I’ve had several Dyson vacuums over the years. Great quality and easy to maintain and fix. I splurged for this new cordless one even though my 15 yr old Dyson is still working, just not as good as it once did. Wow! This V10 is a joy! Powerful, easy to maneuver, and light. I thought I wouldn’t like having to keep the trigger pressed to run it but it’s so ergonomic it’s not an issue at all. I saw a review that said it was loud. I don’t find it loud at all, especially in comparison to my old one. How to empty the canister wasn’t intuitive to me but Dyson provides great short videos of that and routine maintenance. I mounted it on the wall and just lift it off to do a quick run around each morning. Makes it easy to keep up with the fur from 3 large. Dogs in a small house! ... show more

I finally pulled the trigger on this sucker. Literally and figuratively. I’d been eyeballing it for about 9 months after using a friends. It is everything I hoped it would be. We have a dog that sheds like it’s his job and 3 kittens that are equally as hairy. I was a bit concerned that being cordless would mean sacrificing a bit of suction. Nope. It’s as sucky as they come, if not suckier. It gets all the hair and dirt! I had purchased another brand (corded) vacuum less than a year ago and had nothing but problems with it. I used it right before opening the Dyson (which I have named Mike Tyson the Dyson by the way), then used the Dyson right afterwards… it was AMAZING how much stuff the old vacuum missed that I didn’t even realize. Our house is mostly hardwoods with some low pile carpeting and it works equally well on both. Another concern I had was the 40 minute run time. Would it be enough time for a full vacuum of my (2000+sq/ft) house? It is. A big part of the reason for that is because it’s SO easy to pull this thing off it’s charger and spot vacuum, I do it far more frequently. No more animal hair tumble weeds that magically appear overnight. The coolest feature is how all of the pieces snap in effortlessly. You can make it long or short and put different attachments on either. I can finally reach my porch ceiling without a chair or ladder! Also, if you need to bring it somewhere away from your house, you can detach it and still bring the cord if you need to charge it without using the docking station. This is obviously not an inexpensive buy, but in my opinion, it’s worth the money. I was sick of buying mediocre ones every couple of years. This comes with a 2 year warranty and lifetime assistance. I kept my eye on it and once the price went down to $399, I bought it. I’ve managed to talk 2 other friends into buying one since I bought mine 8 weeks ago and they are both equally as happy. I have two cats and a shedding dog and this vacuum does a super job getting up pet hair. Lightweight. Highly maneuverable. Good suction and it doesn't bang into the walls like my old canister vac. I love the way it cleans. What I don't love it that "up to 60 minutes of run time" actually amounts to about 15 minutes and then it takes hours to recharge. I'm wondering if the battery is defective. I will be reaching out to the manufacturer and posting an update. UPDATE: I moved the power button back from high to medium and was able to get more time. HOWEVER, 6 months into using it the engine is now repeatedly cutting out for the first 10 minutes of use, then seems to settle down and run. Cleaning it frequently doesn't seem to help. Let me add that the seals on this machine are not very good. From the beginning, dust seemed to be leaking from every seam on the plastic casing. Contacting the manufacturer. 2ND UPDATE March 2026: I bought this is May 2023 because the wand style looked convenient. Last week I finally gave up on it. Hair continually clogs up the innards. the seals are shot. Suction is poor. The hand-held attachment died a year ago. I had a Miele cannister vacuum that I bought used in 2003 and gave me another 23 years of good service. Plus all the attachments were packed inside the vacuum cannister, not in a bag to get lost. I purchased Dyson Cyclone V10 Animal Cordless Vacuum as a birthday gift for my 79yr old mother. She admitted that she was not able to vacuum more than a few times a month because the effort of using her old vacuum wiped her out. Yeah, who gives a vacuum for a present? Well her reviews are in! Best birthday present ever. She says it easily vacuums the hair of her two cats, handles her old shag rug without jamming, and is easy and lightweight enough that she is using it every few days. Battery time is plenty long enough to cover the main portions of her 3 bedroom house and she also noted that it is BEAUTIFUL! I was concerned she wouldn't like the bag-less design, as she had a bag-less vacuum before and hated it.
