  • I don’t understand the negative reviews.
Color: Cherry
Nothing short of amazing. But remember it’s about BTUs with heaters. You are talking 5200 here. A round kerosene heater is 23,800 BTUs. So if you need that level of heat I suggest kerosene over this. This is supplemental heat. Take the chill off. It’s not meant to heat your whole house like a kerosene heater would or your gas furnace. Kerosene also will work when your power goes out in SHTF situations whereas you probably don’t want to waste 1500 watts of generator power on this heater unless you absolutely have to. So this tiny heater at only 1500 watts puts out some serious heat IMO. Park it 15-20 ft from you, set it to 68 on eco with the oscillator on and you’ll be thinking about shorts in half an hour. The thing is amazing IMO. Online sites say this can heat a room anywhere from 400sq ft to 1000 depending on whom you believe. I’m not sure about 1000, but it’s a lot closer to 1000 than 400. If you are going for 1000 have a fan to move that warm air around and don’t think this little box will magically do it for you. A home HVAC system has registers all around for that same reason. Distribute the air! Build quality. Wow. It’s not cheap. I mean it’s particle board and plastic, but it’s quality. Nice wheels on it. Nice display. Nice remote. Even comes with batteries which I never use because I don’t trust batteries included with products, but I am sure they are ok. Humidifier works wonderfully. Not sure about reviews claiming it leaks. Did you read the directions? Put in BOTH O rings??? Remember to use distilled water. I can’t speak to longevity yet, but I have read reviews of these getting very high up in years. I’m impressed. The keys with this unit IMO are: 1. The fan. It blows the heat and gets it out into the room. 2. Oscillation. I’m sure that makes a big difference because it’s spreading the heat around. Bonus if you stop it the fins stay pointed in whatever direction you stopped it at. 3. Eco mode. It stops and starts nicely. That will save you some dough ray me. I was worried about the reviews and if you are too don’t be. IMO it’s a winner, but remember it’s 5200 BTUs. ... show more

  • Reliable, Quiet, and Surprisingly Powerful Heat
Color: Coffee
The DR. Infrared Heater DR-123 Indoor has been an excellent addition for keeping my space warm and comfortable. What impressed me most is how quickly it heats the room without making the air feel dry or stuffy it’s a very natural, even warmth. The unit runs quietly, which makes it perfect for a bedroom or office, and the build quality feels solid and durable. I also appreciate the safety features and the fact that it doesn’t get excessively hot to the touch, which gives peace of mind. It’s energy-efficient, easy to use, and does exactly what it promises. Overall, a dependable heater that delivers consistent performance and comfort. ... show more

  • Works great as a personal heater.
Color: Cherry
It's great if you have a drafty room and need a heater on you. I have arthritis and this helps to cut the chill hitting me. We have a large cathedral style living room from the 70s and during this time of year it's chilly but not cold enough to turn the heater on for. The mornings and evenings we need it when we are hanging out. The unit itself is fine but the only thing that is really annoying is the casters. This thing goes whichever way it wants and it has crashed into my antique table, the fireplace hearth, you name it. The wheels are just squirly. As far as functional, it is definitely that. Careful not to overload an outlet with it though. Did that. This house is new for us and did not know one entire wall was on the same circuit and had this plus another furnace plugged in because the heat went out. Any case, works great and is great but yeah the casters need some work. ... show more

  • Must buy. I put it to the test, please read before buying. Must buy. I put it to the test, please read before buying.

Well you scrolled for a review so here it is, the heater point blank is just really good. I got this heater because of a mistake, buying a bathroom heater that was greatly priced but it didn't produce anywhere NEAR the same heat this heater does. I'll admit when opening the box, it was really small, especially compared to other heaters we have in the house right now, but after a good few cold weeks, size definitally doesn't matter. The humidifier is good. Not really out of the way amazing, not extremely effective, but it works and is there. Somehow this system exists and Dr. Heater thought it was great, and for someone who gets really scratchy and irritable at night when it's uncomfortably hot and dry. Humidity is your best friend. And the fact you don't even need the stock bottle is even better. I have a big smart water bottle back there 😂. The user control is truly present on this heater. Luxury heater for sure. If you Need a humidifier, I'd say keep the one you have and have this one as well if you feel like it doesn't produce enough humidity. All depends on how you feel. Other then that I agree with the Comments, pretty useless other then that, that's why they let you take the thing off 😂😂😂. BTW there are replacement pieces for the humidifier water gasket inside, Dr. Heater cares about you, The humidifier isn't halfed ass, just is not THAT necessary. This thing blows out hot air very well, even in uninsulated areas. When the cold is to much, the oscillation is a amazing feature, seriously amazing, only problem with it is there's a timer on it that isn't as long as you would want it to be if your really cold. It does start up and warm up fast. It's very easy to repair, the backside comes loose with just a screw driver, and BOOM fan, fuses, whatever is needed, is all there, so much user comfort and self maintence is very much present. I have a very good example of a heater that doesn't care for user needs. I stripped it and all, should not be necessary to remove as many screws as I had to. To add, this company doesn't seem that big, but the added full warranty on labor and parts is nice as well. If you look at warranties for other heaters, they can be janky and only provide warranty on parts. Durability wise it seems to hold up. It has knockover protection. I been kicking this thing around and letting it sit right in the coldest areas for hours, then turning it on. Playing with the vent Jaws that oscillate, and I mean it's all sturdy... So all in all, for a heater at this price, I'd say it's a really above average heater. Very acceptable as a staple heater or a kitchen room heater. It will not heat up a really large area (the pictures were taken in my front living room, and there's a decently sized den that's uninsulated that the heater keeps warm) which I'm sure is already obvious. Don't let the size fool you. If you want somthing more durable or hotter, you gotta go with heaters in the 200 buck range with copper fuses. They're also alot bigger. Other then that, this is a solid heater across the board worth the buy, but if your house is on the bigger side, this is an OK heater, and OK isn't that great in the winter when you feel it. Be wise Amazon shoppers, best of luck! ... show more

  • tiny glow has shined as performer for three seasons + UPDATED 01/12
I am going into my third season using the Dr. Heater brand heater and I am very impressed with its performance in both heating and efficiency. In 2010 it got me through the worst winter months in a fairly small and VERY drafty cabin where I was staying and it was used as the sole heat source. Later that year when I moved on to better digs, this unit helped keep both a 700sq ft and a 300 sq ft room at the perfect temperature when used with just a little help from a central heating unit. In addition to concerns about my electric bill for the central heat, I could barely hear my t.v., phone, etc over the blowers from the large HVAC unit going off at random. I also did not like hot air literally blowing on me all the time. Dr. Heater was the perfect solution for my warmth AND comfort. At the same time I purchased this unit I also bought a consumer reporting recommended ceramic heater unit by Holmes. The Dr. Heater unit beat the much less expensive recommended unit in many ways by many, many miles! For nighttime use the Dr. Heater unit doesn't produce that loud fan noise or awful sun glow that the ceramic heater produced, the light and noise of which would frequently wake me up. Dr. Heater is remarkably quiet and doesn't dry the air out like the ceramic heater did either, which I have tested with an indoor humidity sensor. My electric bill in 2010 was definitely less than with using at first baseboard heating and then central heat. other Dr. Heater pluses for me: The whole room is warmed very quickly and very evenly, not just the several feet directly in front of the unit. Lightweight and easy to move from room to room as needed. I have a small dog and a young cat in the home and I never worry that they will hurt themselves walking around the Dr. Heater. A friend of mine uses the EdenPure brand heater and the Dr. Heater unit works just as well heating the same square footage at half the price and almost half the size; speaking of size, bonus points for the compact design and attractive wood housing. The remote control is especially handy if I want to change the settings without getting up. Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase and would definitely buy this heater again. Note - Although this was my direct link from my order history to post a review of my purchase, my unit does not have the humidifier on it as this link's description/photo states. UPDATE: January 5, 2012 - I've just received my electric bill for the past month and compared it with my bill from last year. Having used the Dr. Heater unit exclusively over the past month with no central heat activated during this time my electric bill is about forty percent less than last year's bill for the same time period. Two factors may have had some impact on the result - the weather has been somewhat milder this year and I also closed the door to the bedroom during the day which means the heater only had to work with the larger space of about 700 sq ft during the day with 9 ft ceilings. Since last year I used *both* the central heat and the Dr. Heater I believe forty percent less overall represents a significant savings above what could be weather or square footage related. ... show more

  • Great heater, don't be discouraged by reports of leaky humidifier adapter.
Color: Cherry
This is a great heater. I got it to supplement comfort in the living room, and it works great. I really love these types of heaters, and I have a black and decker heater as well (all metal sides, no digital readout, 1000 wats, cost almost as much as this one but got it at the hardware store in town last winter). I did have the problem with the soda bottle not sealing into the humidifier, but it was easily fixed by pulling the rubber seal from the second adapter and using both seals on the single adapter. It is roughly the same size as the lawn hose seals you can find at walmart in the garden section for a few bucks. Bottom line, you will not find a humidifier on a heater like this for this price, and all you need to do is fit your soda bottle (I use the 20 oz coke/pepsi bottle) and flip it, if it leaks out the side then take the adapter top off and head out and fit a rubber seal into it, and you should be golden (or do what I did, and pry the seal out of the other adapter). I saw many complaints of the seal leaking, but this heater with humidifier plus the extra cost from a local store if your seal is leaking is well worth the investment. I have not seen any other heaters with the humidifier, and I love this because of it. It is very pleasant on the sinuses, has a really great timer shut off feature, and the digital temperature readout is awesome. I would highly recommend this heater to anyone who is looking to add supplemental heat, or heat a medium sized room (we have no central air in the upstairs part of the house, and it works great up there). I would buy again and recommend to a friend. UPDATE: I bought one more of these last Winter (JAN 2014 was the last purchase) when my parents from AZ came to visit to put in the guest room. Last Winter was pretty cold for TN standards, and we even got about a weeks worth of snow coverage. The heaters worked great all through the winter and really helped supplement our aging heat pump downstairs. We were very comfortable upstairs (we have baseboard heat we don't like to use because we have furniture against the walls) using just these heaters. One heater does not oscillate any more, but we didn't really use that feature anyway. Other than that, both heaters are still pumping heat (we have had some cold TN nights/days down in the 20's already), and the humidifiers on both are still working. Using the second gasket from the adapter that does not fit on U.S. 20oz style soda bottle has made it so that we have never had a leak from this heater. The bottom line in unchanged, I would still highly recommend this heater to anyone looking to supplement or heat a small/medium sized room. Not only did I say I would buy again, but I did buy again, and we are still very happy we did. ... show more

  • Small yet powerful. Beautiful wood cabinet.
Color: Coffee
UPDATE: Thermostat does not function properly. It is impossible to set desired temperature where the unit could turn on and off at that sweet spot. To turn it off after the desired temperature is reached, you have to turn it off manually. This dropped my rating from 5 to 3. This is an extremely effective heater for the small size. The wood cabinet is beautifully finished and the build of the entire unit is very sturdy. The ease of mobility with the casters makes this highly portable. It is not heavy and can be lifted just as easily. The remote control and features including an eco option make this an energy-conscious option. The sides and back do not disperse heat making this safer than I previously thought. All the heat is generated in the front and can be felt four feet away. I was impressed. This is an excellent value for such an effective heater. ... show more

Best small heater I’ve purchased. This is the 2nd one. The 1st one I bought in 2013, & it just stopped working. Heats up a whole room easily. Haven’t tried to use the humidifier. Looks nice. I would recommend. Somewhat quiet. Easy to move since it is on rollers. Safe around toddlers
