bought this Craig Compact DVD player because I found a box of DVDs in my attic and my modern TV doesn't have a slot for them. I tried to feed a Finding Nemo DVD into my HDMI port, but it didn't work. This amazing piece of technology, however, did! Pros: Ultra-lightweight: It weighs less than my TV remote. I can probably use it as a coaster when I’m not watching The Matrix. Nostalgia Factor: The loud, angry whirring noise it makes when it loads a disc reminds me of 2003. It's like a tiny, aggressive robot is in my living room. The Remote: It has buttons for things I don't understand, like "Zoom" and "Slow," which is great for analyzing movies frame-by-frame. Compatibility: Plays my burned CD-R from 2005 labelled "BEST MIX 4 EVER". Cons: It does not stream Netflix. The "progressive scan" feature mostly means it slowly progresses to scanning the disc, then pauses, then makes a weird noise, then finally plays the movie. If you are trying to relive the era of having to get up to turn a disc over, this is the machine for you. It’s small, it’s cheap, and it’s gloriously outdated. 5 stars, would recommend for a cozy, analog movie night. ... show more

Nice little amplifier.

Great sound, compact size, good value. Plenty of power, at 1/4 volume it fills my barn when playing music from a SD card. Over half volume it starts to distort, but I never need to go over 1/4 volume. A balance control would be nice. If one is there I couldn't find it in the menu or manual.

My wife & I are worship leaders at our "little" church; our 5 disc CD player has been threatening to bite the dust in recent weeks; after it refused the play a CD (after it had played it completely!), I decided to get something with decent reviews and that had its own volume control. This unit fits the bill for the most part, best thing is the price. Yes, as some say, it's a bit clunky sounding plus it auto shuts off a bit too quick for us, but it will do!! (it won't be used for DVD playback, at least we don't plan on doing so) ... show more

Made through 6 DVD's then bricked

First off this is a review for the item I received only. I realized I may have gotten a defective one so I've also written a summary assuming I didn't have issues. On the 3rd DVD viewed opening/closing the tray started making a strained grinding sound. When trying to eject the 6th DVD viewed the sound worsened and it powered off. Apparently the tray encountered too much resistance which caused the unit to power off. And of course the first thing that happens when you power the unit on is it cycles the tray, which leads to instant power off. I would give this unit a zero star if possible. Ripped it open to get my DVD back and threw this in the trash. Now assuming the unit continued to work as it did for the first 2 DVD's I watched I would give it 4 stars. It was quiet, easy to set up, and compact. The remote has an impressive multitude of functions including an internal volume (for the DVD player, not the TV which is really nice). On the flip side there are so many buttons on a small remote that they are small and the printing is tiny. Probably no issue if you still have young eyes. The one issue that cost it a star is the lack of physical buttons on the player itself. Without the remote you can only power the unit off/on and eject the tray. In other words if you lose the remote or it breaks this unit is worthless. ... show more

Just what I wanted.

I have a "nostalgia" setup with an older TV, and a VCR/DVD combo. I accidentally broke the DVD player on it. I wanted to replace it with something cheaper with no frills, and with RCA output jacks. And that delivers. It also has the older HD component outputs if you want to run it to your HDtv that still has those inputs. But this player works as it should. It is small but mighty. very much getting what you're paying for. it works well enough, but the picture quality and video size are pretty crappy. watched a movie and it looked more like it was from a shady website than an official dvd. the volume only goes up to 15 and ive only been able to get the tv volume to make it louder sometimes. doesnt do bluetooth despite being made in 2024 (maybe this was common sense but i sort of assumed that most if not all dvd players also did bluetooth at this point in time?) also the remote is on the same frequency that all of the little string light remotes are on so when i try and navigate a disc menu my lights start strobing. i know ive talked about a lot of the downsides, but my point is that it works. it does what it says and i can watch my dvds. ... show more

It's working so far

Basically bought this so my 5 year old granddaughter could watch her movies when she slept over. Some of the reviews said it broke after a couple times of usage. I haven't had that issue. The only thing I don't care for is the pause button on the remote. It doesn't stay paused for real long. When we come back after a break, you have to start over and fast forward to the 'paused' spot.
