery he was the first one to use it and. He. Vacuumed. The. Entire. House. The entire house, guys. I didn't get to try it out until later in the week. He no longer calls it a vacuum, it's his ray gun. My husband turns into Rick while he vacuums. We use the vacuum in the lowest setting for the entire house and it does an excellent job! We'll only switch to medium if we're going over a particularly dirty patch of carpet, and the highest setting starts to lift the carpet off the floor (we never need that setting). What about the lab hair, you ask? It doesn't stand a chance! My last vacuum would take 3 passes to pick up all the lab hair, and we don't have that problem with this vacuum. We can vacuum the entire house on one fully charged battery with juice to spare. It's also less intimidating to my pets, they really don't mind it very much. We do have to dump it quite a few times when we vacuum the whole house, but that doesn't bother us. If anything we're impressed with the amount this vacuum picks up, and are grateful for it. Our lab mix like to sleep under our bed, and this vacuum has a swivel that reminds me of a swifer mop. It is so easy to vacuum underneath furniture, I can now get to the mess of hair our lab leaves behind under the bed! The only think I wish was better about this machine is the storage, or the lack thereof. I'm still used to having a vacuum that provides "homes" for all of the attachments that come with it. Because of the minimal design of this vacuum, there aren't enough places to store the attachments. I ended up designating a spot in a drawer for the extras. And that's it! If you happen to watch the video, there a part near the end where you can watch the vacuum slice a small dirt patchin half on the low setting. My husband's having fun, too. Check it out! ... show more

  • Great vacuum, with a few flaws
Color: Purple
Coming back to a Dyson after not having one for about 5 years made me remember why we initially bought one. I like that Dyson has moved to pretty much all cordless vacuums, they are much easier to use and more lightweight. The amount of dirt and pet hair that a Dyson sucks up compared to Bissell or Shark is unmeasurable. I also like that the dirt canister is much bigger on the Dyson than other cordless/bagless vacuums I have owned. I've seen several reviews about how people don't like that Dyson batteries don't last very long, but I would disagree. I kept the suction on the 1st or 2nd mode and was able to clean my entire house before the battery ran out. I wasn't able to do that with a Bissell of a similar version. I only use the Boost mode for areas of carpet where I know there is a lot of pet hair, so I wonder if the battery runs out faster for people who use the Boost mode the whole time they are vacuuming. There are only two things that I don't enjoy about this specific Dyson Cyclone V10 Cordless Vacuum. 1. The power button doesn't stay down, meaning I have to hold it down with my finger the entire time I am vacuuming. This may not be a big issue for most people, but for some one with major joint issues due to having RA, this is a big frustration. 2. The canister is extremely difficult to pull off the vacuum hose in order to dump it out. It takes me at least 3-4 tries every time I need to dump it out to get the canister to come off. I always wince thinking I am going to end up pulling it back too hard and hitting myself in the face lol Those are the only two issues I have, otherwise its a great working vacuum, lightweight, and comes with a nice bundle of attachments. ... show more

  • I’m a cordless believer now.
Color: Purple
Quick update, after 5.5 years, the cannister stop has broken and the inner seal's retainers have degraded and broken. About $100 in parts to fix. Still like the Vacuum, but was expecting better engineering for high shock parts. Original Review: Just simply, wow! I was a little worried about buying yet another device with a proprietary battery, but I’m blown away. First, it is extremely light. With my corded Dyson it was a pain in the rear lugging that thing up and down the stairs all the time. With this one, it is so light that when I’m going down stairs to empty the bin, I’ll just vacuumm the heavy traffic areas on the way. No way that would have happened with my old vac. The roller (animal version) has a large diameter which means no dog hair gets wrapped around the roller. The small motor brush Does wrap hair, but it is really easy to clean. Just use a coin to unscrew the side cover and the brush twists out. Pair of sissors and you are done. I do wish that the bin was a little bigger, but it’s really easy to dump that it’s not really a big deal. The slider does a great job of pushing all the dirt and hair out (which I had doubts about when I first saw it). The battery is ok. It can do a floor of my house on a charge at the middle power setting with the motorized brush. But since I no longer have to keep moving the power cord around when vacuuming, I think it is an acceptable compromise. It’s not a big deal to do a floor one day and the other the next day or a couple of hours later. I was worried about having to replace the battery at some point, but since we expect to use it once a week, the 10 year battery expectation sounds plausible. The battery is up there in price, but not bad if only replacing once in 10 years. This vacuum has great suction. We mostly use it on medium and performs well. It also has a light mode and a “so you want this permiantely attached to the floor” mode. Seriously, high mode has quite a bit of suction and it is noticeable when pushing the motorized head. The wand has a ball on it where if you rotate the body left or right it will guide the head to the left or right, which is quite nice. The motor head is so small we can easily vacuum under the bed and cabinate overhangs. Dust bunnies were vanquished. Now price. Yeah, this is expensive. I was very happy with the quality and life of my old corded Dyson so it’s a little easier of a pill to swallow taking the excellent build into account. But yeah, pricey. If this sounds like a gushing review, well, it kinda is. It’s not very often a product exceeds my expectations; however, I suppose that at this price it should. ... show more

  • Do not buy into these ratings- it is lousy (was going to say it sucked, but . . . )
Color: Purple
I have a lot of hardwood and some area carpets on the main floor, and wall to wall carpets in the basement. This. Is. Lousy. On. Hardwood. And not nearly as good as a corded vacuum on carpeting. I've had this for 3 years, and I hate this vacuum so much. Here's a short list: 1) Tepid sucking power. Its average on its highest setting. But that burns the battery so fast you can't do more than one room. And high power is really not nearly as much sucking power as a corded vacuum. 2) It jams all the time. There is a little tiny outlet into the reservoir canister, and it becomes clogged and has to be cleared every 10 minutes or so. You can be vacuuming away for 10 minutes, and then you realize you're just pushing crumbs around on the floor. 3) I have 2800 square feet on the main floor, another 1200 on other levels, and it this thing can do maybe 1/3 at a time without recharging. If you think you have a smaller place, and so maybe this will work for you, keep reading. But if that's the case, you really don't need a cordless anyway, a cord will reach across the room. 4) It is really less than average on hardwood- even on it's highest setting (which will burn the battery out in 5 minutes) its less-than-average. 5) It's ok on carpet, but so is every vacuum, you don't need to pay this kind of money for that. 6) Cordless sounds great- but really, how much of a hassle is it to use a cord? And seeing how the battery can only handle about 1/3 of your house, it keeps clogging, and also- a key point- the reservoir is relatively small, so you'll have to stop to empty that constantly, so any annoyance in plugging in a cord is swiftly overcome by how lousy this vacuum actually is. 7) I know what you're thinking, cause that's what I thought- "This thing is so ungodly expensive, and there are all these great reviews, so it's got to be awesome." Except it isn't. I've more than given it a chance, I really wanted to like it, and it sucks (well, I wish it sucks, it's a vacuum, you know what I mean). I literally use this, and then have to sweep the floor like a fricking caveman. 8) I bought a replacement from Bissell for $100 and I love it. Save yourself hundreds of dollars and buy this one off Amazon instead and don't make the mistake I made: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TFYMWF6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 9) it really bothers me that people are buying this thing. Don't make the same mistake! Run, don't walk away from this stupid underpowered waste of money. ... show more

  • Handy, light, cordless vacuum has the brushes and suction to really clean
Color: Purple
Our house has a central vacuum. I generally like it, but would not go to the expense of installing it if my house didn't already have it. You carry the hose around and plug it in to any number of ports in the walls. The suction unit is downstairs in the laundry room, so you can vacuum upstairs without making much noise at all. The canister is a huge pain to empty, though, and the hose nozzle doesn't have a beater brush, making it not a great solution for carpets. You can get nozzles with beater brushes, but then you have not only a hose to plug into the vacuum port, but an electrical cord to plug into an outlet. So we also have a serious, plugin electric upright vacuum. But it's heavy and again, you can only vacuum so far before you have to stop, unplug, and plug back in to another outlet. We have a Neato robotic vacuum, which does a great job on the wood floors, but sometimes gets stuck under a piece of furniture, and can't navigate the baby/dog gates in our house. I got this Dyson just to have something handy in the kitchen for quick crumb cleanup. I mostly use it with the long tube and the wide beater brush. I've found myself using this vacuum almost exclusively. It's so handy to grab it out of the charging dock (I have it hanging in a narrow space between a wall and a cabinet, so it's handy but out of sight), and hit the crumbs in the kitchen and the rugs in the house. On wood floors/tile, I use the lowest suction setting. I use maximum on the rugs, and it has enough battery life for me to thoroughly clean 4 rugs. You wouldn't believe how much dust and dog hair I pull out every couple days! The Dyson is easy to empty, and cleaning isn't hard, either. I take the long tube off and attach the narrower beater brush for cleaning the stairs and cleaning out the cars. It's all light enough for my wife to lift, but she never has to because I love this vacuum so much, I do all the vacuuming! ... show more
