bought this Craig Compact DVD player because I found a box of DVDs in my attic and my modern TV doesn't have a slot for them. I tried to feed a Finding Nemo DVD into my HDMI port, but it didn't work. This amazing piece of technology, however, did! Pros: Ultra-lightweight: It weighs less than my TV remote. I can probably use it as a coaster when I’m not watching The Matrix. Nostalgia Factor: The loud, angry whirring noise it makes when it loads a disc reminds me of 2003. It's like a tiny, aggressive robot is in my living room. The Remote: It has buttons for things I don't understand, like "Zoom" and "Slow," which is great for analyzing movies frame-by-frame. Compatibility: Plays my burned CD-R from 2005 labelled "BEST MIX 4 EVER". Cons: It does not stream Netflix. The "progressive scan" feature mostly means it slowly progresses to scanning the disc, then pauses, then makes a weird noise, then finally plays the movie. If you are trying to relive the era of having to get up to turn a disc over, this is the machine for you. It’s small, it’s cheap, and it’s gloriously outdated. 5 stars, would recommend for a cozy, analog movie night. ... show more

First- for the money this DVD player is definitely worth buying. It's compact, quiet and easy to use. I had no issues with any of the DVD's I used- some of them were quite scratched but still played perfectly. The DVD player comes with RCA cables, a remote *and* batteries for the remote. The only issue I have with it is a lack of buttons on the actual DVD player. The only 2 buttons are on/off and disc eject. It would be nice to have a play button on it as well in case the batteries in the remote die or the remote is lost/destroyed- at which time the DVD player would be unusable. ... show more

First off this is a review for the item I received only. I realized I may have gotten a defective one so I've also written a summary assuming I didn't have issues. On the 3rd DVD viewed opening/closing the tray started making a strained grinding sound. When trying to eject the 6th DVD viewed the sound worsened and it powered off. Apparently the tray encountered too much resistance which caused the unit to power off. And of course the first thing that happens when you power the unit on is it cycles the tray, which leads to instant power off. I would give this unit a zero star if possible. Ripped it open to get my DVD back and threw this in the trash. Now assuming the unit continued to work as it did for the first 2 DVD's I watched I would give it 4 stars. It was quiet, easy to set up, and compact. The remote has an impressive multitude of functions including an internal volume (for the DVD player, not the TV which is really nice). On the flip side there are so many buttons on a small remote that they are small and the printing is tiny. Probably no issue if you still have young eyes. The one issue that cost it a star is the lack of physical buttons on the player itself. Without the remote you can only power the unit off/on and eject the tray. In other words if you lose the remote or it breaks this unit is worthless. ... show more

Great sound, compact size, good value. Plenty of power, at 1/4 volume it fills my barn when playing music from a SD card. Over half volume it starts to distort, but I never need to go over 1/4 volume. A balance control would be nice. If one is there I couldn't find it in the menu or manual.

Purchased two of these in the course of five months assuming the issue with the first was a fluke. It wasn’t . The second one, less than a few Months old, died in the same way. I didn’t want to spend a lot because I wanted to be ok with replacing it if I needed to. I just can’t believe how quickly it happens ... show more

Came in good condition, box containing dvd player properly wrapped the last for a while and I don't have cable or internet all the time lots of dvd play unit lasted for a while. CDs play well on it too.😁👍
