This is just a perfect basic DVD player for someone on a budget! My family's old Sony finally needed to be replaced and, since it had been so reliable for years, I knew that I wanted to get another Sony. This one was in "Like New" condition and it's even better than that. I like that it's compact, sleek, smooth functioning and incredibly simple for even me, Grandma, to set up in no more than 5 minutes. The remote that comes with it works for the TV as well. I'm absolutely thrilled with it! I will say, however, that if you need RCA cords longer than 2' you should order those separately, as I did. For a budget DVD player, i've got no complaints with its ability to play DVD's and CD's. Cords hook up well, picture is good, remote works well. It's a bit slow loading and opening, etc. but for the price it's going to do what you want it to do.

Setup took only a couple of minutes—plug in the power, connect the included AV cable, and it was ready to go. Playback has been smooth and consistent across a mix of older discs and some newer DVDs I tried.
