  • VERY effective, but also quite heavy
Style: Ball Animal 2 Plus
The Dyson Ball Animal 2 Plus Corded Vacuum is VERY EXCELLENT! I have owned several high end vacuums over the years, but I not had a Dyson before. This vacuum is very competitive with others that are twice this price and only available through licensed dealers. 1- The suction on this vac is amazing - it really cleans deeply. I also like that if you stop pushing the vac, the bar stops turning. This helps to prevent damage to the carpet from digging at it if you're standing still. 2 - The additional tools are great - They're fairly standard, and that's ok with me. 3- This vac is VERY heavy. It didn't take long for me to decide that it'll remain upstairs where the carpet is in the bedrooms, and the other vac will be used for the first floor. It's just too heavy to drag it around the house. 4 - It's so heavy that I had hand and wrist pain from vacuuming carpets the following day. 5 - The cord is quite long, which is really great. Nice to not have to replug it in every room. 6 - It's very easy to empty the canister and keep going. 7 - The handheld wand is weird and uncomfortable. It sort of feels like you're taking the vac apart to use that feature. So, there are things about this vac that I don't love. But the job of the vacuum is to clean the floors - and it absolutely does that. I give it 5 stars because it's very effective. Even my shag carpet was cleaned of cat hair - that's impressive. If you're looking at this model, it merits consideration. Be aware that it is not lightweight. I also don't see where I could reduce the suction if I want to - like for area rugs. That's a very helpful feature, if it's there. This is a solid vac that takes getting used to. It does and excellent job, and it's not terribly expensive. I recommend it, especially if you are strong enough to manage it. ... show more

  • Excellent Deep Cleaning for Homes With Pets
Style: Ball Animal 2 Plus
I’ve owned quite a few vacuums over the years, and the Dyson Ball Animal 2 Plus is by far the most powerful one I’ve used. If you have a home with mostly carpet and pets that shed constantly, this vacuum is a must have. The suction power is incredible. The first time I used it, I was honestly surprised by how much dirt, dust, and pet hair it pulled out of carpets that I thought were already clean. It does an excellent job lifting embedded debris and pet dander from deep within carpet fibers. The self-adjusting cleaner head automatically adapts between carpet and hard floors, so I don’t have to stop and make manual adjustments as I move through different rooms. With more than one pet in the house, keeping allergens under control is also important, and this vacuum does a great job trapping dust and pet dander instead of blowing it back into the air. The large dust bin is also convenient and easy to empty without creating a mess. The included attachments are very useful and well thought out. I’ve used the stair tool for carpeted stairs, the mattress tool for furniture, and the reach-under tool for areas that are difficult to access. If you have pet hair on upholstery or pet beds, the additional tools make cleanup much easier. The ball steering design takes a little getting used to, but once you learn how it moves, it’s not hard to navigate around furniture and tight corners. That said, this is definitely not a lightweight vacuum. It’s fairly heavy, and carrying it up and down stairs can be a workout. The powerful suction can also make it feel harder to push on certain carpets. It also doesn’t fit particularly well under low furniture because of its size. Those drawbacks are worth mentioning, but for me the cleaning performance outweighs them. I’d rather have a vacuum that requires a little extra effort but actually deep cleans my carpets than one that’s lightweight but leaves dirt behind. If you have pets, a lot of carpeting, and want maximum cleaning power, the Dyson Ball Animal 2 Plus is an excellent investment. I would recommend. ... show more

  • Powerful Pet Hair Pickup With No Battery Limitations
Style: Ball Animal 2 Plus
I ordered this vacuum because I have a dog, and keeping up with pet hair is a never-ending battle in my house. Over the years I’ve tried quite a few vacuums that claimed to be designed for pet owners, but many of them either lost suction over time, clogged easily, or required constant maintenance. The Dyson Ball Animal 2 Plus has been one of the strongest-performing upright vacuums I’ve used for pet hair. The first thing I noticed was the suction power. This vacuum is incredibly powerful and pulls up a surprising amount of dirt, dust, and embedded pet hair from my carpets, even in areas that had been vacuumed recently. The spots where my dog likes to sleep or lounge showed the biggest difference. It was pretty eye-opening to see how much hair and debris it removed that my previous vacuum had left behind. I also appreciate the self-adjusting cleaner head, which transitions well between my hard floors and carpet. I don’t have to stop and make manual adjustments as I move from room to room, which helps speed up cleaning sessions. The ball steering system takes a little getting used to if you’ve never owned a Dyson upright before, but once I adjusted to it, I found it much easier to maneuver around furniture and into tighter spaces than many traditional uprights. Despite its strong cleaning performance, it doesn’t feel overly cumbersome to navigate through the house. Since it is corded, I never have to think about battery life or whether I have enough charge left to finish cleaning. For larger cleaning jobs, I actually find that reassuring compared to cordless models that can run low before I’m done. The included attachments have also been useful for stairs, upholstery, and areas where pet hair tends to collect. The combination of strong suction and specialized tools makes it easier to tackle the spots that usually require extra effort. In summary, the Dyson Ball Animal 2 Plus has done an excellent job handling pet hair, deep-cleaning carpets, and reducing the amount of repeat passes I need to make. For my home with a shedding dog, it has been a noticeable upgrade over many of the vacuums I’ve used in the past. ... show more

  • Great suction, lacking functionality Great suction, lacking functionality
Style: Ball Animal 2 Plus
I have a lot to say about this vacuum, both good and bad. I'll start by saying, I have cats and need to vacuum very often. I have so many vacuums, from cordless, to canister, to upright, to hard floor specific vacuums. This Dyson definitely falls on the top of the list, but it does have some flaws that make it difficult to really love. First the good. It is an amazing vacuum. The suction power is incredible. I have older hardwood floors that have some gaps between the boards and it is very hard to get hidden dirt out from between those cracks. This Dyson got out so much just with regular vacuuming. I'm sure I can use the tools to get everything out if I took my time. Second, the canister is huge, I can vacuum every bit of pet hair up and not have to empty until I am done. Third, the cord is very long. This has been an issue with a lot of vacuums I have had, they always have too short a cord and I have to keep moving it around as I vacuum through the house. Not with this one, the cord is long enough to plug it in and vacuum every room. Fourth, the floor piece head is really long. It covers a lot of area on one pass. Finally, the sleek design looks nice and it comes with a lot of nifty tools. Now for the bad. It is HEAVY. I twisted my back vacuuming my living room rug trying to move it back and forth at an angle. The hardwood wasn't difficult, but on the rugs was hard. It didn't pull the rugs up thankfully, but it made it very difficult to move it. This also means I will not be carrying it upstairs or downstairs to vacuum those floors, so it will live on my first floor only. That sucks a little. Second, assembly was unnecessarily confusing. There is no printed manual, you have to download it. For this price, they could print a manual, or at least clear assembly instructions. I have never had to assemble a vacuum before. The main confusing part is that you have to stick a pole into the crinkle suction tube and lock in at the base. But in the picture the "click" shows at the top of the tube. Mine won't click there, so I don't know if it is actually supposed to also click there, or just at the bottom. It works regardless, but confusing for no reason. Also, the clip it comes with so you can house some of the attachment tools only holds 2 items, and only one actually stays on while using it. The other keeps popping off. It is also very odd the way the crinkle tool extends to use as a handpiece. There is no real handle, you just have to hold the pole. It's very uncomfortable. Overall, it's a great vacuum with great suction, but very very heavy and hard to maneuver. The handheld part makes me like it a lot less. It basically not very ergonomic, it hurts my back and my wrists. Basically, this will be my deep cleaning vacuum. I just don't know if it's worth the price since I can't carry it up and down the stairs to clean my entire house. Price at review: $449.99 ... show more

  • So much power, so convenient
Style: Ball Animal 2 Plus
The Ball Animal 2 is probably the most convenient full sized vacuum I’ve ever used. I felt like every step of the vacuuming process was made as hassle free as possible, and it has extremely strong suction. It amazes me how much dust and other debris it collects from carpets that I thought were already clean. Despite all that power, it’s still a lot more lightweight than my previous vacuum. It maneuvers really well. The ball gives it a tight turn radius, which is great for the many narrow spaces I have, and the way it moves by twisting the handle instead of pushing and pulling like a traditional upright feels like it takes a little less effort. It's a little less of a workout for me. The filtration is also fantastic. Usually when I vacuum, the room ends up smelling a bit dusty, but the air coming out of the Dyson smells clean. I don’t get that burnt dust smell afterward. The filter is also easy to remove and clean. It’s housed inside the ball, and you just rotate the cap to get to it. No tools needed. Another thing I’m really happy with is how long the hose is. It’s easily long enough for me to reach all of my stairs, which I could never do with my old vacuum, and it also makes vacuuming the edges and corners of my ceilings much easier. Though, one of my favorite things about this vacuum is how quickly I can empty the canister without making a mess. The whole thing lifts off with a button, and pressing the same button again opens the bottom hatch so everything falls straight into the trash. It’s one of the few canisters I haven’t had to fight with to remove, empty, or reattach. The vacuum feels well made and well designed, and it has actually made me look forward to vacuuming. ... show more

  • Keeping up with pet hair feels much easier now
Style: Ball Animal 2 Plus
My house is home to two dogs and a cat, so pet hair is pretty much a constant part of daily life. No matter how often I cleaned, I always seemed to find fur collecting along the edges of rooms, on the stairs, and worked into the carpet. After using this vacuum consistently, I've noticed that staying on top of the mess takes a lot less effort. The first cleaning session was eye opening. I had vacuumed just a few days earlier with my old machine, so I wasn't expecting to pick up much. By the time I finished the living room and hallway, the dust bin was full of hair, dust, and debris that I didn't even realize was still there. Seeing what came out of the carpet made me realize it was cleaning much deeper than what I was used to. Most of my floors are carpeted, but I also have some hard flooring in the kitchen and entryway. Moving between different surfaces has been simple, and I haven't had to spend time making constant adjustments. The vacuum glides around furniture better than I expected, which makes cleaning around tables and chairs less frustrating. I've also gotten a lot of use out of the included tools. One attachment has become my go-to for the stairs, while another works well for corners and along baseboards where pet hair tends to collect. I even used it on a fabric chair in my home office and was surprised by how much dust it pulled out. What stands out most is how the house feels after I'm done cleaning. The carpets look neater, there is less pet hair floating around, and rooms seem fresher overall. Cleaning is still a chore, of course, but it feels much more productive now because I can actually see the results when I'm finished. ... show more

  • Super powerful vacuum that really does get deep into carpets. Super powerful vacuum that really does get deep into carpets.
Style: Ball Animal 2 Plus
This is my first Dyson vacuum in years, and holy moly does this thing SUCK (in a good way)! I’ve been using a robot vacuum and a cheap little upright vacuum to get whatever the robo vac left behind, but neither were getting the pet hair deep in my rugs. This Dyson picked up all that hair in one run across the rug. Absolutely amazed. It does require a little bit of assembly out of the box, but it’s not rocket science. Takes just a few minutes before you’re ready to start using it. And its design is really cool. If you want to use it like a shop vac, you just pull the handle out and replace it with one of the nozzles, and the tube expands way more than it looks like it would. It comes with a bunch of different attachments, and has onboard storage for most of them. Extremely power suction power. Almost too much honestly. With the carpet brush enabled, it takes quite a bit of force to move it around on a rug, and it tries to pull the rug around the edges. But that just shows how strong this thing really works. Overall I’m super happy with it. You really do get your money’s worth with a machine like this. It’s night and day compared to the cheap $30 vacuum I was using before. ... show more

  • Great for full house deep cleaning
Style: Ball Animal 2 Plus
This is a really nice full size corded vacuum. Although its corded the cord is long enough that I'm still able to reach across every room and get them done before having to unplug and go to the next room. It also means it won't run out of power so I won't need to wait for a charge up to finish cleaning. It's really good for larger houses where you will need a longer running time. It has good suction and comes with some additional accesories including a tool to get into crevices or stairs and an attachment that can be used to suck up dust from high places. The ball design of this vacuum allows it to glide and turn effortlessly while being pushed and is easy for one hand use. The canister is also really easy to empty straight into the trash without having to mess with bags or replacing filters. It is powerful enough that it gets all the animal hair up and we have a lot of shedding cats and a dog as well as myself with very long hair. The hair does not tangle up in the rollers which is awesome because before I would have to stop and use a pair of scissors on my old vacuum to cut the hair out. It does take a bit more space to store than stick vacuums but I'm happy to have it for bigger jobs and full house deep cleaning. ... show more
