  • Bright led in your eyes, difficulty changing aspect ratio
A simple and cheap DVD player that functions ok. It doesn’t always detect the remote, but that’s typical for infrared remotes in my set-up (blue tooth remotes don’t have as many line of sight problems but are more expensive). It features a bright, blue led that serves no purpose except illuminating a plastic piece along the front of the player. This can be bright enough to hurt your eyes when watching movies in the dark. I guess that I will open the player’s case to cut the wires going to it (the light stays on even when the player is off) or try masking and spray painting over it to cover it up. I have to remove a star for the difficulty I had in changing the aspect ratio. It was stuck in 4:3 but my tv is 16:9. I followed the instructions but the place where the ratio is supposed to be able to be changed was greyed out, leaving me with big black bars surrounding the picture. So I contacted their customer service, who told me to... read the instructions. So I re-read them, found nothing helpful, and then reiterated to customer support that I was following the instructions but that the place where I was supposed to change the ratio was greyed out. Their response was to ask if I remembered to connect the hdmi cable and told me again to read the instructions. Now let’s think about this... if I had not connected the hdmi cable, how would I know that the picture was stuck in 4:3??? How would I be able to see the menu??? After hours of experimenting with different cables, different types of cables (hdmi & component), connecting to different input ports on my tv, and changing my tv’s displayed ratio with the player on/off, I finally stumbled on the cause to the problem: there cannot be a disk in the player when you attempt to change the ratio. The instructions didn’t mention anything about removing the disk first. I am certain: I read them carefully before contacting customer support and then re-read them at least twice more. ... show more

  • The remote is extremely complicated.
Color: 2022 New Version
Works very well; however, it has so many options on the remote that make it difficult to read. I’m sure younger users will like it. Getting sub-titles in 8 languages seems excessive.

  • Don't waste your money!
Color: 2022 New Version
This dvd player totally sucks! The first time we used it, it didn't work properly. The disc drawer pops open all the time, at random times, watching a movie, on standby, whenever. Then the horrible grinding noises started. Every time I put a disc in, when it closes, it sounds like a fork in a garbage disposal. That went on for about a month, then this morning, it finally just gave up. The disc drawer will pop open and shut but just makes the grinding metal on metal sound, won't play anything now. This was a total waste of money, it was cheap, you'll get what you pay for. Total garbage, should have just shelled out the extra money for a reputable brand that works. ... show more
