Great alternative to pine bedding. Lasts much longer, absorbs great, and reduces any smell to almost nothing. I add in used coffee grounds, and it will last 4x longer than any other bedding I've used.

This bedding/litter material is super absorbent. It takes up moisture better than any alternative I’ve tried so far. It’s also the best smelling option I’ve tried. The odor control is so good that I could easily get away with changing the litter 2-3 times less often than I had been with other products if I were so inclined. It’s also truly dust free unlike other products I’ve tried. The best part is because it’s made of hemp, for me it’s hypoallergenic. Did I mention how much easier it is to clean up? Unlike with paper or wood shavings, this stuff vacuums up very quickly and more easily. Don’t be put off by the price. The value of this product over other bedding or litter materials is excellent. Healthier animals with fewer upper respiratory infections means less veterinary costs! A product that doesn’t start to smell bad quickly with use and which absorbs more liquids lasts longer, making it a better value. The quality is top notch. Invest in the health of your animals and buy the best, you won’t regret it.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Nice bedding, absorbs fairly well. I use it for brooding chicks. It’s not practical to use in full sized coops, way too expensive for that.

The best chicken coop bedding! The only thing I’ve found that truly helps to control odors and keep my chickens happy, clean, and dry. I’m currently doing the deep litter method and I will keep purchasing this bedding!

The media could not be loaded. Updated review: The company replied to my question, where I asked if the hemp bedding is supposed to feel slightly humid and smell musty. The reply said, no, it's supposed to be very dry, told the bag I got might have gotten wet in shipping or delivery, and I was offered a new bag. I contacted the company by email to accept the offer, provided my address and a thanks. I received the new bag yesterday afternoon, and opened the bag and used some of the hemp bedding in one of my chicks brooders. This one felt completely dry and had no musty odor. It doesn't have the great scent others have rave about, but it's very good bedding that my chicks like. Seems to be less dusty than other beddings. I'll buy it again, but afraid to get it on Amazon. I suspect that the bag I got from Amazon may have been stored in a place with too much humidity and the bedding absorbed a lot of moisture causing it to start to growl mold and smell musty. Because of convenience I might order it again from Amazon to give it another chance, but if that bag comes also feeling humid and smelling musty, I'll return it and ask for a refund. That 1st bedding I used on 2 chick brooders and since I've noticed some of my chicks sneezing, which might be caused by mold spores from the musty bedding. Anyway, because of the great customer service and the good bag of hemp bedding, I'm changing my rating from 2 stars to 4. I would give it 5 if the product was more affordable. My original review: This is the 1st bag I buy of much more expensive Hemp bedding. Been using Aspen Wood Shavings which cost about 45% the price of Hemp bedding. Read so many raving reviews of hemp bedding, mentioning how good it smells and how long it keeps the coop free of bad odor, which is why I decided to try it. I went for this brand because it's about $4-5 cheaper than the other brands here. Got a brand new, completely sealed bag, so when I opened it I was surprised by the slight humid feel of the hemp shavings, and the unpleasant musty scent coming from it. I didn't know if that's normal, so I used it anyway in my chick brooders, so can't return it. But not satisfied with this hemp bedding. Might try a different brand of I can find it on sale.

This is exceptional product for a chicken coop as you can get a scoop and sift it so it last a lot longer than straw or grass. However, lately it takes weeks to get. So I may be switching brands just for that reason. When I order it I need it and they hold your order for days before shipping now.
