I researched robotic vacuum and mop combos for more than a month and took notes on each from several reviewers and found that the x40 beat the other flagships for what I needed in a combo robot. I’ve had the Dreame X40 for about five weeks now and have put it through all of the tests. It only took 10 or 15 minutes to map the house. The map was accurate. I only had to make a couple of adjustments. I set the app for it to clean the way I wanted it to, but have found that setting it on clean genius and letting it figure out the best way to clean my floors is my best option. It knows how to clean and senses when areas need extra cleaning. It is hands-down the best robotic vacuum and mop that I’ve ever used amd I’ve used other models for about ten years. Is it perfect ,no, but it’s close. I would say more than 95% of the time it does what it’s supposed to do. I set it and forget it. Occasionally, I have to check on it because the mop pads came off which is easy enough to remedy by setting a no go zone. I don’t even mind that because it does such a great job vacuuming and mopping my floors. The suction is good at 12,000 and even at its highest setting, is still very quiet. Most of the time, I forget it’s cleaning when I’m in another room and don’t hear it. I love how it cleans its mop pads as needed and remops areas or rooms, if needed. My wood floors, because of the buffing pads, have a beautiful shine. It cleans my ceramic floors without streaking like other robots have done in the past. It’s very important to keep the sensors clean so that it runs like it’s supposed to. In my case that’s about once every two weeks with it set to clean on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. Would I recommend this robot to friends and family? You bet I would and have. My floors have never been cleaner. They pass the barefoot test!

We decided to replace our old robot vacuum from Eufy this year to upgrade and get a model that had mapping and mopping. I cannot tell you how impressed I am with this device! It’s attractive as far as robot vacuum and docks go, with nice bronze colored accents that make it seem better than just a hulking piece of plastic. From what I can tell, the quality of the build is terrific as everything I have opened or removed has always easily clicked satisfyingly back into place. The device itself is the same size and looks like just about every other robot vacuum that I’ve seen before except for the lidar sensor on the top. This sensor is great when it’s being used, but it sticks up and doesn’t flex, which makes it awkward to flip the vacuum upside down to replace the brush or side sweeper or stuff like that. I make a circle with a bath towel to hold around the edges and it works just fine. Mapping was shockingly accurate and nailed the layout of our home, with even about 90% accuracy on automatically naming those rooms as well. The mapping process was pretty quick and each time it runs in cleaning mode it will update the map with any changes that it detects. We were able to easily manually go and change a few things (change the autodetected flooring types from carpeted rooms to hardwood with rugs on the floor) but it was actually fun to do, so that was hardly a chore. We have moved the dock twice since buying it and it just figured it out, which was nice. I’m very impressed with the mopping overall - our dog door leads directly from the living room to the yard so on wet days we’re always complaining about dog prints constantly being present. Now, using a cleaning schedule set at 2:00 a.m. and only for a specific zone, I can wake up to clean floors everyday. For the whole house cleaning we have about 1000 sqft of wood that it mops when it runs and probably need to change the dirty water every other cycle when we’re using the built in “Clean Genius” mode that automatically decides everything (meaning, every other day if we mop every day). Clean water gets refilled after every session, but it’s probably not quite necessary. The device frequently returns to the dock throughout a normal whole-house cleaning session to rinse the mop pads and empty the dust bin, but the frequency of those returns is customizable within the well made app. The WiFi works well with the device. We use it with the Google Assistant speakers throughout our house which is convenient to pause and resume a cleaning if you need to make a call and don’t want the noise for a moment. Overall I’m very happy. I wish that it didn’t use disposable vacuum bags and instead had a large bin to empty, but there are plenty of cheap bags from off-brands that are easier to stomach than the full price ones from Dreame. The device also comes with a mopping solution that it slowly dispenses each time the mop is used, but I’ve also found that it cleans just fine with the ‘warm water’ setting when I’m looking for a quick clean that is ‘good enough’.

I wish I had more time with it before making a decision to return. Sometimes it's the best thing I've ever had as a home appliance, others, it just bangs its head against the wall for hours. Battery life needs to be amped up. I've got a 3000 sq. foot house and using this on all but two large bedrooms. It takes over 300 minutes to do the house. I switched out the original brush for the tricut, because the original brush was not turning a bit with hair wrapped around it. The chamber was packed with dirt and little piles of what looks like furballs around the house. Then again, when it works, I love it more than anything in the world. I'm going to have a stroke over this dan thing. (Look around for price differences. They're on here for less.) Customer service isn't the best. This is, hopefully, my last update. The first one had to go back. It was like if it could Break Bad, it did. The Dreame people were really good about sending out a replacement. Does it have hiccups now and then? Yes, it's a damned robot guessing (but guessing well) how to navigate your home and how to clean each space. It gets better with time. Not going to lie, it takes a good 12 hours to run, but I have it on Clean Genius with the mop pads off and it cleans carpets, goes back and gets pads and mops. The only thing I would wish for, is an extra battery that could be charging while the first one is working because that's what takes up a good part of the time—recharging during cleaning. My floors look great and it's cut down a lot on airborne dust, thus, less dusting, too. He's my little humming-along buddy while I go about my day. If it continues in this vein, it's a definite keeper and I'm pretty damn happy with it.

Love it! I've had my Dreame for 18 months now and I just love it! - My husband got it for me for as a gift. He (we) put a lot of work into researching the various brands. - The initial set up takes a little time mapping out your house, but the app is pretty intuitive figuring out hard surfaces from carpet etc. Take the time to put up "walls" and "no-go" zones, and to figure out how to make the app work for you. There are a few hidden features that take a while to discover and use. - Its really great at light vacuuming if you do it often. The vacuum cup does not hold much, so if you have a pet (I have two) you either have to do a deep vacuum every so often, or use the vacuum feature every other day. -Get a replacement filter so you can frequently swap the filter out, rinse the dirty one and alternate filters while it dries. -I do a lot of "selective room cleaning" which I like - emphasis on dirty areas w/o cleaning the whole house every time. -The mopping feature is good for not so dirty areas. I mop my bathrooms and kitchen every other day. Every so often I have to manually mop. The little robot has an 80cc water tank to keep the pads wet, and you can set it up to go back to the dock frequently to rinse ( which I do). I am always amazed at how dirty the used water tank is when I empty it. - The reason for this review after 18 months is because I just had an issue with a cracked wheel housing. I'm not sure what happened...dropped? IDK. But when I contacted customer service, they were AMAZING! Covered under warranty. No questions asked. Every e mail received a response w/in 24 hours. I had to describe the problem, upload a photo & invoice. They emailed a paid shipping label. I Packed it up & sent it off (was difficult to part with it :). I tracked where it went, they repaired it in 1 day, and I had back less than 1 week after sending it off.

The reason this robot gets a one star rating is because it struggles to climb its own docking station. It didn't even really try, would just reverse until it got to that tiny little lip, give a half hearted attempt to climb it, give up and just turn off. For a robot this expensive I expected more out of Dreame. All it would take is for the robot to give power to the wheels for more the a 1/10th of a second before giving up. Update: After a few runs the robot seemed to have out how to climb onto its own doc. That is no longer an issue. However it developed two other issues, one being it would never end a cleaning run. It would get stuck cleaning the same room over and over and over until you manually stopped it. The other issue is it would keep trying to mop carpets. It marked all my floors as hard surfaces in the app even though during the vacuuming runs the robot would do its carpet boos plus pick up the side brush so it's obviously detecting the carpet. Bet even after manually setting carpets in the app the map will still default everything to hard floors. I've been talking to Dreame about these issue and they love to play the game of go through all these troubleshooting steps and give proof of the issue, oh now we'll create a ticket for this department so you can go through the same steps again. I've talked to three separate people at Dreame so far, each have confirmed my issue and now I've been "elevated" to a fourth person. Just let me return this robot already. Dreame as a company is really starting to go downhill and I would stay away from them at this point. Update: I haven't been using this much the past year but I pulled it out of storage and let it run a few times. This time it seems to be working without any issues, able to complete cleaning runs, and no longer tries to mop my carpets. I'm guessing software patches have fixed it.

For over two decades, I have owned robotic vacuum cleaners. It of course started with the Roomba which at the time was more of a novelty than anything truly useful but after my first one, I got another and another until they were pretty good. They still had issues but they were going the right direction. Over a decade ago, I gave up on Roomba as they were really expensive and lacked any kind of modern features such as mapping which I was able to find in much less expensive units. Since then, I have owned a few others by different manufacturers. They were better but none of them was perfect until now. The X40 is perfect. Everything that had been missing in my cleaning needs is now finally found in the X40. Most importantly of all is that it doesn't just have the features that I want, it works flawlessly. At first it's almost overwhelming how much it can do and all of the available options for running it the way that I want to. But in no time at all, I have it set up to work exactly as I want it to. It goes where I want it to, it stays out of where I don't want it and the AI keeps everything working perfectly when things change daily in my house. I have some deep pile area rugs that some of my previous robot vacuums could not deal with. Either they couldn't get up onto the rugs or they couldn't move once they were on them. Some of the other vacuums would see the dark patterns as "cliffs" and they would refuse to move over the patterns with the only solution being to tape over the sensor. The X40 handles my area rugs like it was designed to do so. I have had none of these problems with the X40. I did notice that the height of one of my rugs was being seen by the AI as something in front of my rug and it attempted to go around but that was easily managed by using the map editing. I thought that all I would have to do was to tell it that it was a rug but the actual solution was to mark the edge of the rug as a "curtain" which tells the robot to ignore the visual obstruction and push on through. This worked perfectly and no other robot was able to get onto this area rug. Fantastic! Now all of my rugs are being vacuumed. Which brings me to the suction of the X40, it cleans my deep pile rugs all the way through. I have to admit, I am amazed. I have chosen to leave the mops behind when I do my rugs as a precaution and I am thrilled that I have that option. As far as mopping goes, this thing is absolutely perfect. It gets under my kitchen cabinets where other vacuums could not because of the overhang of the cabinets. I really love the X40 and I am so happy to finally find a robot vacuum that does everything!

This is my honest review after 9 months with the Dreame X40. When I first bought it, I thought it was the best thing ever. I’ve owned other top brands like iRobot and Roborock, and this one actually beat them right out of the box. The suction, the mopping, the mapping, everything felt way ahead of the competition. I was so impressed I bragged about it and even convinced friends and family to spend over a thousand dollars on one. Now 9 months later, I regret it. The mop base constantly floods instead of cleaning the pads and leaves dirty water puddles on the floor. The dust bin clogs way too easily, even when it’s not picking up much. Every time I try to mop, the pads don’t detach from the base like they are supposed to and I end up having to manually put them on the robot. That is the exact opposite of the convenience I bought this for. On top of that, the robot constantly complains that it is stuck or that something is in the rotors when nothing is there. It interrupts cleaning runs over and over for no reason. It feels like babysitting an expensive machine that was supposed to save me time. What really frustrates me is how good it was in the beginning. I told people this was the best vacuum on the market. I hyped it up and pushed others to get one. Now not only am I disappointed but the people I convinced to buy one are having the same problems. It is honestly embarrassing to recommend something that falls apart this quickly. Dreame needs to make this right. Whether it is a proper fix, an update, or at least admitting that these issues exist, they cannot just let people drop this much money on a product that declines so fast. I am giving it 2 stars only because it truly was amazing in the beginning. But the longer I have had it, the worse it has gotten. If you are considering buying one, be careful. It works great for a couple of months and then turns into a headache.

Background: I currently have a large Siberian Masquerade cat (extremely fluffy and consistently sheds its white hair) and also a new mom to a 6 month old baby. I would sweep, mop, and vacuum throughout the day and each night before bed, to try and maintain a relatively clean floor, but it seemed dooming as the floors hardly ever felt truly clean. I did find that the Swiffer Heavy Duty Dry Cloths worked great in collecting dirt and hair on the harwood, but they are designed for 1-time-use, so they can become expensive and wasteful. I also tried using the washable cloth attachments, but found it felt like I was just “evenly distributing” the dirt around, rather than getting a true clean feeling. I also tried multiple vacuum cleaners, and none collected all my cat’s hair. I had resorted to using a small shop vac to be able to suction all the cat hair out of the carpet, but it was extremely time consuming and laboring. I originally purchased the X30 Dreame, to save some extra money. I found it worked exceptionally well, but it would leave some cat hair behind on the carpet and wasn’t able to clean corners and would leave roughly a 2-3 inch gap from the baseboards… so I decided to upgrade to the X40, as all the upgrades seemed to be exactly what I would have recommended for the X30. Product review: The X40 Dreame has been a complete GAME CHANGER! I will set the X40 to “deep clean” each time I leave the house, and I arrive back to SPOTLESS floors, even the cat hair is GONE! Throughout the day I spot clean areas or individual rooms, as needed. I would consider this X40 an investment, but SO worth it. It is so refreshing to have the additional time throughout the day, and the cleanest floors I’ve ever been able to maintain. The SideReach technology on the X40 is worth the extra money in itself, from the X30, in my opinion. The bristle extension cleans those hard to reach areas, and truly makes a difference in the appearance of your floors. The extra suction was also necessary for me, in order to collect ALL the cat hair in the carpet. Some additional upgrades I wasn’t expecting is a better app presentation, although the X30 app does work perfectly fine, the X40 is a cleaner looking app layout. I found the cleaning solution actually smells better too when pouring it in the tank, like fresh laundry, although I cannot smell the solution while it’s cleaning. 10/10 recommend the X40 Dreame, as an excellent investment piece to replace ALL your floor cleaning products!
