It looks decent and isn't excessively huge, fits alongside the counter. Unlike the step can I previously had there, the things that open the lids are internal, so it's not going to mark up the wall, as you can see from my photo I will only have to touch up the paint there once. I appreciate that the trash side is a full-size kitchen can, and it fits any normal trash bag (such as the "basics" ones we get in bulk from this site). The magnetic placards stick both to the sides as pictured by the manufacturer and to the lids, like I show in my pictures, though the magnets aren't particularly strong- a determined child can easily launch them like a catapult while tossing things in. I’ve purchased many trash cans over the years, this one looks beautiful and has the functionality I needed. Recycling and trash in one. Pedals to open, and a lid that flips and stays open if needed. The plastic cans inside are removable and the regular bags that don’t cost a fortune fit securely and stay put. I wouldn’t say it’s super pet-proof, if you have clever hound that loves food, they might see how the pedal works and put a paw on it. I fixed that with a correction and placed something heavy on top so she couldn’t open for a few days and she stopped trying. Trash cans with pedals live a short life with us, so far this one is doing well, and randomly when people come over they complement the trash can in my kitchen. LOL ... show more

I looked freaking everywhere until I found this thing. Quit looking for another trash can, buy this! I wanted a trash can that used regular 15 gallon bags. This one does, and that's amazing, so I don't have to buy specialty bags. I also wanted a full size trash can because I didnt want to have to sacrifice garbage space just to be able to also have recycling. The recycling container is also a great size and fits plenty of cans, bottles, boxes, etc. I love that these both have an internal removable container! That makes it so easy to take the garbage out, dump the recycling, etc. Is this an absolute crazy amount of money to spend on a garbage can? I surely think so.... but you use it forever, so you might as well buy something built as quality as this, and designed as well as this, since you use it every day. I cant believe I have reached an age where I actually want to leave a review for a trash can I purchased but here we are. Adulting is stupid. Lol. I was searching for a new trash can for months. I wanted one that was double units in one but struggled to find one that was reasonably priced and at least a 13 gallon capacity for trash. I recycle but its not as much as I should or could...the size of the smaller trash can is perfect for how my family recycles each week. I love the ease of lifting the inserts out. That feature came in very handy when I needed to clean up a mess in my living room. Also, I can see this being beneficial when you have a bag that is very heavy and you're worried it might break carrying it out to the big trash can. A kitchen trash can is one of those products that we think very little of when we have it, but we realize we have incredibly high expectations of when going out to purchase one. We recently redecorated our kitchen to all white with some stainless steel and this was, without question, the best option that met our needs. PROS: - Smooth and silent lid closure - Large RECTANGULAR trash bin for standard 13 gal bags - Recycling can for getting rid of all those boxes that used to chill by the back door (I break them down now) - Less guilt for throwing away recyclables because I don't want to add to the old "door pile" - Easy enough for my autistic son to use (he lifts the lid from the finger groove because the step pressure is a bit high on the main bin) - Beautiful aesthetics - Removable sticker logo - Rigid inner bins that sit flush within the structure of the overall receptacle CONS: - This is the reason it's only 4-star: the lid slightly crosses the rear plane of the can when opened, thus you will grind your cabinets if you don't put a minimum ¼" spacer (or baseboard) behind the can. - As mentioned, the step pressure is higher than we were used to with our old SimpleHuman bin - FINGER. PRINTS. ON. THE. LID. My autistic son will perpetually ensure that it's always covered in fingerprints. Unlikely to be an issue of any kind for most households. - Very high step pressure on main bin + incredibly low step pressure on recycle bin = SLAMMING that lid up against the counter when opening the recycling. It may get dented if you're 260 lbs like me and just lean the ball of your foot into it. Overall, I have been very pleased with this can for the near month that I've had it. ... show more

I love everything about this trash can. Apart from this one I could not find another combination garbage and recycling bin that had a full-size trash can and small recycling bin. The step mechanism is smooth, it is easy to clean with a little dish soap and it looks great. One feature that isn’t really advertised is that it has charcoal filter slots under the lid. I bought a roll of charcoal filter sheet and just cut off of it when they start to stink and it works great. Additionally, when I bought this product, I wondered if the handles were open to the outside however they are not and are made of a single piece of plastic which will help to keep fruit flies out, although the lid is not completely airtight to the bag, it is very good. ... show more

When reading into it, this bin seemed perfect so I ordered it right away. When it first arrived, the metal lever that was supposed to attach to the foot pedal for the recycling bin was completely missing, which left the pedal completely detached and unusable upon unboxing. After reaching out, the vendor was able to send me a replacement. However, the replacement they sent had had an extremely loose foot pedal for the recycling bin, which seemed prone to detaching. I tried to reach out again but there seemed to be communication issues - seems like you need to reach the vendor directly, not Amazon. At any rate, after successfully reaching out to the vendor, they sent me poor visual instructions that didn't help (they first sent me to a dead TikTok or Instagram link?!). Completely frustrated, I took a look into it and concluded the lever attached to the recycling bin needs to run completely through the entire length of the pedal from the bottom - this one had it PARTIALLY run through, which led to its looseness. This required me to take my bins out and push the lever through from the inside. The bin SHOULD be good now but it took a replacement, poor customer service, and finally myself to just figure it out. All in all, for the price, my experience with this has been very disappointing. ... show more
