  • Was Great Until It Stopped Working
Size: L10s Ultra
Loved this robot vac for the first 4 months, but then the vacuum stopped working (no suction motor sound) and the robot would leave curled piles of debris over all the rugs. Thoroughly cleaned unit, replaced air filter with brand new one, but nothing worked. Contacted the company and went through their many steps of troubleshooting, and eventually they agreed there was an issue and requested me to send it to their service center in Plano, Texas, using UPS. I sent it off and UPS indicated it was delivered on 5/16. For over 3 weeks every few days I was in communication with Dreame through email asking them why their repair status website was not showing receipt of the unit for repair when UPS showed it as being delivered. On June 7th I got an email from Dreame indicating they had found the unit and would complete the repair in 5 - 7 working days. After waiting 8 business days with no additional repair status update on their website nor through email, I again emailed them to ask why there had been no status update. They replied back informing me that “Due to the relocation of the repair center, the repair has been temporarily suspended. It is anticipated that the repair will commence in about two weeks.” I replied letting them know that this was unacceptable as they had my unit for well over a month and I had been without the use of it for 2 months, and that I was requesting a full refund. The rep then replied how sorry they are and that he would send my request to the relevant department. That was 3 days ago and no reply from them so far. This whole inability to repair mess is really a shame as I loved the robot vac when it worked. I’m guessing they have become overwhelmed with the number of repairs and have fallen far behind, but they should not make their customers suffer for their lack of ability to repair their units. That’s how a new company tanks its reputation. Dreame should either send out a new unit or refund the purchase price if they are unable to repair warrantable items in a timely manner. They owe it to the customers who took a chance on them. One last thing,,,When I went to add a comment regarding their most recent notification of temporarily suspending the repair to my review of the L10s Ultra Robot Vacuum on Dreame’s website today, I was not able to locate it, nor many of the other 1 star reviews I had previously liked. The review count at the top of the page shows 62 reviews, but in the review section towards the bottom of the page, they indicate only 16. Perhaps their ratings system is as broken as their repair system. Perhaps. ***UPDATE*** Received an email yesterday from Dreame saying that since it has been over 30 days since I purchased the unit, they will not provide a refund. This is not a company that cares about serving their customers. I regret giving them my business, but have certainly learned my lesson. ***UPDATE 2*** The day after this review I posted on Amazon went up, a new Dream Customer Support Representative named Andy emailed me to say “I am sorry for the inconvenience of your unpleasant experience on Amazon” and included a link to my review directly below. He went on to say he was sorry for the delay in repairing my vacuum and had spoken to a manager who,had agreed with his proposal that they send me a replacement unit instead of repairing mine. He then asked if that was okay for me. I replied asking if this would be a new unit because I did not want a refurbished nor a used unit sent, to which he replied: “We will check all our devices undergo a thorough inspection before shipment to ensure they meet our quality standards. Please rest assured that I will send you a new product.” I also asked for confirmation that this replacement would have the full new product warranty included, to which he replied “If the machine has a non-human performance failure during use the replacement will have a year warranty, hope you can understand.” I took that to mean that it would have the full new product warranty. I received the replacement unit yesterday. When I came to unbox it this morning, after opening the outer shipping box, I noticed that the inner product box appears to have been previously opened and taped over as there is white paper showing where the black paper was removed as it would have stuck to the tape used to seal the box. There was also a piece of cardboard or dried plant matter stuck under the tape on one side. At that point I decided to not open the inner product box. Please see attached pictures which clearly show the box as having previously been opened and taped over again. So my major disappointment with this company continues. I have emailed Andy explaining what I found when attempting to open the obviously not new unit I was sent; and have asked for them to send out a truly new replacement and arrange to pick up the used one they tried to pawn off on me. ***UPDATE 3*** After going back and forth with the Dreame CSR through email regarding the new robot vacuum they sent appearing to have been opened, they kept insisting that it was a new unit and requested that I open it and if I had any reservations still that it was used they would then accept a return. So I opened the box and inspected the contents and it did indeed appear to be unused as I could find no signs of that it had previously been in operation. The first few weeks of usage were rough as the unit constantly got stuck somewhere the previous unit had not and it failed to complete a scheduled cleaning. So I again contacted Dreame through email and informed them of the situation. They asked me to check a few things, reset the unit, and perform a sensor cleaning. After performing these steps the unit was finally able to complete a scheduled cleaning and has been working as expected up until 2 nights ago when it again got stuck somewhere it hadn’t before. I’ve again cleaned the sensors and will see if it is again able to complete the cleaning scheduled for tonight. ... show more

  • Unusable after less than 2 1/2 years
Size: L10s Ultra
FINAL EDIT: After less than 2 1/2 years, and several times we had to send it in to be repaired, it has finally broken for good. The body of it cracked as we were trying to get the roller out. Before that, the mopping function had stopped working. We’re throwing in the towel and buying a different brand. Customer service was good. Maybe newer versions are better. But this was a huge, expensive mistake. For how much we paid, we should have gotten much more use out of it. We’re pretty disappointed. EDIT: updating my review after troubleshooting and using it for a few weeks. First, I want to address my previous issue of the vacuum leaving behind a lot of debris. It turned out that it was clogged with dog hair. We have 3 Golden Retrievers that shed like yetis, so it’s not surprising that it got clogged. I’m not faulting the vacuum on that. What is frustrating is that there was no sensor/notification/warning that there was a problem. As it has an auto emptying feature, it didn’t occur to me that there may be something clogging it, and especially that it wouldn’t let me know. I mean my previous Roomba notified us if you looked at it funny, so I erroneously assumed this one would notify us, too. But it doesn’t. I just keeps going, and finishes the job without picking up debris. So now I just check for clogs every day when I empty the waste water and fill the water tank. Hopefully this solves the problem. When it isn’t clogged, it does vacuum pretty well on turbo mode. Detergent. I’d love to be able to add my own detergent in the clean water tank, but the instructions say that it will degrade the tank, so not to do it. I’m not sure what material the tank is made out of that prevents you from using detergent, but this feels like a way to keep you buying their detergent that comes in a cartridge and is added directly to the water in the vacuum, not into the holding tank. This detergent has no smell whatsoever, and I’d love it if my house had that freshly-mopped smell every day. In addition, we are reactive to a lot of detergents, so we don’t love being forced into using proprietary products. We don’t seem to be reacting to this one, which is great, but I’d still much rather use my own than theirs. Plus, at the time of writing this review, it’s $40 for a 3-pack of replacement detergent cartridges. That’s insanely expensive, and wasteful. I’m going to try to find a way to refill the existing cartridge when it runs out. Otherwise, we’ll just run it without detergent. Mopping. This does a decent job of doing a quick daily mop. It gets up footprints and light gunk very well. One of my dogs brought in a clump of muddy dirt, and I decided to see how long it would take the vacuum to get rid of the clump. It was slightly too big to be vacuumed up, so it turned into more mud when the mop pads went over it. That smeared the mud. I left it there to see if it would be cleaned up the next day. It took about 4 days for all of the mud to be cleaned. So this isn’t a heavy duty cleaner/scrubber, but for an every day cleaner, it does work well. Accessories: you can check the status of the accessories (mop pads, side brush, brush roller, etc) in the app. They base the life of the accessories on hours used. After 3 weeks of daily mopping, my mop pads are at 51%. You can get an 8 pack of replacements for $21 currently on Amazon. This seems like the part that will have to be replaced the most often, and the replacement cost doesn’t seem to be outrageous. Function: my Roomba (previous to this) bounced from room to room like a drunken pinball machine. It would go over the same location several times and miss some entirely. However, this is where this vacuum absolutely shines. It goes over the area the number of times you program it to (1, 2, or 3), and doesn’t return. This is a huge benefit, as the more time it spends on the same area, the more it eats up the battery. I love that it is so efficient and good at mapping. Definitely outshines the competition in that area. Battery: it has good battery life. It can do my entire main floor on basically one battery charge. If it does have to be recharged, it goes back to the dock automatically and comes right back to where it left off when it’s charged again. Going from carpet to hard floor: this is another area where it shines. It easily recognizes the difference between types of flooring and adjusts quickly. We haven’t had any problem with wet carpet or rugs. Avoiding obstacles: does great at this too. Easily navigates around my dogs or whatever random things are in the way. Cleaning edges: it does… ok. Leaves behind some debris if it’s close to the wall, even on the setting that’s supposed to get close to the wall. Customer service: A+. They are quick to respond to issues and work hard to solve problems. I emailed them about an issue, and they sent troubleshooting ideas and a spare part, and then called to follow up to see if the problem had been resolved. They provide top notch customer service. App: it took a minute, but I think we got it figured out. It’s very easy to enter in different rooms, and schedule different cleaning on different days. Right now I think we have it scheduled to do a quick vacuum/mop 6 days a week, and a deeper clean one day a week. I think. We’re still figuring it out, but I’m pretty sure that’s what it’s doing. Overall: so far, after 3 weeks of daily use, we’re pleased with the purchase. The pros outweigh the cons. We do a manual deep clean once a week to get in the corners and under the cabinets and really scrub the floors, and combined with the daily cleaning, our floors look great. I can’t vacuum and mop frequently because of back issues, so this has been a lifesaver. I’m amending my previous review to add a star. I’m leaving it at 4 stars because of the issue with it not notifying if it’s clogged, and also the requirement that you buy their detergent instead of being able to add it to the clean water tank or refill their own dispenser. But overall, we’re pleased. I would purchase this again. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I want to love this, but so far I’m pretty disappointed. It mapped my house quickly and is efficient in its path through the house. It was very easy to set up and seems like it should work well; however, the floors just don’t get clean. After vacuuming, it leaves behind a ton of debris. I’m going to try to troubleshoot, and will update my review if there is any change. ... show more
