  • Amazing Chair--once you get it adjusted--and used to it.
First of all, this chair takes several days to get used to and to setup all of the adjustments--since pretty much everything is adjustable. I originally purchased the D2A because these chairs are basically the same except the Alpha has adjustable tension on the tilt and also a mesh seat (and costs $100 more). I felt the tension on the D2A recline was a little too tight for me. I felt like I was always fighting to lean back. But I did like the self-tension tilting system for both chairs to move with you as you lean back and forward. I have always locked the tilt on my previous chairs and never leaned back but the Duorest self tension tilting gives support to your back no matter whether you lean forward or back. Now I like the good feeling of leaning back while I'm talking on the phone or waiting for my computer to do something--including using the headrest--which I have never used before. When you first sit in this chair your back will automatically go, Ahhhh, this feels SO good!. But after the end of the 1st day my back was hurting. I found though that this chair just takes some getting used to before it really starts to feel good. I was also very seriously considering spending big bucks to buy the Herman Miller since I felt ready to graduate from the $350 chair from Office Depot. During my search I ran across the Duorest which looked like I might be getting a chair just as good but for a lot less. I haven't tried the Herman MIller so I can't compare but I saw reviews from others who had who said this chair was ever bit as good if not better. One of the downsides of the Duorest (both D2A and Alpha) is that the shaft is built for a taller person. I am 5'6" so I needed a shorter shaft to lower the chair enough for me--which worked great once I did. I also found the D2A seat to be uncomfortably firm so I would recommend a chair cushion for that chair. My husband ended up taking my D2A and using a seat cushion and loves it--he is 6' tall. I prefer the mesh seat of the Alpha and the ability to adjust the recline tension. Also the Alpha mechanics of the knobs are a lot more modern and less "clunky" than the D2A but once you have everything setup, that doesn't really matter. Now that I have my chair all adjusted, it's definitely the MOST comfortable chair I have ever owned. As others have mentioned, the wheels do not glide as easily as easily as other chairs so you feel you're having to fight it a little if you need to move--not much of a big deal for me. I found the customer service of this company to be EXCELLENT! As I was getting used to the chair, I talked with them on numerous occasions and they always offered helpful feedback and suggestions. For me, one thing that would have been helpful is to have some kind of guide as to where to start adjusting all the different features. There are so many adjustments it is hard to know where to begin. I just kind of started in the middle and adjusted each feature as something started to "bug" me. I made notes as I made changes so that I would know what I had already tried. The first day was hard for me anyway so I wouldn't recommend spending much time to adjust until day 2 or later. The other thing I like is being able to lower the arms (on both chairs) so I don't have to use them and they are out of my way. But I also have the option to raise them and use them if I want to. ... show more

  • Best Office Chair Out There
Color: Black
I never believe in writing reviews because I feel that nothing has ever deserved that type of follow up action, after all, the company already took my money. This is not the case here, this chair is a game changer and I do feel the need to tell everyone how good it is. Hopefully, this review will make it less risky to buy this chair. I was stressed out looking for a good chair and decided to take a risk in buying the DuoRest Alpha Chair and boy did it pay off. The dual back rest provides so much comfortability and support in any seating position. Lean left, lean right, lean back, lean forward, either way, this chair feels good at all angles. I have always dreamt of having a chair that hugs my back perfectly and with this chair I am able to experience that. The seat also provides perfect comfortability, support and breathability. There are plenty of adjustments with the seat that you can make to make it feel just right. As for the cons of this chair goes, the arm rests are a little awkward but they get the job done. The arm rests are too small and they don't go far enough out towards my desk and they don't go as high as you would probably like. The other slight issue is the head rest. Its a little awkward as well, but it also gets the job done. It can be adjusted in height and angle but what cannot be adjusted is the how far back or forward you want it. To me it kind of sticks out to far forward which is why I don't feel its as comfortable as it could be. With that being said, it is capable of providing head, neck or upper back support depending on how you adjust it. Chair set up was extremely easy and the directions are easy to follow. Any tools that you need are included in the box which made it even easier. Overall, I feel that this is as good as it gets at this price range. Maybe there are chairs that provide better arm and head rests, but nothing will beat this comfortable back support. This chair is revolutionary in that sense and for me is what makes it worth it. I work an 8-5 and I do not feel any back pain throughout my whole shift Monday through Friday. Side Note: I am a 6' 2" tall male. This chair would probably be more ideal for tall people but I'm sure shorter people also would sit comfortably in it, with the right adjustments. This chair also might not be the best option for a big person as the seat is not really wide. ... show more

  • VERY Flawed design. DON'T buy
Color: Black
I've had this chair for a while now, at least a few months i believe. I use it every day for work and gaming so I'm using it at least 8 hrs a day, for a chair as expensive as this one I was expecting ALOT better. At first I thgouht i had finally found what I wanted in a deskchair but after using it for months now I have seen MANY flaws in the design. The adjustability is what sold me on this chair but its totally pointless because all the knobs come loose as they have nothing to grab onto! They constantly move and slide! So just when I think I finally get it in the right position I'll be mid-meeting and the whole back of the chair slides down!! Then I have to make yet another adjustment that will only hold for a couple hours. I cant afford to get another chair to replace this so I've had to come up with my own solutions like shoving carboard pieces into the slots so that the knobs will grip into place for longer. Or using duct tape to hold up the knob from sliding down (see photo). But i should NOT have to make these kind of silly modifications on a $600 chair!! It's just ridiculous, this chair is infuriating. And I am not a large man I am 5'9 195 lbs so I know its a flawed design not a user issue, I'm just very dissapointed and I hope this company will make the proper changes to the design so that other people don't have to deal with what I have. It could have been something as simple as them designing it with holes or grooves for the knobs to sit into so that they cant move, I dont know why they didnt do that.. laziness? being cheap? But until some kind of improvement is made I wouldn't reccomend anyone buy this waste of money. ... show more
